I remember ZeRo posting a video stating that Roy was potentially the best swordsmen in smash. However, current tournament results for Roy suggests otherwise. Roy has yet to make top 8 at any major, and has yet win any locals. The typical argument for this is that Roy has a sour spot at the tip of his sword.

When I watch Roy, the first thing I notice is an approach with nair that hits with said sour spot. Then the player has no way to follow up. Although after labbing Roy, the sour spot...

I still prefer Google Chrom because he is more consistent.

Roy's recovery is better than Chrom's and against rush-down characters that get close he deals a TON of damage with his sweetspot. He's largely been ignored by players but I think he'll see more play as he has a lot of room to grow as a character. The noodle sword still sucks if they out-space you though

I mean, I seems to see more Roys than Chroms, but then again, I don't watch that many tourneys.

On another note, I'm skeptical of ZeRo's lists. Remember in 4 I think he also touted Roy as good.
