I agree with this. Although Geno is owned by Square, he isn't like most 3rd party characters who starred on a nintendo game and them moved onto some other system. Geno has only starred in one game and it was a nintendo game. He is just barely 3rd party. I honestly dont think he will be replacing any 3rd party characters like megaman if he ended up in Brawl.

Why Geno in brawl?

Ugh most people play Football games and play it outside... in fact a lot of College and NFL players play CFB games. Most people don't play RPG games that take hours upon hours to play and beat. It is like World of Warcraft, ever seen that Southpark episode?
I love how you make fun of my age when you guys are obsessed with a stupid looking doll. Also, btw, few people in my area do play RPG games like that. I have been all over the south, if they do play video games, it is usually Tiger Woods, Madden, NCAA Football, Halo 1 or 2, or Old School games from NES and SEGA; mostly NES. I think that is a valid generalization, and I would say it may be nationwide if you add up the sales of all of the games. Playstation 2's claim to fame was sports games and Grand theif auto.
I know very little people who have never seen or played an NES and don't know who Sonic or Mario is. I would love to see Nintendo make brawl good enough; that people outside the video game or mario fan community, or myself ( was roped in when I bought a game cube to get College Football, because gamecube was cheaper then the others and had the Sonic games in which my sister and cousins also liked. I decided to try buying Mario games and Sonic games. O btw, I really enjoy Mario Golf, Mario Power Tennis, Mario Soccer, and Mario Baseball... ended up getting all 4 of ebay for under 20-28 dollars each).

Big deal, YOUR area doesn't mean the rest of the world don't like OTHER games...
It might also be the group you hang wit...
OTHER people, people I know, like RPG's...they like good storylines, character development, etc.
Your using the excuse that the people ignorant of Mario characters and Mario RPG in your area make up a majority of the world.
Us that grew up with Geno know his importance and how much Mario RPG shaped videogames thereafter...

Ever heard of the South Eastern Conference (SEC) in college football? Do you see how many athletes come out of our region of the country. Hunting and fishing are both huge here as well.
BTW go out tomorrow and ask a crowd of people who GENO is in your hometown... bet about 80% of them have no idea. He is just a side character, in fact I had little idea who he was until I started reading these threads (I forgat about him when I played Super Mario RPG). I never beat the game, I got about half way through it and got tired of it. Also got mad that Luigi and Yoshi were not in it.

There are 5 main characters in Mario RPG. Geno is a very important part of Mario RPG. Without him there would be no Mario RPG. Do you get it now? He is important! Also, he is much more than a "stupid doll". He is a star agent who posesses the body of a doll. He has a very unique backround story like every Smash Bros. character should have. Maybe you should look into it instead of making stupid assumptions. Please use some reason.

I think Geno should be in Brawl, honestly. Why? It's simple: He's cool and has a lot of potential to be original. Simple as that, do I really have to give a reason other than that?

First of all how could you make that assumption without knowing where I live? Everybody here who has ever played a video game knows who Geno is and have beaten Mario RPG. Also, by telling me that you haven't beaten it yourself tells me that you lack the knowledge and reason to tell me why Geno shouldn't be in Brawl.

Geno's not a side character. RPG's have more than one main character, and Geno is one of them in this game. And he has been in every game in the series, because the SMRPG series only has one game. He hasn't been used since then because Nintendo and Square didn't get along for so long, and then it was too late. We all know Sakurai loves classic characters, and he is a very important character to the SMRPG franchise. Therefore, he should be in Brawl.

Personally I would choose Tatanga and Wart over Geno..
Tatanga would support the Mario Land games..
Wart would support Super Mario Brothers 2.
Both were also major enemies/villains.
Even though I like Geno and all.. I would even rather have the Duck Hunt Dog or Alice before him.

He is actually on my top 15 hopefuls.
It's just he falls behind Wart and Tatanga.
The reason why I want Tatanga because I feel he needs a comeback.. and Brawl would be the best place for it. I used to play Super Mario Land 1 and 2 almost all the time when I was kid.. so that may be another reason for it.
I never got into playing Super Mario RPG until 2002 when a friend let me borrow the game.
Thats it, I'm calling shenanigans on this thread. The TC is trying to hold statements about a game he never even actually played. He's consistantly generalizing and stereotyping the Southeastern United States. And all around, isn't providing much discussion to his own thread.
I'll never forget your assumption though, that just because the Southeast has trees and grass, must mean that everyone down there loves them some footbal.

That was one of my favorite parts...I was a total cheapskate for waiting until I had 10:1 odds and raking in a cookie jackpot. And then getting Red Essences. Ah, the days...
And about the creator...he says he got halfway through the game. I seriously question that considering that, if he didn't beat it, how does he know how far he went? He probably doesn't even remember anymore, but I would imagine that he probably quit before reaching Booster's Tower...which is NOT even halfway.

Greater than 30% of the posters will say Super Mario RPG. I've seen it several times before.

While it wasn't the first RPG I ever played, I would have to say it WAS one of my favorites. I've played it through a bunch of times...
And even though I love the writing for Paper Mario (specifically for Thousand Year Door...that game's dialog was funny in an AMAZING way), I think that SMRPG still had a better story than most of the other Mario RPG titles out there...though to be honest, I have limited experience with the Mario & Luigi RPGs.

I agree, I cant really see why Geno would even be wanted by anyone to be in brawl, its just like me turning around and saying "gee, I wish you could play as a goomba", only that would make sense, since goomba's have seen more games than Geno

Also Geno is orginal. What other Mario related character can shot pelets, do 9999 damage and is mystic because they see the bigger picture (I.E. Bowser's castle discussion in game))?
Where as Sonic...He can run, so can Shadow. He can turn into a ball...so can the others, he can go super sayain, how cheap.
Megaman same for him only that Bass can;t charge shoots but can shoot in the same place multiple times and Protoman has a shield.

To be fair, Geno isn't all that original either when you think about it. But, he is more original when compared to all other Mario characters pretty much, and most of the rest of the characters. If Snake deserves a spot, then nobody should critisize Geno for unoriginality.

Uhhh I like Wart n all but wan't he only in one game too? And out of all the Mario games isn't this the least of the NES, SNES collection. I mean we can all agree Mario bros. Mario 3, Super Mario World, Yoshi's Island are way more popular than Mario Bros. 2 and Super Mario RPG just may be more popular than Mario Bros. 2. Also it's very clear to see that Geno is way more popualr and would probably be a lot more unique than Wart. But again I'm not attacking Wart cuz I'd like him to be in but just don't see it happening in Brawl. Maybe the next one. For now Wart as an AT or Subspace boss.
