Why Geno in brawl?

Why should he be in over lets say

Super Mario RPG was a very popular game. If the game was unpopular/disliked do you really think that the JPN and U.S. would want him included? Let alone show up on the poll.

Here's what you should do. Look up the the word "Main Character" read a book and see if you can find the "Main Character" in that book. Then play Super Mario RPG and see if you can find the "Main Characters" in that game.

I just don't think Geno is that big of a Mario character, that is why he hasn't reappeared since that game. Waluigi is all over the place in the Mario world, even if a filler character.

Koopa Trooper is a basic grunt of the Koopa Army, and has no specific story of a character.

Waluigi

Waluigi was designed as a counter to Wario, much like Daisy was to Peach. Geno is his own dependant character.

Tantanga

Geno's has a much richer back-story than Tatanga.

Lakitu

Lakitu is just another grunt of the Koopa army and is a generic character.

You didn't read right, I was refering to a certain MagiKoopa, I just can't remember his name all of a sudden. He is the boss of SMW2 and has appeared in several games after it.

I just don't see the logic in letting in a dumb little puppet. And I have played Super Mario RPG for SNES and it took you through several quests before you even got to GENO.

Plus, you do understand that what you're saying here is opinion based. which you are entitled to, but you must understand that your opinion isn't necessarily the way the majority of the player/fan base feels.

Luigi, Zelda, and Peach have been in about every game in their series...

Apparently Jigglypuff is popular in the tv series... never watched it and Pokemon fans say Mewtwo was one of the top ones as well.

Falco is in every Star Fox game and his attitude stands out.

Majority of fan base on this board... if you go ask average joe they would know the characters I listed but wouldn't have a clue who Geno was.

Also TC maybe if you looked at the Geno thread maybe you could get an idea as to why people want him in the game in the first place.

BTW I don't expect hardly any of those 3rd party characters to make it but I think adding third party was best thing ever for brawl. If Sonic and Megaman where added it would be huge and I think Brawl sales would go up because non-nintendo fans would be interested.

Well I started this thread because I don't want to read through the 1000 posts of the Geno thread, people need to make threads more because it is hard to read threads that have over 1000 posts. I post on ESPN sometimes and they don't do that on ESPN when talking about sports. Could I just have a short, one post summary...

Sorry I am bashing your character, looks like you guys really want them. The real main character that Mario Series is missing is Toad though.

O btw, there is a main Koopa Trooper because he appears in all the Mario Sports games.

Bowser Jr. is a lot more popular, however, a lot of people think of him as annoying and wish that the Koopalings from SMB 3 and SMW would make a reappearance on the mainstream.

Personally, I think the Mario series needs to bring most the bosses from SMB2 back for one or two of their games, they were cool, and I think the Koopalings should be brought back and even put in the Mario Sports games and Mario Party series.

IMO, Geno will be in the game in some shape, way or form... He is in fact a very popular character... you wouldn't start a debate if he wasn't... it's just that you don't know him... and yet I don't think Wart deserves a spot as a playable character more than Geno.

I think the problem here is where I live. I live in the Southeastern United States and we don't have very many solid RPG/Video game players.

The Video games that are popular down here are sports games (especially Madden, Tiger Woods, and NCAA Football), Halo, Sonic (really just the old school Genesis ones), and Old School Mario games (talking about SMW, and SMB 1-3). In fact most people where I live think Nintendo, SNES, and Sega Genesis are a10x better then any of the modern non-sport/halo games.

If you really want to sell SSB here, adding in Sonic and likely a football player would go a long way.

South-Eastern United states gets the same games that the rest of the United States gets. You need to broaden your perspective. Things happen outside your general community and/or social life. Just because a lot of people you know like Madden, doesn't mean your whole town/State/chunk of the country likes the same thing.

This is just my own speculation...but it would make sense to me that since Square technically owns the rights to Geno, and shortly after Super Mario RPG was made, things went really sour between Nintendo and Square for a while, the reason Geno didn't appear in more games could have simply been because Square wasn't really making ANY games for Nintendo during the 64 era. Thus Nintendo had to start its own Mario RPG franchise...Paper Mario.

Also, another good reason might be because, from a plot perspective, Geno's entire mission in SMRPG was to fix the Star Road, which he was successful in doing. Essentially, his story came to a close. Since the Star Road was his main priority, I don't know if they would include him in a future adventure if it didn't relate to the Star Road in some way.

I'd prefer to actually PLAY the sport then on a consol...(What, are people too lazy to get up an play a sport they have to pretend their playing it?)

I find them interesting to multi-player sometimes but not worth buying myself...

When has starring in one game ever mattered? From what I understand Ness only starred in one game and was added into Smash. Zero Suit Samus has a very short role on her GBA title Metroid Zero Mission. Also, this list of characters is filled with dumb and unimportant characters. Half of them are mindless drones of Bowsers army.

Hes more on the lines of 2nd/2nd and a half party, since Nintendo and Square worked on it together. If Geno were to be in Brawl, Square would care less, as he doesnt have a popular franchise, which basicly moved right to Paper Mario (Not worked on Square) so..... Plus. Geno is one of the most wanted characters in the game.. Megaman is not really what I'd want, I'd rather see Sonic.. anyways.

Point is, look at the first post of the Geno Thread, and read it fully, tell me that isnt unique. Then look up Super Mario RPG on Wikipedia and tell me it didnt have a HUGE impact on Japan/
