Why do you use Sheik?

I saw a thread like this on the ZSS board and figured I'd do one here.

For me, I remember watching some people at my university playing Brawl, and someone warned the others that he was really good with Sheik. He proceeded to beat everyone and look really cool doing it. I didn't know anything about competitive Brawl then and her position on the tier lists, so I didn't even know how impressive that was; I just knew it looked cool.

At the same time, Ocarina of Time is one of my favorite games and Sheik my favorite character in the game, so why not? I started playing as her at the very beginning of Smash 3DS's life - before she was considered a goddess - and she was so fun to play. Her reputation definitely helped me keep at it, and I have been using her since then.

I'd love to hear from you other Sheik players. Why do you main her? Why do you use her as a secondary?

I was literally just picking every Zelda character to unlock all their character and Final Smash trophies and when I picked her those two times I just liked her a lot.... her great mad movement and the Bouncing Fish were what made me fall in love with the character.
I haven't really touched her before that and I haven't seen a Sm4sh tier list yet too, but she quickly grew on me after that day.
But more recently Samus and ZSS really got into my tastes too, so Sheik is now a secondary for me.... along with Mewtwo, Lucina and Ganondorf.... well, and Samus, I guess.

I've been using Sheik since 2006. Ever since playing Oot, she's just been a really fascinating and awesome character to me. She's reserved, quiet, poetic, and majestic..and her moves in Smash make her seem even more elegant. When Brawl came out I hated the transition because I had been playing Melee so much, Brawl was just too floaty and she didn't feel nearly the same as before to me, so I stuck with just Zelda for a while but eventually went back to using Sheik at the very end of the game's lifespan. Then Smash 4 came out and lo and behold, Sheik became a godly character. I suppose I got lucky in that regard, but even if she hadn't been top tier, I still would have used her because I love her so much.

I'm a big LoZ fan, and Sm4sh is my first smash game. The first time I played it I immediately picked Link, and he was disappointing, as in LoZ he is quite fast. I then went to the next coolest LoZ character, sheik. I've been maining her since day 1, and 83% of my gametime is with her.
Of course now that she is seen as a god all my friends give me **** for playing her, and I have to explain that I've played her since I got the game.
I also love fast characters. ZSS is my first secondary, Mac is my second. Sheik is FAST.

When the game came out and I got day 1 I tried out all the characters I wanted to. Mega man turned out really clunky and I didn't get a feeling for him. Little Mac was great fun and I stuck with him for a while. I loved Link because I liked him in Melee and then in brawl he was utter trash and now he seems a lot better. Palutena turned out utter garbage.

With that being said I stuck with Little Mac and Link for a while but I kept losing to my friend's Greninja who was pretty much better than me as a player, and this was back in 1.0.0 on the 3DS so Greninja was mad good then. My friend knew I liked fast characters (both from playing me in other games and the fact that I loved how fast Little Mac was) so he told me to try out Sheik who he thought was pretty good. I did, and it just clicked. Been maining her ever since. She's the smoothest character in the cast between having clean lagless aerials that just kinda automatically link together, good mobility, and in general just damn fast with a lot of combos.

I started getting a bit more competitive in Smash 4, and before I knew anything about the tier lists, I picked up Sheik and began training with her. I didn't know she would be such the great character she turned out to be.

I used Sheik when I was still a casual in Brawl (Moving on to Marth as I played the game more seriously) and Brawl - was really popular among the friends I played with. I tried her out in that game and really enjoyed her, so she became my Brawl - main and I picked her up when this game came out and they were very similar so I stuck to it.

Her being a really good character was just icing on the cake for me :D

There's something very inspirational about watching high level Sheiks. Mr. R made me want to pick Sheik up and I fell in love with the level of practice she actually requires to play at high level. There is so much more to her than Fair x4 > Bouncing Fish. None of the other characters in the game have clicked with me as well as her except my secondaries who I'm very good with as well: Charizard and Greninja.

Because i needed a secondary and metaknight 2.0 feels nice. Shiek is faster then before, has stronger rushdown, bouncing fish, and is also a beast in teams. Its just preference on my part playing rosalina as main due to i like the high potencial of duo characters, and i know theres always more work to be done learning new stuff.

I play sheik because she fits my aggressive playstyle. I like rushdown flashy characters. She's also really fun to use and I like how challenging sheik is to play. She's not brain dead like other characters.

I main Sheik because of this happened to me 5 month ago I can't remember
I'm at high school and I have like 3 friends that I really consider them as my friends and the other ones are just about passing time and hang out. I played Smash since the begging of his existence, My friend only played brawl and him mains Sheik. In High school we played Smash 4 and I use Shulk all the time and he used Sheik all the time because he really likes her as a Ninja but he wants to believe he is a man not a woman. Time passed and we go to a tournament but he lost in first rounds using Sheik against Sonic, I got to beat all of them but I lost in Finals and didn't get nothing, Well he said to me that he was nervous and thats why he lost. I tell him my goal in Smash 4 that is to beat ZeRo in a friendly and he said that it will be hard with Shulk, I tell him that Shulk for me was one of the best characters but he laughed and I really wanted to show him the potential of Shulk, I fought one guy that become my friend online in For Glory and He won a game against Allly's Mario with Fox. I lost all the games I played with him with Shulk. ( I know Sheik is the best character and I played her in HW and I <3 LOVE Her, She is so beautiful and strong because she is Zelda lol, I would love an Sheik's alt custom for DLC from HW btw) Then my parents said to me that in 1 year we will move to the US and I will no be able to see him again and no one of my friends, So I told him this and he said that I should use Sheik so we I can remember that we are always friends, I know its dramatic but this happened like 5 months ago from then I use Sheik all the time because I always loved TLOZ and Zelda, I played her in brawl but not many times changing to Sheik, I always find curious Sheik in TLOZ OoT, So basically I use Sheik because she is amazing and remind me my friend, and because I <3 her lol

I dislocated and broke my elbow when I was young. Lost all strength in my right arm. Quit basketball and just started to run to stay in shape. When I saw sheik I noticed she was a fragile but nimble character that only really uses her legs to fight. That's why I picked her as a main. I love everything about her in smash, even ger her weaknesess because I personally just relate to her.

I was watching the Dallas scene play Japanese 3DS Smash 4 and Denti was winning practically every tournament and the combos looked fun. When the 3DS game launched, I tried my series main Fox and he felt too weird, and the voice annoyed me (still does). I picked up Sheik the night before the Nintendo invitational (almost made it to New York, damn it) and haven't looked back.

I was a Falco main in Brawl, and so when Sm4sh came out I unlocked him as fast as I could. It was similar, yet it wasn't the same. I decided to start fresh. Playing the entire cast extensively, learning which play styles were which, and finding what I liked, I found that I didn't really know what I wanted...I just knew what felt good. It was literally Sheik's Bair. It was so similar to Falco's Brawl Bair and I loved it.

Played her a little in Brawl to learn her DACUS after watching some matches by Izaw. Picked her up in PM after watching a set by M2K thinking, "She looks so strong!" So duel mained her and Mario (with the Doc skin). When Smash 4 came out I saw that she was fast like her PM self. On top of that, seeing Bouncing Fish when she was revealed pushed maining her up to 110% lol. From there, the rest was history.

I picked Sheik because she was just too much fun. You can run around everywhere, throw out moves anywhere, throw needles, and play any style you wanted, Rushdown, Campy, defensive, offensive whatever and all of them work its was a blessing. And since I became a Sheik main I forced myself to play LoZ games.

I use Sheik sometimes because she is a lot of fun to play and even more fun to win with. It's rare for me to play secondaries, so I've built a special relationship with green Sheik.

It's liberating to go from a character with a frame 16 and 11 Fair and Bair to one with frames 5 and 4 respective. The fact that she's ind of a punching judy if you don't have a good gameplan and are getting hit by stupid stuff makes it more fun to win with her. The losses on the way to road to be good at Sheik are pretty frustrating though.

I appreciate Sheik as a top-level character who takes lots of skill to win with. In a departure from me only playing this game to play my main, me playing Sheik is me loving the game itself.

In all seriousness, I play her because I like a character that has a lot of interesting and useful tech, and one that I have to make many fast inputs with. I don't know why I like the latter, but I do. I'm also a HUGE fan of throw combos, which Sheik has. I play Mii, Sheik, Diddy, Falco, Diddy, Mario, ZSS, Falcon... you get the point.

So yeah, that's why I play Sheik.

I got into Smash during Brawl and was like, "I hear this game is competitive so i'll look up stuff about it" and I saw A TON of Melee Sets starring M2k using sheik and that's honestly what did it for me, he made her look so fun and clean and I was like wow maybe i can be that good at some point. Plus, I love Ninjas/Get in Get Out High damage output play styles and just love everything about her as far as Smash goes.

I started playing her as a main because when they showed her at a direct and i saw BF i was like that flip kick looks neat ill definitely try her when the game comes out 3ds version came out i played ike for a while wasnt feeling him went to shiek played her until wii u dropped carried her over when i got into more serious play but shes been dropped to secondary status because i couldnt kill someone at 999% if i tried lol.short story i play her because i like speed and being up in your face.

I'm still on the process of picking her up(day 6 sheik right here lmao). But since I had been playing characters with ****ty neutrals(I've mained Greninja for quite a while now) I essentially had to get smart and make my neutral better than everyone else in my area if I wanted to go head to head with them. One of our "wiser" players said that since I had a good neutral in comparison to everyone else, I should try to play a character with a godly neutral. And here I am. So far so good, I almost 2-0ed one of the PR players of CO with her at my weekly so results are showing up. Also she's so much fun she's like melee fox in a way, "I wonder if Sheik can do this if my opponent does so, it would look amazing" and then she can do it. You can be so original and so flexible at the precise of needing really precise execution. She is incredibly rewarding. I just started to delve into the world of sheik, but god is it a world I wanna stay in.

Back in Brawl, I played Zelda casually cause I thought Teleport was cool since you could do stuff like Teleport in place or away or at them and kinda mix it up and stuff, but I always lost to my friend's Ness and Lucas. When Smash 4 came out, I really wanted to get better than him at it and watching trailers and stuff, Sheik looked hella fun. Some other friends thought I wouldn't like her or that saying she'd be my main before the game came out was a dumb idea, but I went with it anyway and turns out I LOVED everything about her. Speed, Movement, BF, Vanish. Saw the competitive scene, watched the melee documentary, picked up fox, falco, peach, and marth (I was CONVINCED Falco was about as good as Fox) Went to a tournament one time, almost beat Darkrain and thought "I think I'd like to keep doing this" It's been almost a year since my first tournament

I picked her up back in brawl cause she was the fastest to grab the items (and her ultrasmash was really good but we never played with smashballs cause they're imbalanced af so that doesnt count but still). I also got into competitive using sheik and link, but then switched to marth n falco (they just feel right). Shortly before the end of brawl, i kinda got back to sheik, so it was natural to pick her when smash 4 came out... and she felt a effin lot like brawl marth (who i consider my main). I sticked with her and got onto smashboards where I met alot of awesome people (you guys are the best

) so I decided to stay sheik. Oh and she just feels so great.

Then again, from time to time i hate the stigma of playing the apperently best char in the game :/ And play some other chars as well, but I really consider sheik to be my one and only main.
