With how much people wanted characters like Ridley and King K. Rool in the game, I thought it would be fun to look at every pre-Ultimate character and speculate on which characters would be the most requested if they were never playable in any Smash game beforehand. I'm personally going to list my thoughts on every pre-Ultimate character, but feel free to discuss certain characters if it's easier. This list also does not reflect my opinion on which characters I like or dislike, this is just based on how I think people may react if the characters were never playable in any Smash game. Here goes:

:ultmario: - The outcry would be massive. Gaming's most iconic character besides Pac-Man, Mario would be a meme for not being playable and everyone would want him in the game for closure and because he would massively deserve it.

:ultdk: - Donkey Kong is another iconic character in gaming, and he would absolutely be heavily requested. It would make the King K. Rool support pale in comparison, and that's saying a lot.

:ultlink: - The outcry would also be way too much. Many people played Zelda games and love them, and with the high reception of the series, it would be a crime to not have Link be playable. One of the most potentially supported character candidates by a landslide.

:ultsamus: - Not as iconic as the first three, but still a very important character in Nintendo's history. Super Metroid and the Prime games are highly regarded among many gamers, and Samus would be heavily requested despite the lack of recent games outside of Samus Returns.

:ultyoshi: - Yoshi has always been a fan favorite character. While not as important to the overall Mario universe as Luigi, Bowser, and Peach, Yoshi has an edge with his own-sub series of games including Yoshi's Story and Yoshi's Woolly World. Yoshi would easily be one of the most requested Mario characters for sure, overtaking other potential choices like Wario, Rosalina, and Bowser Jr.

:ultkirby: - Everyone loves Kirby, plus his games are great. With Sakurai as the lead developer of the series, he should feel obligated to include his most famous creation as a playable character. Definitely would be one of the most requested characters for sure.

:ultfox: - While characters like Link, Samus, and Kirby would have more vocal support, many people have fond memories of the Star Fox games, especially 64. With Fox having a rough past decade, with the only new game being Star Fox Zero, people would latch onto the nostalgia they have for the SNES and N64 games and show how much Fox McCloud means to them as a character, and how putting him into Smash could surge a Star Fox renaissance.

:ultpikachu: - Another one with a massive outcry. Pikachu goes well beyond his games; he is one of the most iconic mascot characters in the world. Not including the mascot of Pokémon in Smash after this much time passing would be horrendous.

:ultluigi: - Luigi is one of the most beloved characters in the Mario universe, and not including the original player 2 character in Smash would be a crime. He would have a very high amount of support, and people may discuss if he could either be a Mario clone or have a completely unique moveset based off of Luigi's Mansion.

:ultness: - Ness would probably be in a similar situation that Isaac is in now, maybe a bit louder. People would discuss how much EarthBound means to them and how Ness could have a great moveset for Smash, maybe borrowing moves from his other party members. People may also argue if Lucas or Ninten deserve a spot more than Ness, as well as if he really deserves a spot if he's only in one game.

:ultfalcon: - This one is probably the most interesting. F-Zero has not seen a game since F-Zero GX on the GameCube, so I feel like he would have had the most support during Brawl and would have had quieter support in Smash 4 and Ultimate, unless a Mii Fighter costume was added or something. He could potentially be seen as a meme pick for some, due to the F-Zero anime and maybe the cutscenes in F-Zero GX. He would definitely have support, but people would be discussing what his moveset could even be and be unsure of supporting him when other popular characters have not been added yet.

:ultjigglypuff: - Jigglypuff would most likely have the quietest fanbase of the potential N64 characters. People probably would want a Pokémon like Charizard or Mewtwo to represent Gen I instead alongside with Pikachu. Jigglypuff supporters would also face tough competition from supporters of many other characters, regardless if it's a new character like Decidueye or Greninja or if it's an existing favorite like Gardevoir or Lucario. Overall, Jigglypuff would probably have a small, dedicated fanbase that would latch onto its appearances in the anime and how the new Fairy type could make it relevant again. In my opinion, Jigglypuff is the least likely potential Smash N64 character to be introduced in Ultimate.

:ultpeach: - The outcry would be big for Princess Peach. She is probably the most iconic female character in gaming, and her importance to the Mario series can not be ignored. One of the most requested characters overall for sure.

:ultbowser: - Bowser would also have massive support. As the most important villain in all of video games, it would be impossible to ignore him. Bowser would be one of the most wanted characters for Smash, no question.

:ulticeclimbers: - The Ice Climbers are interesting. People would probably suggest them as a potential retro Nintendo character to be revived, but overall, the Ice Climbers would probably have a pretty small fanbase. They would also be competing with other NES originated characters like Pit, Little Mac, and Duck Hunt.

:ultsheik: - Sheik would definitely have quieter supporters than Zelda and Ganondorf, but discussion could still be had if Sheik could be a part of Zelda's moveset. Only really appearing in Ocarina of Time and Hyrule Warriors would give her competition with other Zelda characters though, like Impa and Skull Kid. People may also use the flawed "irrelevance" argument against her chances.

:ultzelda: - Many people would want Zelda to be playable. She is a major reoccurring character in her own franchise, and many people may discuss how fun a magic based moveset with her might be. Definitely a contender for a highly requested character.

:ultdoc: - Dr. Mario would rarely get mentioned, with Paper Mario being more highly discussed as a second Mario. A few people might say that the Dr. Mario games are great and there should be some puzzle game representation in Smash, but people may latch onto other choices like Lip or Arle for that. Overall, Doc would probably have one of the quietest fanbases of any potential character.

:ultpichu: - Pichu would have support, but like Jigglypuff, he would face competition with other Pokémon choices. Being a pre-evolution of Pikachu would also slightly increase Pichu's fans over Jigglypuff's, since Pichu is directly related to the mascot of the franchise. With that said, people would most likely focus on reps for newer generations than for Gold and Silver, as Gen III and IV were both out before Brawl released.

:ultfalco: - Falco would be interesting. People may mention that he and Fox have similar builds and should both join Smash together, but overall, I feel that more people would want Wolf in over Falco. Wolf would have priority to some fans due to being Fox's rival, and some people might also feel that Star Fox does not need more than two or even one character. Falco would definitely be the most requested Star Fox character after Wolf though.

:ultmarth: - Marth would be highly requested in Japan, and also gain traction elsewhere in the world after Shadow Dragon's release. People may discuss how a more recent protagonist like Ike or Chrom should be the first Fire Emblem representive, while others would latch onto Marth as he was the original protagonist, with major roles in the first and third Fire Emblem games. Marth would be one of the most requested Fire Emblem characters without a doubt.

:ultyounglink: - Fans of Majora's Mask may discuss Young Link as a fun, unique contrast to Link's potential moveset. Lots of discussion and arguments could be made on why people want a second Link and why Young Link could be the most interesting choice. Overall though, I feel Young Link would have quieter support than Sheik, and people may feel that we only need one Link to represent the Zelda series.

:ultganondorf: - Ganondorf would be one of the most requested characters without a doubt. With his internal role as main antagonist in every Zelda game except for Skyward Sword, as well as discussion on how fun a dark magic moveset with him would be, Ganondorf would be a fan favorite choice and would be one of the most discussed possible Smash choices. People may also compare him with his original form, Ganon, and how it may be better to have him in his original form instead.

:ultmewtwo: - Most likely the highest requested Pokémon character besides Pikachu. People would argue how Mewtwo has stood the test of time and is one of the most regonizable Pokémon, with him being the star of the first movie and featured in another movie and TV special. People would also discuss how he has two Mega evolutions instead of just one and discuss which one would be the most fitting for Smash Bros., with X focused in physical combat and Y focused on mind powers. Mewtwo would be one of the biggest fan favorite choices, no question.

:ultroy: - Roy would most likely be one of the least discussed character choices. While people would talk about his appearances in Awakening and Heroes, most people would probably dismiss him as a possibility. This could be due to various causes, like FE6 never making it out of Japan, Roy being overshadowed by other Fire Emblem characters like Hector and Robin, and just not having enough unique material to work with. He would probably have one of the quietest support groups for any Smash character overall.

:ultgnw: - A joke suggestion. Mr. Game & Watch would probably just be called "The Game & Watch rep", and people would suggest him as a joke after a reference was made to his games in Nintendo Land, despite years of absence. Most people would not take him as a serious choice, and he may be seen by many as a "meme". With that said, a small amount of people may feel that Nintendo's first handheld gaming devices deserve acknowledgement in the biggest Nintendo crossover game, and may quietly support him unironically.

:ultmetaknight: - Meta Knight would definitely be requested. People may prefer Meta Knight over King Dedede due to his appearances in games like Kirby's Adventure and Kirby Super Star, demonstrating how Meta Knight feels like Kirby's "true rival" for some. People may also discuss how the Halberd would be an awesome stage, similar to how King K. Rool fans discuss the Gangplank Galleon as a stage. People could also argue how Meta Knight wouldn't be "just another sword user" and how he has other attacks he could use. Overall, Meta Knight may not be one of the most highly requested characters, but a lot of people would want him and be vocal about it, feeling that Kirby deserves more characters.

:ultpit: - Pit would be in a unique situation. While Pit would get modest requests for Brawl as an NES rep, his support would drastically increase for Smash 4 after the release of Kid Icarus Uprising. With Sakurai himself having directed Uprising, people would latch onto Pit as one of the best new additions that could be made for Smash 4. With his new relevance and many weapons he could use from the 3DS game, interest in Pit would be renewed and he would be requested a good amount for Smash 4. Requests may have slowed down if he skipped Smash 4 though, as currently the Kid Icarus series is on hiatus and people may be uncertain if Pit would stand the test of time.

:ultzss: - Zero Suit Samus is an interesting choice. People may not even consider putting Samus out of her power suit, but some may feel that she could have a completely different moveset and be drastically more agile, disregarding the fact that it's the same character as the Power Suit version. Other M also made Zero Suit more prominent, but many people seem to want to move on from Other M. She may have a small fanbase though, with potentially way more people rooting for Ridley instead.

:ultwario: - Wario would be requested for sure. While other Mario characters like Peach and Yoshi would have more vocal support, Wario also has his fans and many of them would discuss how cool it would be if Wario could borrow moves from the Wario Land games. People may also want to include Wario to represent the WarioWare games, in order to further separate him from the Mario universe. Wario would probably be among the most requested of the potential Brawl characters.

:ultsnake: - The Metal Gear Solid games are among the most critically acclaimed in the industry. If people discussed what third party characters should join Smash, Snake may or may not be one of the most discussed. While his history with Nintendo is lukewarm and other choices like Mega Man and Bayonetta would have more history with Nintendo, Snake would bank off the fact that MGS1 and MGS3 both released on Nintendo platforms, and how the Metal Gear Solid games contain so many weapons that Snake could use that he would have a perfect moveset. Plus, MGS4 was in development before Brawl released, and MGSV was relevant during Smash 4. People may also discuss if he's too violent of a character for Smash or not, and how they could potentially tone him down if he isn't. With that said, he would probably be discussed a moderate amount, but I highly doubt he would be outright ignored like Lara Croft currently is.

:ultike: - Ike would be one of the prime candidates for a playable Fire Emblem character. With Path of Radiance and Radiant Dawn being relevant before Brawl's release, Ike would be discussed as a great first Fire Emblem character and how his build could provide for a fun, unique take on a sword fighter. For Smash 4 and Ultimate, he would also be discussed aplenty and may be preferred over newer protagonists like Chrom and Corrin, due to how well received Ike's games were and how he's one of the most popular and recognizable Fire Emblem characters, standing the test of time. Probably the most discussed potential Fire Emblem rep in my opinion.

:ultpokemontrainer: - Not entirely sure how I should structure the Pokémon Trainer, so I'll give my brief thoughts on him and his three Pokémon separately:

Pokémon Trainer would be a curious choice in terms of people wanting a Pokémon representative that isn't actually a Pokémon. Plently of people like the idea of being a trainer that commands a team, and a few people would ask for him as a niché choice. With that said, not many people would seriously consider him, and he may be seen as a "WTF" choice for some. Definitely would be a surprise all-around for most people.

:squirtle: - Squirtle would have a quiet fanbase. Many people would probably want him playable, but they also acknowledge that many other Pokémon compete with it as well. Squirtle would be one of those characters where a few people ask for him, but deep down, many people would actually want and use him. He would also be competing with his evolution, Blastoise, which in itself would be competing with others like Charizard and Mewtwo.

:ivysaur: - Ivysaur would almost never get mentioned. I think people would ask for Bulbasaur or Venusaur more, but even so, they know that the Squirtle and Charmander lines have more vocal fans. Ivysaur would also be competing with other Grass starters like Sceptile and Decidueye. Overall, like Squirtle, Ivysaur would have a small support base but would have plenty of people who would like to use it.

:charizard: - One of the most popular Pokémon of all time, and my personal favorite. He would be up there with Pikachu and Mewtwo as the most popular Pokémon choice. With that said, some people may argue that his role as a Pokéball Pokémon cements him as having no chance of becoming playable, but others may feel that he should be promoted regardless. Mewtwo would probably still have more vocal fans than Charizard too, but Charizard would have some of the most vocal supporters of the potential Pokémon.

:ultdiddy: - Diddy would be requested a lot. As a major part of the Donkey Kong Country games, Diddy Kong would not fall too far behind Donkey Kong, and many people would love to see them both in Smash. I feel like some characters like Yoshi and Ganondorf would have slightly louder fanbases, but overall, Diddy would be a highly requested character for Smash.

:ultlucas: - Lucas would have plenty of fans, especially in Japan. Even though Lucas only appeared in one game, Japanese fans are very passionate about it, discussing how Mother 3 is the newest and last Mother game and how he could potentially be a better representative than Ness. People would also be discussing his moveset potential in a similar way the Ness fans would. Overall though, Lucas would be a wanted character in Japan and modestly desired overseas, where some people did play his game through a fan translation but not as many people being aware of him compared to Ness.

:ultsonic: - Without a doubt the most discussed third party character addition. Sonic's legacy is pretty close to Mario's, and many people who grew up in the 90's would love to see Mario and Sonic finally settle the score. Sonic has always been relevant too, with many games of variable quality being released ever since his inception. Sonic would be one of the most wanted characters for Smash, no question.

:ultkingdedede: - He would most likely be most people's second choice for a Kirby character. With his reoccurring appearances throughout the Kirby series, as well as being the "villain" of the Kirby games, he would have a very noticeable amount of support to become playable in Smash. Definitely one of the most wanted potential Brawl characters.

:ultolimar: - Olimar would have a decent amount of support at least. With the Pikmin series being cult classics, some people may feel that it should be represented in Smash. Olimar would probably be requested the most with Brawl, since Pikmin 2 would be somewhat new by then. Alph would be requested more for Smash 4 with the release of Pikmin 3. Regardless, Olimar and Alph may not earn a ton of vocal support, but people would definitely discuss and support them.

:ultlucario: - Most likely the most requested non-Gen I Pokémon rep. With his own movie and many appearances in the anime, plus being one of the poster boys for Mega Evolution, Lucario earned many fans over the years and would gather a lot of support for Smash. Pikachu and Mewtwo would overtake him in support, but Lucario would still be among the most wanted playable Pokémon, from Brawl to Ultimate.

:ultrob: - A potential "meme" pick, with a handful of people arguing how important he was to the NES's success and that he deserves tribute after cameos in a few games. Probably would have the smallest amount of support of any Brawl character, and would be seen as quite the surprise.

:ulttoonlink: - Toon Link may have been called "Wind Waker Link" in support for him. Like Young Link, people may have wanted a second Link to represent the Zelda games, as the games can differ in presentation and setting drastically. Overall though, Toon Link may have not seen too much support, but those that would want him love Wind Waker and may feel it deserves representation in Smash.

:ultwolf: - Wolf would most likely be the second most wanted Star Fox character after Fox himself. Most people would probably rally to get Fox in first, but if Fox was added, then Star Fox fans would fully show their support for Wolf. Wolf would probably be requested the most for Brawl, with Star Fox Assault not being too long ago and how people may have noticed the character development he received in that game, solidifying him further as an important character in the Star Fox franchise. He wouldn't have a very lud or vocal support group, but he would definitely have fans and people would support him.

:ultvillager: - Animal Crossing is one of the most successful Nintendo franchises today. With how popular the Animal Crossing games are, it would make sense to include the Villager in Smash. People may see him as a "meme" pick since he's just an ordinary character, but many would love how they could translate his lifestyle into a Smash Bros. moveset. Villager would have plenty of support from people for sure.

:ultmegaman: - The second most requested third party, only behind Sonic. With how important Mega Man is to Nintendo, especially with the classic series on the NES and X series on the SNES, many people would tell you how much the blue bomber means to them and how he fits right in with the other Nintendo characters. Meg Man would be among the most requested characters without a doubt.

:ultwiifittrainer: - Meme pick that almost no one even considered before. Regardless of how well the Wii Fit games sold, people would never see the Wii Fit Trainer as her own character and would be easily dismissed by most. Probably the smallest fanbase of any potential Smash character, and that's saying a lot.

:ultrosalina: - Rosalina has enjoyed plenty of popularity ever since her debut in Super Mario Galaxy. While people would be asking for characters like Yoshi and Wario more, Rosalina fans care about their character a lot and would defintitely want her to join Smash as well. People may also compare her with Daisy and argue which one would get in first, but more people might side with Rosalina since she is seemingly more popular and appeared in 3D World. Rosalina would get plenty of requests.

:ultlittlemac: - Little Mac would always have fans who would want him in Smash. However, after the release of the Punch-Out reboot on Wii, Little Mac would become relevant again and earn new fans in the process, making him a good choice for Smash 4. Japanese gamers are not really familiar with Little Mac though, so it would mostly be the rest of the world who would support Little Mac. With that said, people do like the Punch-Out games and would definitely support Little Mac.

:ultgreninja: - Greninja has among the most interesting circumstances of any potential Smash 4 character. In the anime, main protagonist Ash Ketchum used him, including an "Ash-Greninja" form. This means that Greninja has gained a lot of exposure in the Pokémon anime, as well as the games with Ash-Greninja's inclusion in Sun & Moon. Before Smash 4, it seemed uncertain if Greninja should be the "new gen" rep, but after Smash 4 and before Ultimate, he is still very prominent in the series and is seeming more popular than any Gen VII Pokémon. If Greninja wasn't in Smash 4, he may be a prime Pokémon candidate for Ultimate, but it's hard to say when he's competing with so many other Pokémon for a playable spot. Regardless, I think he would have plenty of support post-Smash 4, but some support pre-Smash 4.

:4mii: - The Miis would have some support as they are iconic to modern Nintendo. However, people may have difficulty coming up with how they could work, and some people may also see them as joke choices. Miis would recieve a modest amount of support.

:ultpalutena: - Palutena wouldn't even be considered for Brawl too much, but after Kid Icarus Uprising, people may want Palutena to join in Smash 4 after her resurgence. She was argubly the second most important character in Uprising, and if Pit wasn't in Brawl, then people would be supporting them both. Palutena would have a good amount of support after Brawl.

:ultdarkpit: - Dark Pit would not be discussed seriously too much. People may see him as a joke pick, let alone even consider him as a viable choice. Dark Pit would be one of the least supported potential Smash 4 characters for sure.

:ultpacman: - The most iconic character in video games. When you think of the arcades, you think of Pac-Man. Even your parents know who Pac-Man is. Sonic and Mega Man would receive more support overall, but with Namco having developed Smash 4 and Ultimate, Pac-Man would definitely be discussed as a possible third party newcomer. Pac-Man would possibly have a sizable amount of support.

:ultrobin - Robin would definitely get some support. People would discuss how Robin would be a great Fire Emblem rep, since he's not bound to using a sword and can utilize magic based attacks. Plus, people would talk about how Awakening was an important game in the franchise and it deserves at least Robin as one of its reps.

:ultlucina: - Lucina would have a quiet fanbase, but some people would support her. Some people would argue why Chrom or Robin should added before Lucina would even be considered. Others may discuss how Lucina could even play in Smash, and if she has enough material to work with to be a unique enough character.

:ultshulk: - Shulk would have quite a bit of support. People would discuss how Xenoblade Chronicles is such a great game and how it deserves representation in Smash. Other may argue and state that the series is too niche compared to other potential series. However, the release of Xenoblade Chronicles X and 2 would increase interest in the franchise, and Shulk would be one of the frontrunners for a Xenoblade rep.

:ultbowserjr: - Bowser Jr. would have plently of support. More people would want Yoshi and Wario I feel, but Bowser Jr. has plenty of fans and they have arguments on how Jr. could play differently from his father. People may have not considered the clown car as a viable move-set option though since is only really shown with it in New Super Mario Bros. Wii pre-Smash 4. Same with the Koopalings, who would seem like a pipedream.

:ultduckhunt: - Duck Hunt has been a joke pick for years, and that would likely remain if they were never in Smash. With that said, many gamersin the 80's have at least tried Duck Hunt before, and the game isn't that obscure compared to other choices like the Ice Climbers. Duck Hunt would always have a small fanbase, but one that passionately wants them in Smash.

:ultryu: - Ryu would be discussed quite a bit if Mega Man was in. If Mega Man was never in Smash, Ryu would be seen as an after thought. Even though Street Fighter is argubly Capcom's most famous game series, Mega Man holds substantial value to Nintendo fans, making Ryu overall have a modest amount of support.

:ultcloud: - Cloud would almost never be brought up, even though he's the face of Final Fantasy, the most iconic RPG series in the industry. This is due to his shallow amount of appearances on Nintendo consoles, and the fact that Final Fantasy VII is only playable on PlayStation and PC. Cloud's lack of a presence on Nintendo platforms could also portray him as a joke choice. People would probably be asking for another Square character like Sora or Geno instead of Cloud, giving him an unusually low amount of support even though he's such a popular character.

:ultcorrin: - Corrin may have been precieved as a viable rep for Ultimate if we didn't ahve as many playable Fire Emblem characters. Fans of Fire Emblem could argue how Corrin would seperate himself from other Fire Emblem characters with him being part-dragon, plus the fact that Fire Emblem Echoes released a couple years back. Corrin would have a decent, if not good, amount of support.

:ultbayonetta: - With Bayonetta 2 being a Nintendo exclusive game and Bayonetta 3 on the way, Bayonetta would be a prominently discussed third party character. Many people have critically acclaimed the Bayonetta games, and she's steadly evolving into an icon of modern gaming. Bayonetta would see plenty of support for Smash.

Wow, nice write up! I would say if Diddy wasn’t in Brawl, there would be a huge outcry for him in 4.

This is quite an interesting take on things! I certainly would have gone for Bowser and DK most at first for being some of my first favorite childhood characters, and certainly Pit and Palu after Uprising. Heck, maybe even Dedede and MK since I did watch a bit of that Kirby TV show back then... though my interest for those two would probably die down as time went by.

I remember the days of pre-Smash 4 where Robin as his own character barely got any recognition; he was just seen as a blank slate for the players to project themselves on to, and there was barely any fanart of him to begin with. But when his reveal trailer for Smash 4 came out, suddenly everybody acknowledged Robin and wanted to play Fire Emblem Awakening as him and not as themselves for once. So if Robin never got announced for Smash 4, he wouldn't be so popular within the Fire Emblem/Smash community. I don't even think he would've appeared outside of Awakening if it wasn't for Smash 4, so he would've been excluded from games that boosted his popularity as his own character like Fire Emblem Heroes, Fire Emblem Warriors, and Fire Emblem Cipher. I'd imagine that more well-known mages from either the Archanea (FE1/3/11/12/13), Elibe (FE6/7), or Tellius (FE9/10) series would have a stronger support/fanbase.

But aside from that, great read! It really showcases how most of Smash's roster are important or well-known Nintendo/videogaming characters, and how some of them are so out of left field that nobody would've even imagined them being in Smash in the first place.

Still up Peach's dress.
Is this assuming no characters are currently in Smash? Only certain characters wouldn't be requested until others got in;

example:
No one is going to ask for :ultluigi: until :ultmario: is in, because that'd be weird to have Luigi before Mario.

That said I'll have a go:

Mostly this, but I would definitely move Lucario and Greninja up (Decidueye has a pretty good amount of support and isn't nearly as popular as those 2), move Palutena and Rosalina up a bit, and move Snake down just because realistically if he wasn't added in Brawl, no one would ever think he would be in Smash for a multitude of reasons.

Its difficult to imagine what Smash would be like if listed, Mario, DK or Pikachu were yet to be playable because I cannot for the life of me even imagine Smash without them.

Bowser, Ganondorf, Diddy Kong would see a lot of attention, no one would understand why their missing.

I don't see hype for Olimar and my dude Ness would be like none-existence.

Everyone except the retros (perhaps Ice Climbers a little), Dr. Mario (maybe a little), Pichu, Roy, and Ivysaur.

I'll just go over my mains as I don't want to drag my post too long:

:ultmewtwo: - Was my most wanted character in Melee before unlocking him and I'm glad I got him. But if he didn't get in back then or later, I would have voted for him in the Smash Ballot instead of K. Rool. Sorry K. Rool. :p

:ultganondorf: - Was the character I used the most in Melee and was my 2nd most wanted before unlocking him. Like Mewtwo, I would have prioritize support of his inclusion before K. Rool, Ridley, or even Banjo & Kazooie.

:ultbowser: - I would have supported him over K. Rool, Ridley, and Banjo & Kazooie like I said about the two above.

:ultdoc: - Was my 3rd most used character in Melee. But if he didn't get in, I honestly wouldn't even think about him.

:ultmetaknight: - Was my most wanted Kirby character before his inclusion in Brawl. Still would have supported him, but not nearly as much as Mewtwo, Ganondorf, Bowser, King K. Rool, Ridley, or Banjo & Kazooie.

:ultkingdedede: - Was my 2nd most wanted Kirby character before his inclusion in Brawl. I would say the same about him as I said about Meta Knight above.

:ultpalutena: - I tried her out when Smash 4 came out and I fell in love with her play style and her design. But if she didn't get in, I really wouldn't think about her that much.

:ultlucina: - I never played any Fire Emblem game but I liked Lucina's faster play style over Marth. But if she didn't get in, I wouldn't even think about her.

:ultbowserjr: - I would have supported him, but he would be in the back of the bus in my mind.

:ultduckhunt: - Was so out of left field and was probably my favorite Retro rep out of all of them. But if he didn't get in, he wouldn't even be a thought in my mind almost.

:ultridley: - I would have supported him, but I would have prioritize support for Mewtwo, Ganondorf, Bowser, and K. Rool first.

:ultsimon: - I probably would have supported him, but like Bowser Jr. he would be in the back of the bus in my mind.

:ultkrool: - I would have supported him, but prioritize support for Mewtwo, Ganondorf, and Bowser first.

:ultbanjokazooie: - I would have supported them, but prioritize support for Mewtwo, Ganondorf, Bowser, K. Rool, and Ridley first.

:ultdoc::ultduckhunt::ulticeclimbers::ultpiranha::ultrob::ultroy::ultwiifittrainer::ultzss: are characters no one would have asked for.

:ultcorrin::ultike::ultrobin::ultincineroar: are characters who would have gotten no more or less support than any other arbitrary FE or Pokemon character. Every new FE game has a main character with a fanbase who thinks they're suddenly the most deserving FE character ever, somehow.

Everyone else would have had a group of fans of at least notable size requesting them in Smash.

if :ultpeach::ultzelda: :ultbowser:weren't in Melee.
If :ultdiddy::ultmetaknight::ultkingdedede::ultwario: and a new pokemon rep weren't in Brawl.
if :ultshulk: and a new pokemon rep were absent from Sm4sh
If there wasn't a Fire Emblem character before Sm4sh I'd bet there's be a huge outcry for one by then.
If :ultinkling::ultridley::ultsimon::ultkrool: weren't in Ultimate.
