They don't. Nobody, least of all Nintendo, likes acknowledging them outside of YouTube Poop.

I know, I'm just explaining that this is off topic for a thread on Smashboards.
In that case your explanation is incorrect because these are the Legend of Zelda boards so topics about the Legend of Zelda are ontopic here.

Maybe they saved them for the new timeline of which BotW is part. The new timeline may be like this:

Faces of Evil — Zelda's Adventure — Wand of Gamelon
|
Breath of the Wild

The timeline starts with FoE where a split occurs. In the normal timeline Zelda refuses to kiss Link as a reward and Link gets psychologically crushed thus becoming weak leading to him getting captured in ZA. After that they resort to sending the King first and use Link as back-up because the King has becoe a greater hero due to Link being weakened from psychological torture by Zelda refusing to kiss him. This results in WoG.

In an alternative timeline Zelda kisses Link which results in them marrying and having babies. Ganon however gets jealous because he wanted to have Zelda so he spends a long time learning black magic. In BotW he has learned how to transform into Calamity Ganon and tries using that power to try to take revenge on Link's and Zelda's son and daughter.
