First time playing a character with a Z-Air, and just wondering when it is best used. Do you use it in neutral? Shield poking? Edgegaurding? Etc.

It's pretty good as a combo extension and/or a mix-up. It out-spaces a good majority of other characters intangible. Zair has a lot of versatility to just experiment *shrugs*

Z-air one of Toon Links most safe aerials to use in the neutral, and is especially safe when spaced properly. The Hook-shot can provide combos in the form of Z-air -> Grab(low %) and Z-air -> Side Special(mid %). Around 75-85% Z-air will force the opponent to tech which can lead to kills or damage if you guess right. It's a fun aerial to use offstage against opponents with a bad recovery as its low knock back spells doom for the likes of Little Mac, Dr. Mario, Luigi, Ganondorf, ect.. Think of it as something to use while you wait for your boomerang to come back. Idk if this needs to be mentioned, but it also provides Toon Link with an essential recovery mix-up so it's worth learning its ledge grab range in all directions.

You can force tech situations with it, especially if you have rage. It can combo as well, but you need the right spacing.
