what's wrong with cloned movesets?

While it's true that they have the capability, I doubt either will return. Pichu evolved into Brawl's Pikachu and Ness and Lucas being in would be redundant. Also, everyone knkows that Krystal will be in some form in Brawl.

The reason two characters would share a moveset in the first place, instead of making a new moveset, is time. If a character didn't quite make it while the movesets were being designed, they can take moves or entire movesets to still be included, just having the same animations as another character.
Movesets are difficult and timely to make, copying and editing the moveset is quick, and fairly simple. Not to say that they should be taking short-cuts, but if they're out of time to design movesets they can easily make another character, using the same moveset with different attributes. Which pretty much makes them different moves with similar to identical animations.

funny stuff i had a dream last night that i was watching a video and doc mario was clearly visable. It was strange. But anyways i would love to see all clones return as alt coustumes. But of course excluding falco and gdorf who can easily have their own movesets.

Dr. Mario is the only clone who can be a costume for a character. All the other characters have a height difference.

I believe Roy is shorter.
You are correct. Though he's not so much shorter that he couldn't be Marth's costume, given a bit of a height adjustment. But I don't like the idea of Marth having a Roy costume, the thought irks me. Only Dr.Mario makes a reasonable costume.

cloned movesets are a way of nintendo sneaking in a extra character without having to put any effort into it.
