In the first Pilotwings game the game manual mentions that the Flight Club is a mystery school with an unknown founder. Not to mention that one of the instructors, Lance has a hidden past himself. Secret Command stages 1 and 2 seem to hint that there's a military connection. Especially since one of the government agents turns out to be Big Al's brother.
So what do you guys think is the Flight Club's secret? Here's my theory:
1. The rumor is true that Lance used to be an Air Force pilot, only he moved into counter-terrorism for some reason. (The fact that he speaks six languages may hint that he may have also been a spy.)
2. The Flight Club is actually a secret Air Force group who trains willing civilian pilots for the jobs the military can't take.
