What's this thing in the Trophy Collection Room?

One day I wish to recreate this room in every detail (using amiibos for trophies, naturally). I already have the planets, consoles, and TV and I still need to find a marble table, but I have no idea what this grey thing is.

I intend to make the American version of this room, not the Japanese version I've posted. I post the Japanese version because I couldn't find a pic of the American version, but the grey thing is in both versions.

I think it was supposed to be a lamp... I have without a doubt that was the model that an intern made.

No sense for a lamp to be next to a TV when it's in a cabinet.
