What's the best way to stuff approaches from fast characters?

I have this issue where a fast character like Greninja will land a hit or two and end up dragging me around the stage off that hit. How to I stuff approaches from them in the first place? Should I play aggro on them and stick to them instead of letting them come to me or something? I play Chrom by the way
