If you enjoy characters that snowball really hard, solid neutral tools, edgeguarding, breaking shields, and 100 different ways to style... DK is definitely the character for you! He also has some great player representation in Hikaru and Tweek. The discord for Donkey Kong is a great place to learn a lot about the character including frame data, what to do in certain matchups and overall tech. Mods there are also very helpful and are active as well!

People that like to SYTLEon some kids. Plus you get that kong meme factor. So if you want to play smash STYLE on kids and be a big meme. PLAY THE KONG. He's not easy to pick up. You will have to learn to space and handle projectiles but in the end it is worth it when you cargo grab a poor kid and stage spike him with a back throw.

Literally all of the above answers are correct, here's why I specifically enjoy DK:
DK doesn't care about obstacles. You can beat people down and dunk them and it's the most fun thing to do. Even better is when people are at a high percentage, you can fair them while they're on-stage and bounce them into the top blast zone.
It's so fun.
