For fun, I imagined how the lists of 30 games would be for the other home consoles of Nintendo since the Classic Edition of the NES has been announced since July 14th.

Double Dragon II: The Revenge

Punch-Out!! Featuring Mr. Dream
StarTropics
Super C
Super Mario Bros.

Xenoblade Chronicles
Zack & Wiki: Quest for Barbaros' Treasure

I tried to make them as realistic as possible following some rules:
- No compilation games like Super Mario All-Stars or Metroid Prime Trilogy, that would be too easy.
- No games which now belong to another company (for example the Rare games which aren't DK and Star Fox).
- No games which required the use of another peripheral to be fully played (such as the Pokémon Stadium games, the DK Bongos games, Four Sword Adventures...).
- Games must have been released in the West.
- M-rated games are to be avoided in order to adress the systems to the highest number of customers.
- And games have to be from among the most popular ones overall.

I'm planning to make lists for handhelds as well, until the Classic Edition of the Game Boy gets announced as well.

Feel free to share your thoughts, and also to copy these lists and make your own modifications on them!

I promise I'll make an SNES one but right now I need some planning out. But I do have my own rules I'm forcing on myself:
  • Only games that are currently available on Wii/3DS/Wii U Virtual Console
  • Like the official NES one, 13 of the games are third party (I'll try to get the same companies too but not guaranteed)
  • The rest of your rules
Just gimme some time.

Made some changes to my N64 and GCN lists:

- Since the Mini NES includes a west-only game (StarTropics), I finally decided to replace Bomberman 64 and Goemon's Great Adventure by Dr. Mario 64 and Rayman 2.
- I also forgot to put Star Fox Adventures and thus I replace Eternal Darkness for it, since I said no M-rated games.

I hope Nintendo makes New NES Classic Edition based on this.

And it includes 30 new NES games. :awesome:

Hmm, well, personally I wouldn't change much about your list for SNES, except that I would cut something for Zombies ate my Neighbors. N64 absolutely needs Crusin' USA and, in my opinion, Star Wars: Shadows of the Empire.

I don't imagine we'd get 30 games for any other potential upcoming 'Classic Edition' releases, at least not without a notable price hike, but I do think we'll see a 'Classic Edition' SNES, which I'd be all over. (Unless the NES one bombs.)

Oh, I'm positive there will be a SNES Classic Edition eventually. It's just too good to waste... I'm sure that will really sell. Same with the NES.

I also hope there will be a NES Zapper Edition with 30 more games, including Zapper games.

It'd have the same problem that retro gamers have, the Zapper is incompatible with non CRT televisions, so unless Nintendo came up with some awesome new technology (which I fully believe they can) then Zapper games wouldn't be feasable, sadly.

And yet Zapper games are available on Wii U Virtual Console... so I think they are feasible.

I don't think SNES Classic Edition will have multiplayer games that use the Super Multitap. I don't expect to see games like Super Bomberman and Secret of Mana, unfortunately. I think we will have several games for up to 2 players only.

Imma just leave this idea here:

GAMEBOY CLASSIC

3: Super Mario Land 3 Wario Land

4: Metroid II Return of Samus

5: Final Fantasy Adventure

6: Final Fantasy Legend

7: Legend of Zelda Link's Awakening

8: Pokemon Yellow Version

9: Dr. Mario

10: Adventures of Lolo

11: Mole Mania

12: Kid Icarus of Myths and Monsters

13: Balloon Kid

14: Castlevania Legends

15: Donkey Kong Land

16: Donkey Kong Land 2

17: Donkey Kong Land 3

18: Kirby's Dreamland

19: Kirby's Dreamland 2

20: For The Frog The Bell Tolls

21: Megaman: Dr. Wily's Revenge

22: Megaman V

23: Operation C

24: Donkey Kong '94

25: Yoshi

26: Gargoyle's Quest

30: Pokemon Pinball

I think we get this after the SNES Mini and before the N64 Mini.

  1. ActRaiser
  2. Chrono Trigger
  3. Contra III: The Alien Wars
  4. Donkey Kong Country
  5. Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest
  6. EarthBound
  7. F-Zero
  8. Final Fantasy III
  9. Final Fight 2
  10. Gradius III
  11. Harvest Moon
  12. Kirby Super Star
  13. Mega Man X
  14. Ogre Battle: March of the Black Queen
  15. Pilotwings
  16. Pocky & Rocky
  17. Star Fox
  18. Super Castlevania IV
  19. Super Ghouls 'n Ghosts
  20. Super Mario Kart
  21. Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
  22. Super Mario World
  23. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island
  24. Super Metroid
  25. Super Punch-Out!!
  26. Super Street Fighter II: The New Challengers
  27. Tetris Attack
  28. The Legend of the Mystical Ninja
  29. The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
  30. Zombies Ate My Neighbors
I know there are dozens of amazing games I left out but I still think this wish list offers a variety of genres and plenty of multiplayer fun (even though some of them are still unavailable on the Virtual Console).

Edit

So, I was thinking about how Nintendo stopped making more NES Classic Edition... and I was thinking... maybe it would be nice to have a compilation "NES Switch Edition" where this tiny Switch cartridge holds all 30 games from the NES Classic Edition.

17 out of 21. Not bad.

I missed out Kirby's Dream Course, Secret of Mana, Star Fox 2, and Street Fighter II Turbo.

I really hope Yoshi's Island is the SNES version and not the GBA version.

Edit

Who else think we might get N64 Classic Edition next year? :awesome:

I think what might top the surprise of Star Fox 2 being included in SNES Classic Edition would be Rare games being included in N64 Classic Edition.

Honestly, I have strong doubts stuff like Game Boy or Nintendo 64 Classic Editions happening.
GameBoy I'm 50/50 on. On one hand it'd make a ton of sense. On the other hand, it'd need at least one version of Pokémon to sell well, probably, and I'm not sure if I can see GameFreak going for that. Not that it doesn't have other great games though, like the Super Mario Land, Wario Land, and Donkey Kong Land games (a whole lotta Lands), Kirby titles, Metroid II, Link's Awakening, and Mole Mania, as well as handheld Mega Man titles.

It looks like Nintendo 64 Classic Edition might be coming.

http://www.businessinsider.com/nintendo-64-classic-edition-console-trademark-2017-7

http://comicbook.com/gaming/2017/07/20/nintendo-64-classic-edition-trademark/#1

My N64 Classic Edition (albeit somewhat unrealistic) wish list:
  1. Banjo-Kazooie
  2. Banjo-Tooie
  3. Bomberman 64
  4. Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness
  5. Diddy Kong Racing
  6. Donkey Kong 64
  7. F-Zero X
  8. GoldenEye 007
  9. Harvest Moon 64
  10. Jet Force Gemini
  11. Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
  12. Mario Golf
  13. Mario Kart 64
  14. Mario Party 3
  15. Mario Tennis
  16. Ogre Battle 64: Person of Lordly Caliber
  17. Paper Mario
  18. Pokémon Puzzle League
  19. Pokémon Snap
  20. Pokémon Stadium 2
  21. Quest 64
  22. Sin & Punishment
  23. Star Fox 64
  24. Super Mario 64
  25. Super Smash Bros.
  26. The Legend of Zelda: Majora's Mask
  27. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
  28. Wave Race 64
  29. WWF No Mercy
  30. Yoshi's Story
Out of these, the only questionable choices are the ones that aren't available on Virtual Console (highlighted in yellow). I included them because I really liked them and/or I know they were some of the best-selling N64 games.

As for Pokémon Stadium 2... it would be amazing if the N64 controller could connect with the 3DS (and/or Game Boy Classic Edition) and we could transfer our Pokémon from RBY and GSC to the N64 game. :awesome:

I just hope that N64 Classic Edition is able to save data from games that required the Controller Pak... like Mario Kart 64 and especially Castlevania: Legacy of Darkness and Quest 64 (I really would like to be able to finally finish this game).

Apparently Nintendo just trademarked the N64 striking a similarity as to how the NES and SNES did.
Possibly an E3 announcement in the pipeline.

I hope the controllers have rumble packs and microphones installed internally.

Here's some of the games, I really want included on the system.

01) Super Mario 64
02) Mario Kart 64
03) Mario Golf
04) Mario Tennis
05) Super Smash Bros.
06) Paper Mario
07) Mario Party
08) Mario Party 2
09) Mario Party 3
10) Donkey Kong 64
11) Kirby 64: The Crystal Shards
12) Yoshi’s Story
13) The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
14) The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask
15) F-Zero X
16) Pokémon Stadium
17) Pokémon Stadium 2
18) Pokémon Snap
19) Star Fox 64
20) Dr. Mario 64
21) Pilotwings 64
22) Excitebike 64
23) Hey You, Pikachu!
24) Pokémon Puzzle League
25) Wave Race 64
26) 1080 Snowboarding

If i'm allowed to ask for too much i'd love to see the localizations of these games:

27) Animal Crossing
28) Custom Robo
29) Custom Robo V2
30) Sin and Punishment

And maybe the completed version of:

31) Earthbound 64

These classic edition things are my prized possessions. I actually spent quite a long time customizing them to my liking.

I got fed up waiting for an N64 classic edition, and bought a used N64 and an Everdrive, because it had been too long since I played an N64, and a lot of things were tickling my nostalgia bone at the time. But if we do get an N64 classic edition, i'll probably still end up trying to get my hands on it... something tells me it won't be as "customizable" as the NES and SNES though, which is a shame.

What I really want is a GBA classic though. There's too many games I missed out on for GBA.

For some reason I kind of have a feeling they may do a gameboy classic before n64. I maybe overthinking things but I also question how many games would be in a n64 classic as the total dropped from 30 to 21 last time. Maybe they would just retain 20ish or probably get away with 15 but idk how well only 10 games would go over. Although once again the drop last could mean nothing so who knows.

I wouldn't mind the Gamecube getting the same thing, if it happens here's a list of games i would want:
1. Mario Party 4-7 (Seperate)
2. Double Dash
3. Mario Sunshine
4. Luigi's Mansion
5. Wario World
6. Kirby Air Ride
(I've been wishing to have a Gamecube but they are properly outdated and expensive)
