Imagine the alternate timeline where Rare was never sold to Microsoft. What would change? Banjo in Brawl? Perfect Dark as the evergreen Nintendo FPS? Portable Battletoads on the GBA? Project Dream actually gets realized as a full on action RPG? Any and all thoughts are welcome! :ultbanjokazooie:

It would have been wonderful, most likely. More DK games. Banjo in Melee or, if time constraints didn't allow for that, Brawl. More Conker games. Conker added in either Brawl or 4, same goes for K Rool with his increased popularity thanks to more DK games. Starfox Adventures being the non-Starfox game it was originally intended to be, with a longer and better development cycle turning it into a beloved classic. Banjo-Threeie. Donkey Kong Racing. Maybe a game starring Timbur from Diddy Kong Racing - it really does feel like they planned on doing more with the cast.

Yes. We can see the games Rare was going to make for Nintendo before the buyout by Microsoft/Xbox Game Studios, true sequels to Banjo-Kazooie and Perfect Dark, Grabbed by the Ghoulies and Kameo: Elements of Power would be on the Gamecube And Banjo-Kazooie in Smash starting in Melee.

They might have made more games. I'm not a business expert but there's no way Rare was worth that 300 mil, considering just how little content they made in the last 20 years.

If Nintendo was the one to buyout Rare instead of Microsoft, we would have most likely gotten the following:

- Banjo-Threeie, Conker's Other Bad Fur Day, Donkey Kong Racing, Perfect Dark: Zero, DK64 sequel all on the Gamecube.

- Mainline games being released for all major Rare IPs on the Gamecube through the Switch.

- Banjo & Kazooie, Diddy Kong, and K. Rool getting into Smash earlier than they did.

- Other mainline Rare protagonist and antagonist characters would be a part of Smash's roster by now like:

Conker
Berri
Battletoads
Dark Queen
Joanna Dark
Juno & Vela

And other DK characters like:

Dixie Kong
Cranky Kong
Funky Kong
Lanky Kong
Tiny Kong

Would probably all be in. It would be a gloriously timeline to say the least.
