if there is a thread with this already, i apologize, feel free to lock this thread, but the search engine wasn't working so sorry if i copied anyone. anyway, as far as i heard from gimpyfish's info on characters since e for all, i think i know why some characters have been nerfed and why have been buffed. i believe that sakurai is trying to balance each character so that they all have a equal chance of winning. plus, i'm sure he wants everyone to pick characters that are their favorites, not because there are high on the tier list (which sounds stupid to me really that a character like fox would be most common among players just because he's good and not a fav. character among players.)
he wants each character to be enjoyable with their own inique battle styles. (sorry, but i heard from somewhere that clones like marth and falco would not return to brawl, and i think it should be that way because who wants a character with similar battle moves? thats a waste of a character slot in my own view point.) so heres what i heard so far of a few characeters and a few details about them:

Nerfed
Fox:
fox's shine is harder to do.
his uair doesn't kill at low percentages.
he's a floaty character now(actually, all characters are floaty, but i'm sure some fast falls are faster than others)
his blaster doesn't go all the way across the stage.

Peach:
her dsmash move doesn't kill or do high damage even if they all hit.
her FS seems pointless, but you can set up for it.
double jump reduced
recovery move can be punished more easily.

Buffed
Kirby(my absolute favorite. got info. from threads of kirby):
attacks have more range.
less lag on attacks.
jumps seem longer and faster.
seems a little heavier.
attacks are quicker.
the hammer now swings horizontally in the air and does it 2 times!
his dash attack is impressive and has less lag.
seems to be slightly faster overall.

Mario:
his attacks have more range and power.
less lag.
harder to edge guard.
fair can hit verticlally or spike depending on the angle of his punch.
moves faster overall.

these are just a few examples. i only stated some nerfs and buffs. what i believe is that high tier characters will be nerfed and low tiers will be buffed. we can see this with fox and kiby. fox is nerfed, kirby's buffed. but this could balance each character out and we don't always have to pick characters that are high on the tier list. i think the tier list wouldn't be neccessary on helping you pick a good character. every character is good, you just need to practice and adjust to their battle styles. and if you can do it with more than 1 character, go for it. its more fun to play with different characters than to play constantly with a high tier character. i think that might be what sakurai is trying to do, and i'm all for it. melee has had some unfairness on some characters to be honest. what do you guys think?

Pikachu is more or less buffed. According to GimpyFish, Pikachu's down smash is lethal and his Thunder attack has much less lag, so instant voltage straight down. Plus Pikachu seems to have more range and comboing power. Read GimpyFish's thread if you want all the details because these are just a little bit of what I actually remember.

And about Pikachu's down smash, it's supposedly somewhat like Peach's down smash from Melee, and has high killing potential. So if you're looking for a finisher, Pika's got a good set of finishing smashes.

Bowsers been considerably buffed. Faster, less lag, heavier. Just alot easier to use than in melee

More balanced ftw. :)

Thanks,
Pikachu prevails again.
Now I hope he has his bday hat, haha.
Now, Bowser was fine in melee I think.
It was Ganondorf who seemed slow, maybe because he didn't LOOK fat.
But still, he should be faster in the new one (if he's in) and maybe float above
ground.
haaa

Gimpyfish himself says bowser was almost unplayable in melee, Bowser greatly appreciates the buffs

if you think Bowser was completely balanced fine compared to Fox or marth.. your wrong :lick:

he was bottom tier in melee although that means nothing, it just means bowser players didnt win alot of tournaments. Maybe part of the reason is how slow/laggy he was

Marth wasn't a clone, Roy was.

Anyways, pretty good ideas.:)
true, marth isn't a clone, but since ike is like him, he would be considered a clone. ike is slow, but powerful. i don't know about marth being in brawl, but you can hope. sorry i hope that he doesn't make it. its my opinion, don't worry about it.

I heard Kirby can swallow/suck items in Brawl now (to possibly catch them). Is this true?
