What happens if you don't save either princess?

Some of the SSE footage from E for All showed Kirby battling Petey. In this footage, Kirby can attack Petey directly, not just the cages. So you could defeat Petey without touching the cages.

So I ask you, what happens if you don't save either princess?

I don't really know. I'm guessing that the cage that took the most damage will be the one to break after Petey falls.

But what happens if you don't damage either cage?

There are two health bars, one for Peach's cage and Zelda's cage. If you can attack Petey, I don't think it will do you much good, you have to at least break one of the cages.

i bet there's either a cutscene where you pick one or you get neither, which would suck.

also, if you were really paying attention, you would have noticed that when petey attacked with the cages, it hurt them a very tiny bit. you might need a high res screen to see, but it did.
