What does PAL stand for?

I keep seeing this on release dates. What does it stand for? I would be delighted if someone would clear this up for me.

Not quite sure what PAL stands for but its the version of videogames released in Europe and Australia.

Pretty much games run at 50 Frames per Second, while in Japan and the Americas play at 60 Frames per Second.

As nice as that would be, he apparently got banned.

But yeah, this doesn't require a thread, btu it's for games released in Europe and Australia.

The games CAN run at 50htz, but they all have a 60htz mode, some not even having a 50 mode (Metroid Prime 2 was 60htz only)
