What do you think of each character gaining a "costume" change that isn't them?

What do you think of each character gaining just 1 "costume" change and that change made them look like a completely different character? (Ex: Wolf for Fox, Pichu for Pikachu) What do you think of each character gaining just 1 costume change and that change made them look like a completely different character? That way, instead of getting 6 color swaps, we actually get 6 color swaps and 1 "costume" change. We've seen Wario now, so this is a revised version of what I originally wrote.

If you don't understand my question, I'll make it more simple: What if we get 1 costume swap that made the character look like someone else. This would get rid of the clone characters officially, while actually kind of keeping them. This would definitely fix the roster to make it look they have double the amount of characters but not entirely so.

*Most of you are totally confused huh?*

They could actually put 1 costume change in this game if they wanted to in order to test this out. For example, a "costume" change for Fox would actually be Wolf, or Pikachu being Pichu, Dr. Mario as a stand-in for Mario, Puppet Zelda (from Twilight Princess) or Princess Midna (or even Shiek) for Zelda, and Roy or Sothe for Marth/Ike (well this one will be extremely complicated).

They could have a little, some, or even no change movelist while their final smash doesn't have to change (but I highly recommend they should change them). In other words, for example, we could kind of select Puppet Zelda from the roster, but instead of gaining her own spot, she would be sharing Zelda's spot and Zelda's color swaps. Get it? She would be in Zelda's spot but would be selectable exactly like a color swap.

I know this question seems completely confusing but if you read this over a few times, you will understand what I'm talking about.

Anyway, this is just a thought. I'm sure this won't occur in Brawl since Brawl updated the characters graphics to look so more detailed. But it could happen in a possible sequel for Brawl. Or it might occur in Brawl (slim chances). They did make everything (that is everything that seems likely, not like Halo stages in Brawl) such as Sonic in Brawl and stage-maker mode.

Everyone can debate about this right here, right now. After all, the game hasn't come out yet.

*If you don't know what I'm really talking about, I'll try to make it clearer once I hear a few of your questions. Also, sorry for mentioning Zelda so often. She was my favorite character in Melee.

Why would Sheik or Midna be a costume swap for Zelda at all? That would mean they would have the same moveset, which would make no sense at all. Instead of making things simpler, that would make things more complicated. Sheik would be a transformation if anything, and Midna would be a separate character.

If it's a costume change that results in them not being them, then it's a whole new character, surely.

The whole point of the costume change is to give that character one of their own costume changes, which is why Wario is probably the special case, since he has his Warioland costume and his Wario Ware costume. It's like Fusion Suit Samus, but a step further in that Wario changes clothes. However, there is a Dark Link, so there probably is a small amount of potential for a character palette swap.

If they were going to go through the trouble of modeling them, they'd be better off as a seperate "clone" character than as someone's alt "costume".

I like clones, let's just say I'd rather have 5 clones than 2 new characters. Some characters have small attributes that people don't like, clones add variation to those attributes, sometimes it's for the better and sometimes it's for the worse.

I welcome any clones in Brawl just as long as they have different attributes such as speed, strength and so on.

I was wondering if dark samus could be an alternate costume for samus just like dark link is an alternate costume for link.

i liked the fact that zelda and sheik are completely different characters. There should be someome in brawl who has a zelda/shiek esque transformation. Except this time, make the original worth playing. We never see zelda vs sheik in compeition, it would be cool to see variaions of the same char go head to head.

I don't have a clue why we're even bringing this up anymore.

It was clearly deconfirmed today.

I can say for certain he has 8, but I'm pretty sure he has more.
Uhhh wait, did you READ the Dojo update?

Sakurai himself, said that the costume change was for Wario only.

Well looks like nobody knows how to have fun in a thread, I guess I'll start:

Roy should be Ike's costume change, if Marth is still in. Maybe Marth can get a Sigurd costume?

Wolf, of course, should be Fox's.

Samus - Dark Samus

Pokemon Trainer - Female version

Diddy - Dixie

Sonic - Shadow

Yoshi - Boshi

EDIT: Looks like the two above me got the idea :)

Also, Snake is only confirmed to have 5 costumes. Grey, Red camo, Blue camo, Grey camo, and they need a green for teams on top of those 4.

I think it would be a great idea. Though not all should have ALT costumes, just ones that "deserve" it. Oh, and for all of you stating " Only Wario!" or " Wario only" or any other form of saying it won't happen for any other character I believe they lied about being able to only use a smash ball once in a round, right? Also on the Dojo it says "But Wario alone is special..." correct me if I'm wrong but doesn't "..." refer to a thought not being complete, MAYBE thats his way of hiding it from the public. IF ALT costumes are possible for other characters he probably will keep it a secret. Why? Who knows it's Sakurai after all. Maybe thats what the coins can be used for other than trophies. lol.

UGH! plz no! D-Samus's most powerful move are nothing like Samus's...

Also the Samus costume in E for all was either phazon suit or dark suit.

D-samus alt costume is deconfirmed. If anything, She'll be a PC or AT at worst case scenario.

I'm really hoping that Wario doesn't actually turn out to be the only character with a different outfit. There is so much potential there:

I'll admit, it wouldn't work for some characters (Link as Young Link, for example), but nevertheless it's still a nice little quirk to add to the depth of customization for Brawl.

Mario as Doc or Paper Mario (that would be awesome, and funny).

Peach as Paper Peach.

Bowser as Paper Bowser (edit: imagine his Up+B like that. lol).

Samus w/ the Fusion Suit (the real Fusion Suit, not a blue-and-yellow Varia Suit).

Edit: Or as Dark Samus. That would be beyond awesome.

Pikachu as Pichu.

Fox as Wolf or Falco.

DK as K.Rool.

Ike as Roy, or someone from Dawn of Radiance and Radiant Dawn.

Lucas as Ness

Sonic as Shadow or Silver.

It's not like they have to do it for every character (Snake, for example, has nobody else to be); just as many as they can.
