Spirit Crossing - Camera Obscura Needed

What is Fatal Frame?

Fatal Frame (Known as Project Zero in other regions) is a series of Japanese survival horror games originally developed by Tecmo Koei, currently crowned with Nintendo as of the Project Zero II remake on the Wii. The series would normally revolve around a series of haunted shrines plague with vengeful spirits that cause mayhem within them in a 1980's Japan. Usually you play the role of a female (who sometimes have a partner) to investigate these incidents as a rookie exorcists under the orders of a doctor. In each scenario, the characters involved in the present investigation use the Camera Obscura, objects created by Dr. Kunihiko Asou that can capture and pacify spirits

The series has received critical acclaim, being ranked alongside other iconic video game horror series including Resident Evil and Silent Hillseries, while individual games have been ranked among the best survival horror games in existence. Some critics even go as far as saying that the Fatal Frame games are among the most frightening horror games of all time while being compared to those two titles (Especially Silent Hill). While the sales of individual games have never been high, the series as a whole has sold over one million copies worldwide as of April 2014. Multiple Japanese media adaptations have been made, while a Hollywood movie is currently in production (which may or may not be in development hell now).
How would a character from the series work as a fighter? What interesting capabilities can be done with the Camera Obscura?

As previously stated, most of the combat in the Fatal Frame series revolve around the use of exorcising them with the Camera Obscura. Usually the way of defeating a spirit is to aim for their weak point with the camera and flash it to harm them, which results in blue willow wisps flying from them. Sometimes those wisps can be flashed at for more damage or a Fatal Frame can occur in which the entire foe is locked on with a red screen. This is the main key to fighting spirits in the game and it should be the main draw of a Fatal Frame character's moveset. Like the games themselves, they can easily run out of film momentarily and be forced to refill it after time while different lens can be used for a variety of forms to shot (distance, size, damage, stun time, etc).

Other iconic spirits from the games can join the fun in which they appear from their human aggressor to attack her enemies. These attacks would involve possession, weapon strikes, ectoplasmic ***** slaps, ramming, scaring the opponents stiff, or even attacking with the very wisps that they shed. Given the frightening atmosphere that these protagonists dealt with during their quests, they can be frightened enough to use force themselves like shoving or other violent methods a woman would use when in a tight situation. So think of this character as the very embodiment of what horror games are all about, especially from the best ones of all time.

Are there any notable characters from the series they can use? Which one would be picked in Sakurai's eyes?

Given the non-episodic nature of the series, they focus on a different part pf Japan in addition to different protagonists in every game since the first game. The first solo Tecmo developed title Fatal Frame featured Miku and Mafuyu Hinasaki, who would solve the mysteries of the haunted Himuro Mansion. The next Fatal Frame title, Crimson Butterfly (which would be known as Deep Crimson Butterfly on the Wii updated release), featured Mayu and Miyu Akamura investigating the Lost Village. Fatal Frame III on the other hand featured Rei Kurosawa, who has Miku from the first game as her partner being one of the few games that tie into more than one title. The fourth title Fatal Frame: Make of the Luna Eclipse featured Ruka Minazuki exploring the mysterious fictional island of Rougetsu. And most recently, Maiden of the Black Water would feature Yuri Kozukata, Ren Hojo, and Miu Hanasaki (Who is the daughter of the reoccurring character Miku) investigating the haunted suicides around Hikami Mountain.

So if there's two likely protagonists to be chosen for the future, it would be between Miku or Yuri. Mika is one of the few reoccurring characters in the franchise who was playable since the first title and her own daughter is one of the tertiary protagonist of the latest title Maiden of the Black Water. Yuri is the main star of the game Maiden of the Black Water and she was never featured as a trophy in Super Smahs Bros Wii U (Or any Maiden of the Black Water content for that matter), giving her the edge for the next title. Sure there's the possibility of Sakurai picking the protagonist of Fatal Frame 6, but such a game haven;t been announced yet and it depends if Tecmo Koei would push him to choose that character. Another possible option is to have alts based on the other Fatal Frame protagonists with their own voices since it would be the best way to truly represent Fatal Frame.

Arguments Against A Fatal Frame Rep

The series is too mature and realistic to have a rep

This would be a valid argument if the likes of Snake or Bayonetta never been added in the Super Smash Bros franchise. The subject matter that is usually dealt wth in Metal Gear Solid revolves around things like politics, war, super weapons, and cloning. Some of these are highly controversial subjects while that's not even going into the sexual nature of the series humor. Then there's Bayonetta, which can be best described as a game that would easily offend conservative Christians and feminists everywhere with its setting. Both characters were easily toned down to suit the whimsical setting of Smash, so the same thing can easily be done for a Fatal Frame protagonist (Just tone down the bloody or malformed appearances of some spirits and they are good).
Fatal Frame isn't that relevant to Nintendo's history, even when more popular titles like Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive exists

While it may be true that those two franchises are much more popular (as much as I like them), I whole heartedly disagree on them having little impact on NIntendo's history. The fact that Nintendo is able to co-own such an iconic J-Horror game along is already historical enough coming from a company that never explored the horror franchise on their own (Silicone Knights were the ones to developed Eternal Darkness for example). Fatal Frame unlike Eternal Darkness is still a growing franchise to this day and Nintendo have some faith in it based on their marketing digital USA release aside. And naturally, Fatal Frame would have the biggest edge for representation in Smash over any other Tecmo rep because of this partnership alone and how easy it would be to get the right for it. We were able to get trophies for the Deep Crimson Butterfly protagonist after all and it shouldn't be too hard for them to negotiate for a character in the future.

The games sell poor and are unpopular. Therefore, the series is deserving to be in Smash

Come on now, I can get the series not being a big seller but unpopular? If an unpopular series like Fatal Frame was able to make 5 games (one being remade) and one spinoff then clearly it is a beloved franchise that does have its fans. It is a niche game which in itself doesn't have to appeal to a wide audience. I can name several characters off of the roster that fall in that category easily, one of them being Captain Falcon since it's been years since we last had a new F-Zero title since GX on the Gmaecube. And as for it being a poor seller, can tell you that we have the likes of Bayonetta in the roster who's from a developer company that is known for such niche titles. Bayonetta 2 just got lucky compared to other games since it garnered better sales much faster in comparison to the first game and other Platinum titles. Corrin could be another example, but only time will tell if the game's international sales would surpass that of Awakening in the future.

Camera Obscura Ghostbusting Moveset

Entrance Animation: Yuri walks through a thicket of fog with her with her Camera Obscura in hand and her flashlight put away after inexplicitly searching through it. She would get into a more conformable pose and holds her special camera forward as if she sees a nearby spirit.

Idle Animation: She stands still while holding the Camera Obscura with a face of fear and bravery. She would sometimes look behind herself with the camera facing that direction briefly to see if something's behind her. After a while, she would usually check out the details of her camera quickly out of curiosity.

Walk: She walks forward while still holding the camera forward as if she's creeping through an extremely haunted area.

Run: She would eventually start running like she does in Maiden in the Black Water, but with both of her hands still holding the Camera Obscura the same way.

Sleeping Animation: She falls asleep with her head down while her legs are bent and spread. The Camera Oscura is briefly on the ground due to her hands behind held low.

Dizzy Animation: She will be shuddering violently while groaning and struggling to hold her camera. This may be a reference to being in a wet and cursed state in Maiden of the Black Water.

Dodge Animation: She jumps behind them as if something frightening was approaching her from behind.

Normals
Jab: She swings her left hand at the opponent then resorts to a kick with her right leg. Then she resorts to swinging her camera forward for a continuously series of flashes (her infinite combo). But like all combos of this nature, she can end the loop with a stronger flash that knocks the opponent away.
Forward Tilt
She shoves herself at the opponent with her shoulder and body.
Up Tilt
A ghastly hand pops from the ground before her (which startles her) and swings itself upwards.
Down Tilt:
She raises her hand forward and deals some purifying damage to the opponent (Reference to the Fatal Touch finisher)
She rams into the opponent in fright with her full body after sliding on water from her full wetness. It can cause racking damage due to the splashes that occur when she's sliding.
Neutral Air
Yuri takes shot with her camera diagonally.
Forward Air
She quickly swings a jar of medicine in self defense.
Back Air
A ghosts appears behind her to attack, then she defeats it with a camera flash. The "death" of the ghost's spectral body could easily knock foes away.
Up Air
She takes a massive shot with her camera above her head with heavy damage, which is good for scoring Star KO's.
Down Air
Two spirits would briefly "attack" Yuri by grabbing grabbing her, causing her to kick her legs rapidly while slowly descending slightly. Then they would disappear and allow her to fall normally.

Forward Smash:
She would be attacked by a random spirit that grabbed her and her struggle with it is her charging animations. Then she shoves the spirit at her foes with a mighty push, causing it to slowly die.

Up Smash:
Yuri rapidly flashers her camera above her head akin to Samus's Up Smash with the last flash knocking the opponent into the air
Down Smash:
She stands perfectly still in fear as two massive ghastly hands appear from both sides of her feet. Then she jump to trigger their action to slam themselves onto the ground.

Grab:
Yuri gasps as two otherworldly hands appear before her to grab the opponent like vengeful spirits.
Pummel:
These hands would forcefully shake the opponent while Yuri looks horrified.
Forward Throw
A disembodied ghost head appears in front of the opponent and screams to scare both them and Yuri, which results in knockback for the trapped opponent.
Back Throw:
The hands fling the opennent around the frightened Yuri and toss them aside like trash.
Up Throw:
The opponent is tossed into the air by these hands and Yuri quickly takes a shot to knock the opponent even further into the air.
Down Throw
The victim is dragged into the a spectral portal bellow them and tortured briefly (as signified by the rising damage) before being lightly tossed out of the ground.

Neutral Special: Camera Obscura
With this special, Yuri (Or any other chosen character) will use the true power of the Camera Obscura to capture her foes. But here's the catch: You would have to choose your lens/film combination from the start of the special by holding the B Button and going from there. Each one has their own damage input and function to turn the tides on the battle. But like Robin's tomes, there is a limited amount of film for each combo and running out of film can force you to chose enough combination or be left with default shots like the other camera related neutral attacks with no special properties. Everything will be fully reset once she gets KO'd and it will be right back at the last lens/film combination you used.

    • Blast & Type 61: Increases the damage and launching power of the Camera Obscura attacks but decreases its range and lengthens the lag animations. The film used is the most basic type and has no special properties.
    • Boost & Type 07: Increases the speed on power of the attacks while decreasing longing and priority stats. The film used has prolonged hitstun, but the shots are much weaker than default ones.
    • Pierce & Type 14: Does more damage to those with shields utilized. The film used applies a fire effect to each shot easily and it's superior to the Type 07.
    • Extend & Type 90: Increases the duration and range of the attacks that allows for attack to be connected easier but greatly decreased the knockback. The film used has a freezing effect and cause more damage to those with a high damage percentage.
    • Zero & Type Zero: Increases both speed, damage, and launch attacks but does half damage to Yuuri. The film used is strong, but has longer lag to the ending frames of the attack.

Side Special: Spectral Summon
Yuri aims her camera forward as him she's taking a shot, but then jumps back once a ghastly moan can be heard. This is where several iconic ghosts from the series would pay a visit to the battlefield and do their worst to make their lives a living hell. Some can appear briefly while others last long and they can be damaged slightly to make the experience more shorter. So think of this as Duck Hunt's Wild Gunmen, but slightly extreme.

  • Fallen Woman: This frightening woman will drop out of the sky and land onto opponents with her sheer force and weight. Her broken legs will prevent her from really moving around as she disappears instantly.
  • Broken Neck Woman: This infamous spirit would appear and warp around the room slowly. When she's near a certain victim, she would reach out her arms and charge at them to attack.
  • Kusabi: This imposing male spirit would appear as a cloud of fog that travels slowly. Anyone unlucky enough to touch it will be attacked by him.
  • Ayako: This young girl would run around the stage like most ghost children and attack foes by jumping at them. She's by far the weakest of the spirit summons.
  • Long Arms: This mutated long limbed freak would normally be in a slouched position before his master and only attack when foes get any closer to her or attempt attacking him.
  • Shiragiku: This white haired young girl will hold her hitogatami to attempt reading her foes minds. This would result in her sicing some living dolls to attack them if she think they're sinners.

Up Special: Rising Spirit
A ghastly shrine maiden would appear behind Yuri with an otherworldly moan and start dragging her into the air. Yuri would be frightened and struggling as the spirit takes her straight into the air (you can control which direction for her to move horizontally during this moment). She would finally disappear once she's tried of carrying her to leave Yuri into a helpless state. If the spirit is attacked during this state by other fighters, she flies away instantly and leaves Yuri falling. Like Snake's Up Special, she can do it again after such an attack happens.

Down Special: Mitori
Yuuri performs a pose. If an attack connects during the pose, Yuuri sees the opponents demise and deals damage through indirect spiritual energy launching them. The attack does more damage to the opponent if it connects after that opponent was KO'd. It has a 14 second window of time to connect before the effect wears off. Connecting after a KO also has more launching ability.

Final Smash: Fatal Frame

Yuri would notice a thick fog rolling in with plenty of otherworldly moans heard in the distance. She looks noticeably afraid while shivering violently with the laughter of the spirits building up even louder. Then the girl would run off the screen with her camera regardless of the stage's elevation as loads of spirits appear on the stage. These spirits (which consist of shrine maidens and berserkers) would slowly move around and only attack with manhandling or slashing at opponents. Then a camera symbol would appear (just like the one in the Fatal Frame games) as a sign that Yuri is ready to take some fatal frames.

In this state, she can move this cursor around freely and press the B Button to take a shot like traditional gameplay. It would cause some damage to opponents that are hit and causes spirits to shed Will-O-Wisps from their bodies. Doing this would make them more dangerous to the opponents that are being chased by them and doing so enough time would result in them spawning more to harm foes. There are times when they would finally die after enough shots and another spirit would appear in their place. As usual, more knockback (which is likely for a KO) will happen to your foes if you take enough shots of them in this form.

When this move is over in 10 shots, the foe subsides and the sprits would disappear from sight immediately. Then Yuri appears back into the scene from a similar fog to her entrance animation and sighs before taking her Camera Obscura out again.

Taunt 1: Yuri looks at an old photo from her pocket and sighs before putting it away.
Taunt 2: She takes out her scrapbook to look through it only to be spooked by a white hand that appears out of it. She immediately slams it closed and put it away while catching her breath.
Taunt 3: She takes a few shots quickly around herself as if she's taking some photos for herself.

Victory Animation 1: Yuri would look into a photo (one that can be implied to be one of Hisoka), then glance up with a smile as if she accomplished something for her.
Victory Animation 2: Yuri would notice a shine maiden trying to attack her and takes a shot of it to make her scream in pain. "That was close," she says before continuing her shots at the spirit above her.
Victory Animation 3: Yuri jumps in victory only to drop her Camera Obscura and tries to get it. Then ghastly hands try stopping her from getting it back be grabbing at her hands. "Hey, that's not fair!" she says while continuing to fight back to reach her sacred camera.

Still support. And I'm in agreement that Miku and Yuri are the best choices of the entire cast. Otehr characters can easily be also a la Alph, I can see Tecmo going the extra mile if they are ever approached for Fatal Frame content.

Speaking of which, I still hope we do get a new game for the Switch. Even if the reception and sales for Maiden of the Black Eater was far from warm (plus the whole censorship controversy that will never die).

Yeah. It's probably going to be a while before we know what will become of the series' future. A new game would work well for the Switch, even though the secondary screen for the Camera Obscura would be an issue. Unless they have it like this, the Joycons can be used to control the movement and camera angles. Though I might revise this after I get a Switch.

Agreed. Miku is a reoccurring face to the franchise while Yuri is from the most recent game in the series. The others are definitely alt material so fans of the older games won't be left out. They all should be around the same age and shape, though the FF 1 and 2 cast are much younger.

I'm kind of iffy on getting a Fatal Frame character but I think a stage inspired by this series, let alone any horror series, is ripe for potential within Smash. It's an area that has yet to be explored in any real fashion. And that makes sense, given Nintendo's general lack of presence within horror games, but I mean the closest we've come so far is the Luigi's Mansion stage, lol.

I definitely agree with this. If a character can't happen, a stage would definitely be the best way to represent the series.

There are many potential locations to be used in the series. The first game has Himuro Mansion which can have potential guess like the Long Armed Man and such, FF 2 has Minikami Village (though it could focus on one of the main buildings), 3 has Kuze Mansion, 4 with Rougetsu Island (Possibly near the red gate in the water), and 5 with Hikami Mountain with the trademark Suicide Forest.

The layouts would be different, but setting be just as ghastly as the series itself. Some violent and non-violent guests would appear once stage, leaving out the gruesome looking ones like Needle Woman. A stage definitely has potential if they don't bring back the Luigi's Mansion (but that place isn't spoopy enough).

Support. I agree with N3ON though, while I'd be happy to get a character, I think a stage and some music is more likely.
Pretty much. Any single acknowledgement to the series than one trophy would be good enough. There are many potential locations and atmospheric songs to use. This one being my personal favorite.

Definitely added you to the list.

I still support Fatal Frame for Smash! Let's have it happen, Sakurai!
Added. Funny how ironic it is for someone to suooort a character from a series he's afraid of.

Jokes aside, the best thing we can do is hope that Tecmo still have some ideas in store for the Switch. After playing enough Zelda, there are some ideas they can do with the controller for Fatal Frame. I would even say that the controls would be nearly identical with the addition of Joy-Cons.

What the hell just happened?

A ghost suddenly took over your body just to triple post like that?
Yes, her name is the Triple Posting Woman, a spirit of a woman that was known for her similar mistakes and died of starvation from too much Internet and less food.

Luckily, I've exorcised her away after she could have forced me to do more. But the damage is done.

Guess what, Tecmo Koei confirmed that they have more Nintendo Switch games. You know what that means?

More Fatal Frame. Hopefully it's a bit less messy and more in line with the scarier entries like Crimson Butterfly and Tormented. Not that Maiden and the Black Water was bad, but we need less ghosts that come off as "Not enough scary, too sexy".

Support. This would be a great horror series character.

Still hate the EU name. I don't see how it is in any way appealing or relevent but aadly they will never bother changing it cos it has some brand power. But I think if they were to market it as Fatal Frame it would sell better here and brand would grow much quicker tho I may be wrong.

Even a stage itself. A great stage that would be popular would do very well for the series. I'm sure they could include some ghosts or something since Bayonetta has her infernal demons.

Maaan. Completely forgot about this series. I thought before (and still think) that someone from Fatal Frame would be a good pick. Could even see what they can bring! Count me in.

Also, they were made by KOEI? Wow the more you know. XD
Yes. The franchise always owned by Tecmo since the old days. It wasn't until Fatal Frame IV when Nintendo co-acquired the rights tonthe series.

In a way, that makes it a second party despite still needing the involvement of a third party developer, if that makes any sense to you.

Added. Any one of the girls that you prefer as the main outfit?

The original series was known as simply Zero in Japan. Which meant a spirit gate of some sort. So I wouldn't say the European name is far from faithful to the original, Fatal Frame dies come off a far superior name in the US. Like Biohazard to Resident Evil or Bare Knuckle to Streets of Rage. It's mostly the regional localizer's decision in the end.

I definitely see the stage being similar to Bayonetta's. Some notable spooky spirits here and there (Broken Neck Woman, Long Armed Man, etc) appearing the same way they do in the games. As long as there are no BS stage hazards, a big reason why I adore her stage.

Well since Nintendo co-aquired the series (wow they even have more relationships with Koei outside of FE Warriors and Samurai Warriors), they'd likely choose between the ones on the Nintendo consoles...

That being said, between Miku and Yuri, I'll choose Yuri since she's cuter (she looks like Princess Garner from FF9!).

That would include Yuri, Ruka, Mio and Mayu (because of the Crimson Butterfly remake), and Miku (because of her roles in all games). And you're right that Nintendo would most likely choose that ones that had a Nintendo presence.

Yuri would have to be my pick as well. I quite like her character and hope we see more of her. Though chances are that the next game would focus on another character and Miku's daughter would probably return.

if this isn't proof that a Fatal Frame 6 is imminent, then I don't know what will.

https://mynintendonews.com/2017/05/03/koei-tecmo-promises-to-heavily-support-nintendo-switch/

I know for sure that the motion controls will be far different because of how the Switch works.
So they would keep them for aiming camera or just go back to traditional controls like the older titles. The latter being a big IF since we all know Nintendo loves to craft interesting controls for their exclusives.

Not much to say about the story since each title is bound to follow a new setting and cast (minus the occasional Miku role) every single time. They should go for a haunted ship or shipyard to follow up on the wetness mechanic, though that would be a Resident Evil Revelations ripoff.

Similar setting sure, but RE is bio-weapons. FF is spooky ghosts. Totally different scenarios. :p

Oh right. Because we will probably never use guns in a Fatal Frame game because they won't hurt a spectral being.

I still wouldn't mind the ship/shipyard setting. It would be unique than the usual village and forest.

I'd be all for it as well, especially if they include a shipwreck area as well. Perhaps the very ship you're on could end up shipwrecked leaving you on an island full of more haunted locales.

That would be an interesting twist. I can see it happening like during one of the early acts of the game, leaving you stranded on an island and using an escape boat for traveling to other smaller locations.

I mean with no helicopters and one little wooden boat, that would be frightening enough of an experience. The said spirits can be of victims that were drowned, marooned, pirates, or tourists.

Though I would be fine with whichever idea they have planned for this next game.

Fatal Frame is one of those IPs that's owner gets confusing (I think Nintendo own some of the franchise, correct me if I'm wrong). Regardless I'd love to see a Fatal Frame rep. It has been going on for years, and is still active. Plus there is no survival horror character in the roster. Except Luigi of course :p

From what I have seen Fatal Frame is co-owned by Nintendo and Koei-Tecmo. I was actually really surprised by this I know Nintendo helped get Maiden of Blackwater out but I thought the deal was more similar to Bayonetta 2 (not 100% sure but I do not think Nintendo has any sort of ownership over the franchise outside maybe that one game). If I had to guess Koei-Tecmo probably has a larger stake in the franchise but given the seemingly good relation between the two right now this is certainly possible, although Ryu Hayabusa or maybe even Kasumi/Ayane might be more likely reps from Koei-Tecmo.

I see Fatal Frame's characters kind of being a different situation than other Koei-Tecmo characters. Ryu would be considered a third-party character, which I assume takes a lot more effort to legally add to the game. Fatal Frame on the other hand is considered second party at least. So I could see that creating a priority if we deal with a Koei-Tecmo rep,

It's true, Nintendo and Temco Koei co-owns the rights of the franchise as of now. Which is why you'll never see a game on a PlayStation console like the old days. And it's true that a FF rep does have to compete with with more popular characters like a DOA fighter or Hayabusa himself. It mostly depends on which character Temco would personally choose out of the three (four since Kasumi and Ayane butt heads at times).

On another topic, seeing all the mature third parties considered for the Switch so far only make me want Fatal Frame 6 to come sooner. When you have the likes of DOOM and Wolfenstein on the same platform, people would definitely want to see a certain J-horror make a splash on the new console. There's many things you can do with the Joy-Cons to make it work like a camera. The potential is there.

I thought I posted this...Anyway, I think if I were to pick a Fatal Frame protagonist as a playable character in Smash, for me it makes sense to have Miu Hinasaki.
A) She has appeared in the most recent Fatal Frame
B) There have been many Hinasaki characters in past Fatal Frames
C) One of these includes the protagonist from the original Fatal Frame. In other words a character from the most recent game, that links to the original.

By these three points, I kinda see her more valid then say other protagonists in Fatal Frame games

This I can honestly agree with.

Especially if the next game were to follow her as the main character after reuniting wth her long lost mother. Having a new game that explores the whereabouts of her father would be a nice way to continue the plot

And it's definitely true that the Hinasaki family are like the most important characters in the whole franchise compared to others.

They're like the Belmonts...or the Redfields.
Yes.

They are close enough to being the Belmonts and Redfields of the series. It's like the whole family was destined to be caught up in paranormal **** since day one.

Anyways, still hoping we can get some news on a Switch Fatal Frame title. Tecmo's been rather silent about the Switch for a long time. I wonder why.

Never knew this is a thing:

https://nintendosoup.com/nights-azure-2-switch-exclusive-fatal-frame-costume-dlc/

I've heard people say Fatal Frame: Maiden of the Black Water might be the last due to its sales. I kind of disagree, I think Wii U titles need to be somewhat exceptions when it comes to sales. Lets be honest very few games did well on the Wii U.
Late reply, but I agree. With the Switch selling better now, I think Tecmo should take Fatal Frame for another go.

If Xenoblade went from niche to a 1k seller with the latest game, I don't see Fatal Frame VI doing as bad.

And suddenly, I want Nights of Azure 2 now. That DLC sold me on the game.

If future trailers for Smash Switch are similar to the announcement trailer. I could see at the end of Miu's trailer, her holding up her camera with the lens reflecting the smash logo. Then there is a click from the camera, and it darkens with creepy sounds to finish the trailer off.

That sounds like an excellent idea for a reveal. I love it already.

Once can hope Sakurai would add more Fatal Frame content to the game by now. Most notably stuff from Maiden of the Black Water.

Only time will tell if there will be a playable character, but it's best to wait and see.

Still support Fatal Frame in Smash! You know what? I'd like that to be the trend for all reveal trailers for this Smash.

The flaming Smash symbol reflects off of the newcomer's eyes and all.
This.

Imagine Miu/Miku/Yuri in a mansion being chased by and fighting ghosts. Then the last thing she will see while in fear is the flaming Smash logo.

It's too perfect of an opportunity to pass.

Daily reminder that the lead artist of Skullgirls openly supports a Fatal Frame character in Smash.

Yes, this is actual art that was drawn by her. Poor Lucina will be having nightmares for weeks.
Lol I was just about to bring that up and you beat me to it.

Still, if a professional artist for a fighting game sees potential in a Fatal Frame fighter, why can't others? This is good example of why Fatal Frame fits Smash when done tight.

After getting pestered by fans and being interviewed, Koinuma said that Fatal Frame is considered Tecmo's most valuable IP and stated that everyone should be very patient.

I don't know about you, but I feel this obviously confirms that a Fatal Frame Switch is on the works (though I doubt Sakurai would have the time to include a trophy from it).

https://mynintendonews.com/2018/03/...-franchise-is-one-of-their-most-valuable-ips/

I just want everyone's thoughts on this.
