Smash Journeyman
This thread is just one of those "Oohh, somebody else should make THIS really cool program, because I lack the skills!" threads that will probably die soon, just warning you.
I'm sure all of us with desktops wired in one some completely different floor from your wii can say that they don't like the awkward trips back and forth to download the latest Geno stage or the latest version of Zero when you realize that you forgot to take your SD card out of your wii. Nor do they like sifting through dead threads to find the one they want to post in. Or just to find a somewhat interesting PSA character. Not to mention my computer decided to only read my SD card when it feels like it.
Now, we need something. Something that is both convenient and organized and eliminates the need to run back and forth. We need a homebrew app. By that, I mean something like the homebrew browser. That program that allows you to browse through homebrew by category and then downloads what you want straight into the right file locations. We need that, but for smash hacks.
Think about it. It would be the Smash browser or something like that. Simply upload your latest hacks; whether it be a stage hack, a texture hack, a PSA hack, a code, or a model hack; when you go to post it on Smashboards or KC:MM. Then it gets added to the database. You could add descriptions of the hack or additional codes/models that would be recquired to run it and where to find them.
On your wii, the program would connect to the internet to bring you an organized database of all the latest new Smash mods. Organized by PSA hack, Model hack, Custom Stage, Stage texture, Character texture, music, and other codes. Inside those categories they might be organized by character base, stage base, and so on. Then they could show up in alphabetical order or by rating (like the homebrew browser) and you could read descriptions of and download the latest versions, and they would be placed right in the correct files of the SD card and named correctly. How cool would that be?
Now, please DO NOT flame me for just suggesting a program that would take a whole bunch of work, more than alot of other people are willing to put in. I just thought that I might put that out there. It's sort of like self-updating PSA characters, almost. (Wait, that's a good idea.)
What do you think? Would it be possible? Would somebody even be willing to take on such a daunting task?
