Think about it. Wario is a fat guy like santa. When in his classic outfit he was elf shoes. The stages they were on were Yoshi's island in the winter and the summit.

Sonic was born on Christmas Island and Angel island zone... Angels are famous christmas icons.

It can't get more saturated than that. Wario's update wasn't even on christmas :x
