as we all know, you would be better off trying to fly with a bag of bricks on your back than using link's up b to recover. if there are any ways to extend it, even just by a little bit, post it here. is there a way to effectively use bombs to recover? is there a move that lets you hover a little bit like puff's pound?

nope. Nothing. besides bombs which only work if you've been blasted high enough

By doing the upB at the max height of your 2nd jump right before you start to descend. That's pretty obvious but the same principle goes for kirby/jiggly even more.

link's recovery is probably the worst recovery in the entire franchise, and that's the only way i've seen somebody extend it.

And as you see in the video bomb jump always turns you around the opposite way, so you have to actually land on the stage which furthers the height you need to recover with it.

the boomerang toss will propel you slightly more forward.

No it doesn't, It just locks your current speed which even at max isn't going to give you any more speed than what holding the stick left/right would do.
