Was Pichu even necessary?

Okay... So I went through this thread to find a post by ICG about something stupid on how "Pichu is ****". I wanted to criticize but now I'm am throughly disappointed...
Pichu was a space filler. Nothing more.
Well Pichu may also be considered dumpster juice too. But you can be the judge of that.

Pichu is necessary. Without Pichu, we wouldn't have ICG as who he is now
IMO, I think Pichu>Kirby. But I don't play those characters really so, meh.

As a kirby player, this comment makes me want to steal candy from babies.
Kirby has a nice grab, but combos? He has a tech chase opportunity on the down throw...but that's it.

OK, I have friends who play Kirby, and I have dabbled in Pichu, and from my experience, Pichu is better. Slightly, though.
Pichu, while lame, has a chaingrab (as well as guaranteed grab>usmash killers), nice uair damage builders, very strong smashes, as well as one the best nairs in the game for killing.
Kirby is barely heavier than Pichu, and has no useful throws. All of them can be EASILY escaped and punished save uthrow and dthrow, both of which are too slow to be followed up on well. His only combos are very short, involving a few utilts to an aerial. All his smashes are of mediocre power and speed; his only good kill moves are bair, uair, and dair. Uair and dair are laggy and predictable though, so bair is the only safe one.
At least Pichu can pull off some cool stuff as he loses a match, Kirby can only camp bairs.

LOL LOL LOL LOL LOL I was riding my bike today and the computer had viruses due to my step dad looking at porn. Pichu was a joke and I will never say i'm a great pichu player gave the most helpful by far.
I have always thought all of this stuff for young link he feels like a huge waste to me. But when I first unlocked pichu in MELEE I when wwwwwwwwwwwwwooooooooooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhh that's sssssssoooooooo amazingly randomly cool, I did the same for puff/m2/gannon/ice climbers I still enjoy ssbm like how I first did I'm always amazed by the raw awesomeness from the cast. Do any of you remember that? Just me I look at everything with old/new eyes.
aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllsoooooo pichu>kirby wanta know why? because all kirby has on pichu is tilts, duck, and range. but seeing how kirby's moves suck there range is somewhat wasted like roy. straight up not a single move kirby has is as good as pichu's nair.
You may say Bair but I disargee if you start bairing they start projectiling you and it's not like you puff and are fast. kirby can only camp really or his foe has to be dumb and make many mistakes. Why his SD tactics should be LOLed at, because if you know anything about kirby I hope you don't fall for those tricks.
no pichu's nair is like falcon's movement with his knee, kirby with his range and slugishness is like bowser and his fair. they DD around to nair/fair and even if kirby's has more range, it's much easier to predict/see/punish and doesn't combo.
I have to get off. sorry, I would lllllllllllloooooooooooooooooooooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeee to see someone legitly down down why kirby is better. the bair wall stuff works for puuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

roy isnt THAT bad.
roy has a somewhat reliable tech chase game thanks to his grab(better range than yoshis), f/dthrow, and good dd and wd. his dtilt used with ffed airials make a decent way to rack up %. only bad things are that these tactics suck vs floaties.. and he cant kill for ****.

I agree with these statements, I got rid of everything else because it's the usual nonsense I've come to expect from you. Kirby is EASILY the worst character in the game, like hands down. At least Pichu is kinda fast.

Eh, I kinda like Pichu better than Pikachu. He's just a more fun character to play with. For the record, he does NOT hurt himself "ALL THE TIME." Believe it or not, some of his moves don't damage him at all (nair, bair, uair, dash attack).

And Pichu wasn't added as a joke character, that isn't like Sakurai at all. He was probably added for the same reason every other clone was added, an excuse to have extra characters with little to no effort.

Kirby is nothing like Puff.
In the matchup, Pichu > Kirby.
No one should ever get Kirbycided unless it's being used as an edgeguard (lol). Every character can get around the inhale, and every character can break out of the bthrow quickly enough up to around 50%.
If by 'grab combos on every character', you mean 'can techchase some characters from dthrow', then yes?
Kirby's recovery is such junk that every character in the game can easily edgeguard him without risk.

Pichu can chainthrow space animals. Pichu has a non-linear recovery. Pichu has a nair. Pichu is fast. Pichu has 4 taunts.

<3 you BunBun People truely don't know anything about kirby or pichu so they just think oh kirby=puff and pichu just hurts himself. People really don't understand that pichu is pichu and kirby is kirby and they compare them to everyone else. But thank you being someone who knows BOTH kirby and pichu.
Saying Kirby will eventually become the next great Jiggs, is like saying Roy can become another Marth. It just doesn't work that way. If you actually played the character(s), you'd understand their limitations, see what their strengths and weaknesses are.

Pichu nair: Decent priority, speed and mobility.
Kirby nair: He spins around like a baby tossed in a washing machine staring at you through the window. No priority, mediocre speed, absolutely no mobility.
The only use I can figure for Kirby's nair is a quick tap to get the grab or a combo extender.
With Pichu it's good for:

Backpack is like he's packed up, striking out on an amazing adventure and growing up tear-inducingly fast.
That red one is like the Pichu that has had a rough life but still manages to smile at everything and only puts up a touch front.
Goggles Pichu is just the one you can trust with your spare key.
Regular Pichu is the hope for the future.
