Btw, the Japanese says "Only Wario" or "Wario alone" or "Just Wario," etc.

The man (translation machine) has spoken. **** it, where's the Dr.Mario/Falco/Santa DeDeDe love, Sakurai? Change your mind, **** it!

Or allow downloadable alt costumes. Which you won't.

Indeed. For those unfamiliar with Japanese, here is the original sentence:

"が、ワリオだけは特別でして……。"

The word "dake" (だけ) means "only" or "just," implying that Wario (ワリオ) is the sole character who has such a noticeably different alternate costume. The Panda doesn't lie. So how about we all just let this topic go?

Talk about a let down, though, our only hope is that Sakurai is toying with us as he tends to do. I wouldn't suggest getting hopes up, though. Maybe next time, 'eh Nintendo?

I agree that this strikes me as odd. I mean, they are doing SO MUCH stuff for this game. I'm sure that alternate costumes ranks higher on many peoples "DO WANT" list than, say, Co-op for everything under the sun.

I swear, people read the updates with one idea in mind and when it doesn't match what it written, they try find something slightly ambiguous and and mark it as one of Sakurai's cryptic message.
The real concern shouldn't be about Wario's costumes, but about the flab that's poking out from his sides.

I agree that this strikes me as odd. I mean, they are doing SO MUCH stuff for this game. I'm sure that alternate costumes ranks higher on many peoples "DO WANT" list than, say, Co-op for everything under the sun.

NO, no, no and no. Co-op >>>>>>>>>>>>>>> a stupid character with a few more colour swaps. Really, that didn't make a lot of sense. I bet there's more people who wouldn't give the smallest crap about an alternate costume, but would really really care about having co-op. (Co-op = PLUS, alternate costume = not really)

Please. I can understand your frustration, and I'm sorry about it, really. But there's some stuff you should think before posting them. I, for one, and I don't think I'd be alone, would be fairly dissapointed if, say, Mario had a Dr. Mario costume which makes him exactly the same Mario but with a freaking doctor costume instead of Co-op.

It's more that when an update doesn't make logical sense (why only Wario?) or there is room for interpretation (see the Ness/Lucas debacle) it makes sense to check the original Japanese site and the other translations, for further clarification.

Ness, Mega Man, and Alternate costumes are all deconfirmed, yet there are still people that argue that they will be in. There's even people who say clones will be in! My hope for some people on these boards drops everyday.

Good Goddess, what is with smash fans?!?!?

First it's the Ness thing. . . he is clearly out but nooo, "I want to see the Japanese dojo update cause the guy translating it for us probly don't know Sh)t and did it wrong!!!". Than theres Mega Man's creator saying MM aint in brawl and people call him a lier or claim he wouldn't know anyway. Now people out right call Sakurai a lier because of this update after finding out what was really said in Japanese. (YES, I have seen people say he is lieing and/ or "mindgaming")

Really, some of you all see only what you want. Sakurai aint "Mind gameing" anyone, you all just don't like what you hear/ read and try to make your reality real. . .

The Panda has spoken. It's only slightly dissapointing to me, as I felt it was a crime not to have overalls Wario in the game. Really, there isn't anybody else (besides maybe Zora Armor Link) that I was hoping for an alternate costume for.

Hey, we have Fire Mario this time around, that's good enough for me on his front. We also have had since Melee his Sledgehammer Mario outift, the one that Youko and Samurai Panda affectionately refer to as "poop" Mario.

EDIT: This isn' t the place to argue Inafune semantics, but he didn't directly say he wasn't in. But let it be known that I understand Mega Man's chances of being in Brawl are infinitesimal now. But hey, Geno's the next most likely, and I love that dude to death.

Rather than accept what the DOJO says, they decide they do not like it, so they turn to other translations in hopes of discovering a discrepancy. There is also the classic "this makes no sense" argument, yet another plea for it to not be true.

Seriously, until Sakurai comes around and says "just kidding", GET OVER IT! No one besides Wario will have alternate costumes!

Agreed. We actually have people saying Wario will have 2 seperate roster spots, even though Sakurai says that you change it like you normally would with X and Y.

Haha. No, Japanese is the only definitive language with credibility, as far as updates go. And even it says theres only one alt costume in the entire game (bright move, Sakurai. Bright like the sun.)

Japanese is certainly a step above English, but English marks the largest market, so it receives special attention. America got the Wii before Japan did. They are not going to take the English translation lightly.

But it would have been more rude had Sakurai kept this little fact a secret. Imagine us all being excited for the confirmation of alternate costumes only to discover the long, hard way that only Wario has one.

Well, Wario's a special case. He spent half of his... "life" in Overalls, and half of the other in the Warioware outfit. So if anyone needed to have an alt, it'd be him.

Because Wario is really the only one who has two distinct costumes? I mean Doc is only one game; Zora Armor Link isn't really identifiable with Link the character, only people who played TP; most of Samus' outfits are essentially recolors anyway (yes I realize the Fusion Suit looks way different than the Power Suit).

I can't back this up with a link, but I believe Sakurai used to DISLIKE Wario when he was only an "evil Mario" sort of guy. Sakurai seems more enamored with his quirky Wario Ware form, so far as seperating his icon from the Mario universe. So really, what is the point of giving him and only him an alt costume back from the Mario universe?

OOT-Clothed Link brought in tons of Zelda fans, probably more than any other Zelda game. Yet he probably wont' get honored with those clothes as an alt, instead just wearing his newest TP duds.

Theres a trophy of Fusion Samus. A trophy! That means they went out of their way to model that costume. Yet theres (assuming from this condemnatory language and color change) no costume of her, just a fairly accurate color swap.

It makes no sense to just give Wario special treatment.
