It's clear that a lot of us are going to use the GC controller for Brawl. As a matter of fact, (it's a little early to say this but I'm gonna go ahead and say it anyway) I believe 95% of us will use the GC controller.

Well, there's been a lot of speculation going around that Nintendo's going to reproduce wavebirds for the release of Brawl. Sadly, today that hope has been shot down:

What really confuses me is the fact that they're still shipping the corded controllers but not the wavebirds? WTF?

I'm sure many of us already have wavebirds, but if yours are like mine then they've been through so many games of Melee that they're getting worn down! So hurry up! If you're looking to get another wavebird before Brawl hits, go now! Go to GS and pray you find a used one! (i found one wavebird the other day after some store hunting and snatched it up!)

Meh, easy come easy go. I don't mind playing with the regular controllers.

Bah I was kinda excited to play with a wireless game cube controller.

Oh well, hopefuly some 3rd party company will make one (doubt it though)

Either my wavebirds are made of adamantium or I'm just not playing hard enough, because I've had mine for years and they're doin' alright.

Though, if all else fails, there are always the corded ones, like brink said.

Or, if you want to be REALLY loony, there are always the other 3 controller options (I know side wiimote looks awful, but the other two seem pretty reasonable).

In other news, I actually had no idea wavebirds (or GCN controllers in general) were so hard to come by now. Shows how much I'm paying attention.

well in melee, when i started learning advanced techniques and high level metagame, the kids that trained me told me not to use a wavebird because there was slight command lag that casual gamers don't notice, plus, mine and all my friends' wavebirds control sticks became defective. They still work, but you can't move as fast as you are supposed to be able to and they're less sensative to fast movements like dash dancing or shooting missiles, etc.

I don't think wavebirds are a good choice for brawl

Meh, I have a Wavebird, but I never used it for Melee, so it doesn't really affect me anyway. I prefer wired controllers anyhow when smashing. I have the habit of sitting to far away from the screen when I do... >_>;

I discovered this problem a few months after Brawl was announced. I decided to buy some wavebirds, but unfortunately they didn't sell them anywhere on the internet except eBay (even the official Nintendo site stopped selling them). It was tough finding a store that sold them so I just bought them for slightly more on eBay.

confirmed. Sending supplies.
At least wired controllers have no lag. Wavebirds have about half a frame TOPS of lag, which isn't much, unless you're playing on an HDTV. Then it'll just add to the lag. If you're not, then by all means, go hunt down a Wavebird.

I'll probably end up using Wiimote + Numchuck this time around, I don't plan to go to tournaments, the most competitive I'll get is Nintendo Wi-fi's With Anyone... :)

It's a new game, and I want to feel as if I've never played a Super Smash game in my life, what better way to do that than with a different controller?

thank god my wavebird still lives. i do need to buy a few corded controllers tho. my nephews have beaten and chewed on them so much that they hardly even work now. the only one that hasn't been chewed up is my black controller but its C-stick is dead. tried fixing it a few times, but its hopeless, i guess i'll give that one to my daughter for her to chew up and think she's playing the game while i play (how i used to do with my nephews in melee till the grew up).

Edit: fixed a typo

I was supprised too. The only upside to this is for tournaments, you can't use them because of conflict with other gamecubes (or wii's in this situation).

I'm just gonna use the Classic Controller. Hopefully the C-Stick lasts longer than the corded GCN and Wavebird controllers. Me and my brother went through 2 corded controllers and 2 Wavebirds over the 1st year and a half after Melee came out from playing so much with our friends so I'd rather pay $20 for an easier to get controller than 10 to 15 more dollars at least on a harder to find controller.

Extension cords don't cost much for GC controllers on eBay, but new Wavebirds do!

I picked up the last two Wavebirds I could find a couple of months ago when I realized that they weren't making them anymore. Whatever people say about the lag, when you have people over to play Smash, they are easily the best controller option. I would be more excited for the classic controller if it didn't have to be plugged into the Wiimote. I really wish Nintendo would release a wireless classic controller.

Woot my wavebird is perfectly fine. I never see it being better against my friends since im alwaysing using my wavebird while they use wired. Although I think a wavedash a bit better with it in melee.

I"m conflicted on this. On one hand, I loved my Wavebirds when they worked, and I'm kinda disappointed that they're not in stores.

On the other hand, I've been thinking of trying the Wiimote + Nunchuk option. It looks intriguing, and looks like it could potentially be better since your right thumb will not be responsible for 3 controls (A, B and X/Y). The W+N option gives some buttons to your left hand, which gives you more independence, but for the less-than-ambidextrous, could take some getting used to. Also, the motion-activated smashes could potentially be very helpful as well, since that's actually a fourth control that you had to manipulate with your right thumb in Melee.

I'm just confused why Nintendo is making corded controllers and not wavebirds...the wavebird's a fine controller. The only time I really had trouble with it was when I couldn't match the channel from my controller to the receiver...

Wavebirds ftw

Eh, I don't have any wavebirds anyway. That's weird that they aren't selling them anymore but continue to sell corded controllers... Oh well, I'm gonna use GC controllers anyway and probably try the Wiimote+Nunchuk.

**Sigh**

Here is the story of each of my GCN controllers:
#1) Got it with my Cube, wear and tear killed the C-Stick
#2) Got it with Melee...broke down after my third Vs match (something like that, but definitely the same day I got it...)
#3) Used Wavebird at half price! Lasted me 4 years, then it got too loose...
#4) Wavebird, lost the receiver...
#5) Wired Platinum that is currently in the P2 port
#6) Wavebird in the P1 Port

You can see what I have gone through! My Wavebird is getting loose too (from playing too much Melee and banging it after I lose...) so I like that Thrustmaster one from IGN. If I can't find it at my local EB, I'll order it from their store or something.
