Welcome to Volt Tackle Videos, the archive + critique thread for all videos related to Brawl Pikachu!

If you would like your Pikachu critiqued, please make that clear when you post your video(s). Offline matches are preferred. Replays of matches vs. CPUs will not be accepted for the archive, and most people won't review them either. Keep an open mind when reading people's opinions about your playstyle.... remember that it's constructive criticism. Nobody's trying to be mean!

If you're posting video(s) for the archive, please include some basic info in your post: names of the players, characters used, and whether it's tournament, wifi, etc. If you're posting a set, number the matches accordingly. This makes it much easier for the OP to be updated accurately.

Made a new thread so we can start fresh! And it was easier than combining the other two.

This is now the video AND critique thread, so if you want your Pika critiqued, please make that clear when you post your videos.

I went through YouTube and added a bunch of vids no one submitted, so there're a lot of new additions to the archive (especially in Anther's section...... :lick:

). Some of the new vids are actually pretty old, but they're all from within the last half a year. So don't get confused if you see "Old *NEW!*".... it won't happen after this update since from now on, new additions will probably be newer vids.

PLEASE LABEL YOUR VIDS CORRECTLY when you're submitting them. Some people posted vids where they weren't even using Pikachu..... -_-

Anyways, enjoy. Let's try to keep the replays coming in this time.

i think this post shld go in the critique section but w/e.

Just a few things i noticed: unless u realllly think ur gonna die u prbly shldnt SB. u almost ate peaches fair twice when ur DI was more than good enough to keep u from dying. but i get nervous offisides too sometimes, id rather live and eat a move than die and regret not SB'ing.

Second was when ur on the edge u came up aggressively alot, u prbly clda planked a lil more b4 coming up since snakeeee was basicaly hanging back and waiting to hit you. id try just getting away from whoevers guarding u by QA'ing over them, justt make sure not to be predictable on when ur gonna try to get onstage.

last, ur tjolts. u had some good ones that worked out nice, but theres alota lag time and u got hit a few times cuz of its lag, be careful about that.

btw, liked ur first kill. that FH Nair that let u get a ff fair in there was nice, good kill setup, 2 thumbs up. Youve def gotten much better since i last saw ur vids, Good job! <3

On ur second match for the snake MU, first off nice job grabbing him on that ledge, twas a smexy kill.

id say for that match just learn the cg a lil more, i notice that when u were doing the fthrow cg u messed up the dash buffer which made me sads

The snake didnt play to geh so its hard to say really, he wasnt very campy, maybe its just his style, didnt see to many nades.

I noticed u spot dodged out of shield sometimes, thats not the best decesion lol. u got hit by a jab once that if u wlda stayed in shield u cld have avoided, but instedd u spot dodged the last hit and got kicked. If you can bait the hit its good since u wont get pushed back, but moretimes then not ud be better off just shielding it.

twice in the match i saw u DI a top killing move wth dair...
ur last death u prob clda lived had u used uair to get that FF in. prob just a minor fluke, but just watch that cuz even though it was an Utilt that killed you ur DI was good, and had u used uair to get that fast fall in you prb wlda lived.

good besides that tho, ur def getting better!

About the dairs when I'm knocked straight up, I'm using c-stick down to do that because that automatically fastfalls. It's a really bad habit for pika dittos since it gets me thundered for no good reason occasionally, but in general it's easier lol

ohh right right. yeah when i DI i typicaly just mash both sticks in opposite directions so control stick down c stick up.

Yeah, he's the best Pika in Japan. I learned the Pika scarring from watching his vids.

I'm thinking about adding Roller's vids to the archive. I watched a few and he seems good enough to be there.

edit: Yone has his own youtube channel that he sometimes uploads his matches to and it looks like he knows English. We should get him to come to the boards. :D

EDIT: However, I wanna point out (again.............) that *NEW!* just means it was added to the archive recently, not that the vid is necessarily a new replay.

Oh boy, The drunk ones of me vs Ankoku and Judge and those guys? lol

Maybe put an asterisk next to them. hahhaha

I'll def be playing again with them soon, probably not while drinking; so I may have some more helpful footage then; but if you want feel free to put 'em up.

Also, Yonesuke looks legit. But seems like the polar opposite of Anther. He seems like he plays safer and more methodical. As opposed to Anther's crazy randomness. Just an observation..

I agree with this completely.
I love watching anther vids then I came in here and heard people were impressed with yone and excitedly went to watch his videos only to be disappointed because they lack the spectator value that anther's vids have.

on the plus side, he did go off the edge a few times to edge-guard a MK, that's not a low risk action.

incidentally that's also why I believe melee to be a better game in comparison to brawl, it has potential to be a spectator sport, you just have to have "basic" knowledge of the game, same as any sport broadcasted on TV, really.

Yone definitely has a different style, and I like watching Anther better, but I learn ~equally from them both.

I feel like Anther does a lot of things that only he can pull off..... because he reads his opponents extremely well and does **** specific to that particular match/player. Yone, on the other hand, seems to do stuff that just works in general, which (imo) is easier to learn from since it can be more readily applied to anyone's playstyle.

Dunno, I enjoy them both. =X Having vids from more talented Pika players is never ever a bad thing!

I'm trying to get the first match from this set since his rob gave trouble (idk why he played Zelda on the second match) with great projectile use and some aerial stuff that y'all can help me out with. The guy who takes a hacked wii and records the matches (Tebeo from the wario boards) seems to have disapeared off the face of the earth.

Auto, I don't really understand what you want from a critique of that match. You nearly 3 stocked him. Clearly from what we can tell from that example you don't have trouble in the MU. If you want critique, show a closer match, one like that makes it seem a little like you're just trying to be like "Oh hey, look how good I am!"

What a horrible Zelda. x.x

But uhhh my only real critique is that you both played REALLY slowly. Move faster. Also, don't tjolt so much from long range vs. Zelda..... gives her plenty of time to reflect, or she can Din's, which cancels the jolt and hits you.

I can't say much more though since his Zelda was pretty bad, no offense to him.

lol sorry if I looked like a **** or something. I just felt a bit pressured in the 1st stock up to a certain point since I didn't feel like I could get in there and just wanted to see what you guys had to say once I got the 1st stock off the Zelda, not the whole thing. Kaylo made a good point on the Jolts and me playing slowly since I was probably approaching his Zelda like his Rob or something.

Also, I'll try to get the 1st match of that set which was against Shin's rob which is actually good/decent unlike his Zelda. That match against his rob was actually close, I swear.

I'll try to get more stuff that's better posted soon.

Hmm, well. You seem pretty solid for wifi. I'd work on your power shielding more (but that could just be wifi) and make better use of your tilts. Nice job buffering the cg through the wifi lag.

thanks. yea using my tilts is def something i need to do more. i feel like ftilt cld be used for spaceing more but i dont use it enough. the CG was weird cuz the usmash didnt go through, i got shined out of it, i think that was just cuz of input delay tho.

edit: thanks prime. didnt know that wouldnt work. ill use nair out of dthrow in the future, seems like itd kill at 100 if it was fresh and near the edge.

Dthrow to usmash doesn't work on Wolf. Shine is just too fast. What you could do is shield the shine then punish or dthrow to nair instead.
