Man those Japanese matches were depressing to watch. I hope the Smash 4 meta does not evolve into that slow as molasses campfest.
Well remember that this is villager we're talking about. She's really good at camping.

Good this we've got Zee to speed things up

Also I found the pocket 1-item thing works SO well with Diddy, as he's BY far the one that relies the most on his item.

i thought those japanese matches were pretty funny. Against little Mac tho sometimes you can't help but stall. It'll be fun to see more tourney matches with villagers

Won our local 23 man tourney yesterday with Villager exclusively. Have one match recorded vs a Duck Hunt and then 3 matches from Grand finals recorded (vs Dr mario, mario, and palutena)
I wasn't 100 percent on my game, but my friend should have some videos on YouTube sometime soon. I'll post again when they're up. Hope Lotsa videos come about these first weeks :)

The Japanese metagame always evolves differently than the European and North American one. For example, Fox and Pit were high tier characters in Japan for Brawl and mid tier everywhere else.

Got 4th place today at Nebulous, admittedly not too happy with my performance this time, but some interesting stuff happened regardless such as the long fair combo I pulled off on Frozen on round 2 of our set.

^ i feel like if rosalina is doing the gravitational pull too much, you should just ride the lloid rocket as a mix up, since riding isnt counted as a projectile.

If I am recovering and my opponent is respecting villagers OP recovery and are just chilling in the middle of the stage I love to ride lloid into them and them dair them because when you hit someone while riding the rocket you dont go into free fall.

tip:

Try to start riding lloid when in the magnifying glass. This way, they probably will think you're just firing lloid, then you fly in fullspeed and nail em. And, as hard as it is to believe, it has worked MANY times against different people.

Also dont quote me on this, but its starting to seem to me that if you purposefully slow down lloid in the beginning, then go forward fullspeed, he goes faster.

another thing i do with the lloid is start up fast, then before i hit them, slow down, if they drop thier shield, speed up again.

It's fun to do lloid shenanigans like that, definitely. A lot of them see me speed by them after I miss, then I slow down, and as lloid comes to a stop, they approach, meaning to punish, but lloid explodes in their faceXD

I keep hearing so many Lloyd tricks I swear you can make Villager pull a bunny out of her pocket with Lloyd. I'm not the only one who thinks that Lloyd is Villager's third best move, right behind f-air and b-air, right?

Most of Villager's moves are great
Nair is great, albeit short range
Fair and bair are...well, they're freaking slingshot.
Dair and uair are turnips, which can deal amazing damage if you get 3.
Ftilt stops everything
utilt has SUPER unexpected kill power
dtilt's hitbox and knockback are huge
Lloid can be ridden, and can stop most projectiles
Tree can KO, also can give him access to windbox watercan and axe.
Balloons = best recovery in the game.
Pocket is SO good

Smashes speak for themselves, really.
Dsmash can combo into Usmash or Fsmash if you get the opponent with it
Usmash can combo into itself at low %s
Fsmash is HUGELY powerful, great for edgeguarding opponents recovering low.

Villager has SUCH a good moveset.

just imagine, if equipment was legal, villager with a small speed stat boost, he could do crazy things with his follow ups.

He already could, due to his dash attack and fair/bair having range, but if he still had his DACUS itd be better XP

Won a 72-man tournament with Villager. This is my commemorative tenth post, so I'll add the yt link.

Edit: here's the link. Most impressive match is grand finals which starts at 1:50:00

Villagers only bad move is his grab.

And even then, it DOES have range, and his backthrow IS a killthrow

Also his pot fake out is pretty cool.

Ya know, the one where you cancel his dash attack into a grab, so he does the grab a bit further, but some dirt comes out of the ground?

Good times.

As much as love this video i hurts me to see the commentators getting hype for stuff about villager we've know for a while now.

Probabl because they never see villagers in tournamets. Its all about those fast characters like shiek, diddy, sonic, fox. And powerful characters like gannon, bowser, lil mac and dedede. And select veterans like rob, and special characters like rosalina. And duck hunt

Besides villager tech is fun to watch ^-^

The guys who were commentating usually play Melee, and PM. That's what's most popular in the Nebraska Smash scene. There's more interest in 3.5 than in Sm4sh, so when they commentated they were surprised to see all of the stuff you can actually do in the game.

So I've heard commentators call the lloid a fire hydrant and now it's a cactus haha

Honestly, Villager is just too good.

His only downfall is reflectors, like Falco's downB, since most of his attacks are projectiles.

Pocketing that Lloid Rocket, tho.

Am I the only Villager who doesn't mind reflectors? I'm more worried about my edge guarding options being reflected than my on-stage options.
