Being a veteran is terrible, because you're just a killing machine with nobody to kill.

This is unrelated but even gangs have gotten involved with the army. It was either that or incarceration. They used that to recruit game members. An example of this would be when soldiers come to the schools. So while recruiting for the army, they were recruiting gang members. And it's not a good thought for some people when they hear that gangs are being professionally trained to kill...
Everyone is having trouble finding a job.

random question, how old are you?
True but I thought veterans were guaranteed employment or something. I don't see how they could be homeless.

AAAHHHHAHAHAHAHAHHAhAHAHAHAHA

First, there is no such thing as guaranteed employment. Even med school graduates aren't guaranteed anything (thought they have a higher chance of actually getting one).

Second, let's pretend that going to the military guarantees you a job. It's really hard to give someone a job based on some credential when there are no jobs.

That makes sense. I just continuously hear about veterans getting jobs when they returned. Then I came across that video and I was like wtf. I thought it was an issue related to the government. But what about housing? I don't see why all these veterans are homeless. The government could've done something about that.

Life doesn't work this way unfortunately..

They weren't at least given some kind of benefit towards being able to get a job like, to make it easier to get one because they were a veteran?

This is discrimination and the thought of an applicant losing a position to somebody less qualified who happened to deploy ought to infuriate you.

I know it's easier for veterans to be re-employed at their previous places of business, though they have to have given written notice beforehand, and not have more than 5 years cumulative absence due to Military duties, at least that's how it goes in Illinois. But for someone just looking for a job, Military Service will be counted in your favour, but little else changes.

There sure as hell aren't federal jobs for every vet. I'm guessing the high unemployment comes from all the entitled veterans who think getting shipped across the world for a war makes them too good to flip burgers with the rest of us.
But wouldn't the Government be at fault for this? A lot of the veterans I've seen over the last few years are missing some kind of body part or at least a few marbles. It looked like the laws that passed said the Government had this covered and would do something, but if they did, I don't think the veterans would be out in the street. Why pass the laws if they are useless?

Just came across this.

President Barack Obama signs the Veterans Opportunity to Work to Hire Heroes Act of 2011 (VOW to Hire Heroes Act), that will provide tax credits to help put veterans back to work. This morning, President Obama signed the "VOW to Hire Heroes Act" into law, telling those in attendance:
Back in September, I sent Congress a jobs bill. And in it, I proposed a tax credit for any business that hires a veteran who’s been unemployed for at least four weeks. I proposed an even bigger tax break if a business hires a veteran who’s been unemployed for at least six months. And if a business hires an unemployed veteran with a disability related to their service, I proposed doubling the tax break that we already have in place.
Today, because Democrats and Republicans came together, I’m proud to sign those proposals into law. And I urge every business owner out there who’s hiring to hire a veteran right away.
The is just one of the intiatives the President has enacted in order to ensure that the country fulfills its obligation to our servicemembers and their families.
And it's just one part of the President's plan to put the American people back to work. At the bill signing, he told lawmakers that families all over the country are demanding the same kind of bold, bipartisan action.
"My message to every member of Congress is keep going," President Obama said, "Keep working."
