I dunno...
I borrowed a copy of Melee (+ Mario Kart DD) from a friend 2 years ago. He said I could keep it because he never plays video games, let alone Nintendo ones. I am moving to North Carolina from New York... and now he wants the game back. I should be nice about this. He did let me take the game I never payed for, and I definitely had a blast learning the secrets within. Then I look at prices for a copy of Melee. Whoa. At least $40 for a complete copy (I want my games complete). As a person who does not receive an income, this is real expensive!

I dunno if it is just me... but are Gamecube games in general increasing in value? You would expect a game as old as Melee (whoa 13 years) to be cheaper, but no. I guess the increase of value should be looked as a good thing right?

Ahh well, time to buy myself a real copy of Melee.

Not really rising, they've been that way for like 3 years. I've always had a nice chunk of first party titles for GC so I'm not worried about scalpers and resellers.

Not at all, more people who can afford to play the better.

If you look hard enough you can get some off Ebay for at least 20$ sill expensive but worth it, I Got all my games from there, and every single one i enjoyed playing. (except for pikmin)

On the tip of your nose.
I borrowed a copy of Kirby Air Ride of my friend once... sold it for a quick £30.
Considering it was in tatty condition, not a bad score. I do wish they were cheaper however, it'd make collecting my favs much easier.

Most knowledgeable people agree that the retro video market is about crash and prices will again stabilize within an affordable range. However, the price of Super Smash Bros. Melee is expected to remain relatively high and even increase because the game is still played competitively at tournaments and is accessible to those who own backwards compatible Wii's.

Watch what happens with Super Smash Bros. IV on the Wii U carefully because its fortunes will have a dramatic impact on the price of copies of Super Smash Bros. Melee.

BTW, I have a copy of Melee that's still new in its original wrapper. :)

Sadly, it only the 'Best Seller' version.
