Vacuum Luigi for Brawl

There's a support thread for FLUDD Mario, so I figure, "Hey! Why not Vacuum Luigi?"

Early when the name "brawl" wasn't announced to the world, Vacuum Luigi was one of my most wanted character. It was a very popular idea at the time.

It's still a neat idea, if you ask me, but I think other characters have a better chance now. Still, that won't stop me from making a support thread!

So, what do you think? A Vacuum Luigi character? Or simply give the regular Luigi a vacuum?

I think that if you're going to have it, it should be a different character, because Luigi is Fine just the way he is.

The vacuum could easily make it in as an item. I always thought it was stupid for two of the same character to be in the game.

I think its a pretty decent idea. It'd make him more unique, rather than just a near-clone of Mario (which I know he's not, but there are still many resemblences.)

fair enough, if it can make people stop saying that luigi is a clone

but nintendo is crazy. they make a team of 2 foxes, a bird, and a frog have a great game series.
Originally, it was a fox, bird, hare, and frog, but yeah, whatever.

Yes, Nintendo has come crazy characters.

two plumber brothers
a giant gorilla with a tie
an elfen-like guy wearing a green tunic and tights.
some small pink creampuff

You know where I'm going with this.

i_eat_fried_worms, don't you mean they make a team with a fox, bird, hare, and frog and have a great game series. Nintendo's games with 2 foxes, a bird, and a frog sucked major crap.

Oh and on topic, the vacuum should be his grab, to make the difference between mario and him slightly bigger. but grab only, no separate character.

I've seen lots of comments like those, and Ihave to admit, that definitely makes sense, and it will make Luigi less of a clone!

I would rather see it as an item, but I wouldn't mind if Luigi used the vacuum for his grab and smash B moves. I don't want to have his entire move list centered around the vacuum though, which I'm afraid is going to happen in order to make him completely different from Mario.

Nah, they wouldn't do that! That's like changing Mario's whole moveset to add in the FLUDD.

Vaccuum...? Maybe...

Hmm... I oppose the idea of remaking Luigi to encompass the Poltergust 3000. It's just wrong. Luigi was different enough in Melee to credit him as an actual character and not just a Mario clone. Now that I have voiced my opinion, I will add a few extra comments:

1) Luigi is PWNZORZ!!!1!11! (My god, I can't believe I just said that. Shame on me... :urg: )

2) If any moves were to be changed, I say lose the Trowel Stab (Forward Smash), and possibly A+A+A Combo (Well, at least the third A... Couldn't be a kick like Mario, oh no, it had to be (Pardon the profanity) an *** thrust...)

3) Some Mechanics behind Poltergust:

Well, my idea of how it should work is to have it picked up as an item, and when used, the flashlight will turn on, blinding and stunning the hapless victim (Like Mewtwo's disable, to a degree) and then you can suction out the life (or increase the % I should say) for however long the stun period is. It will follow the mechanics of Luigi's Mansion, with stun length determined by how close you are to your opponent. Whether this is a one-time item or going have charges on it is debatable.

*This is just my opinion. There is no fact in this post, and if there is some relation to this and some other piece of writing, by someone else or even by Nintendo, it is purely coincidental.*

It's okay, you are entitled to your opinion, and I respect that.

I just fel that since FLUDD Mario had his own support thread, I think Vacuum Luigi should, too. After all, Vacuum Luigi had his own trophy in Melee.

I'm all for a full-on reworking of the character. Luigi was cool in SSB and SSBM, but all of his moves were either made up or borrowed from Mario. Luigi finally got his own major game last generation, and I think it only makes sense to alter his character in Smash Bros to accomodate that. And die-hard Luigi's Mansion fans (like me and probably somebody else in the world) will tell you that his vaccum does more than suck up ghosts, it's also known to shoot fire on occasion. That's enough of a reason to give SSBB Luigi a vaccum for me.

And take a gander at Luigi's special car in Mario Kart DS and tell me that the Poltergust isn't one of Luigi's main characteristics.

No matter which way they go, I still demand a Luigi's Mansion stage.

I think Luigi is OK as he is, his vacuum could be a super smash move but I have the feeling that Luigi's super smash will be a vertical blast of fire as opposing to the Mario's horizontal one.

Yeah, plus his would be green! :p

I don't see a reason NOT to include Luigi's vacuum in the game. After all, that's pretty much what he's known for in Mario spin-offs.

Here's a moveset I figured would work with Vacuum Luigi.

Up + B Reverse Vacuum - Luigi puts his Vacuum in reverse mode and depending on which way the control stick is pointing, Luigi will go in the opposite direction.

Foward + B Green Missle - Same as Melee ( I don't know if thats exactly what its called xD )

Neutral + B Shoots out an elemental ball, either Fire, Water or Ice at a 33.3% chance each with different effects such as;

- When hit with fire, person will be on fire and will continuously gain 1% every 2 seconds until the STOP DROP & ROLL or they are hit with a Neutral + B water ball. Person will not gain % when hit with another fireball or iceball whilst burning.
- When hit with water, person will become wet and when they move they will slide when they try to stop. To get rid of the effect they'll need to jump a few time to dry themselves or get hit by a Neutral + B iceball. Person will not gain % when hit with another waterball or fireball.
- When hit with an iceball they'll will have a 50% chance to freeze but will not be sent in the air like the item 'Freezie' would. Person will unfreeze after 3 seconds or when hit with a Neutral + B fireball. Person will not gain % when hit with another iceball or waterball.

Down + B Use the vacuum to suck the opponent towards Luigi, person caught in the suction would need to push the control stick in the opposite direction of Luigi and jump. Whilst in the suction of Luigi's vacuum person would gain %, if the person getting pulled towards doesn't resist and gets very close to Luigi Luigi will have them 'grabbed'.

Hmm, that took longer to write then I thought it would because things were just coming to me.

Dammit, double post.

EDIT 2 : Friggen edit isn't working on the first post so I'll just say what I was gonna put in there, here.

Neutral + B The longer you hold the B button the further the elemental balls are sent.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Smash Attacks

Side A - Thunderhand, just like Mario's, 'cept with THUUUNNDAAAR.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Grabs

When Luigi has grabbed someone they will be on the end of Luigi's vacuum.

Luigi grabs by extending the pole of the vacuum towards the enemy with the vacuum suction on but it will not have nearly as much range suction as Luigi's Down + B.
