The reluctant dictator excuse. I'm sure Augustus Caesar pulled the same stunt when the Roman Senate gave him that much power.

Honestly, it's looking more and more certain that the Mayans DID predict the end times.
I agree with you except Obama is only going to be president for one more year. Unless he gets reelected ... but let's not kid ourselves, it's very unlikely that that will happen.

Honestly with the garbage republican candidates we have he does have more of a shot than he really should.

God this country's political situation disgusts me.

Does any other first world country have anything like this?

Fighting against equality, having the ability to imprision without trial, all of this isn't exactly doing your world view any good.

To be honest, Rome did need a dictator at that point.

So the U.S. is suddenly the police of the world. I'll be honest and say this doesn't surprise me one bit. It's no wonder a bunch of other foreign countries hate us.

Well, policing all the developing countries anyway.

Always makes me wonder why you spend so much money on defense when the only countries you can go to war with are the ones without nukes, meaning their military probably isn't that good in the first place.

I'll be honest and say that the U.S. actually chose their targets during the Iraq war. I could be wrong, but I'm guessing it wasn't the whole "weapons of mass destruction" reason that we went to Iraq in the first place; I'm betting that was a front for Bush to finish a quarrel from years back. Didn't his dad have a fight with Saddam at one point?

I guess the point is that we don't go to war with countries we can war with, more than the countries we will war with. Except Afghanistan... the terrorist groups there asked for it.

Some big **** is going to happen in 2012.

Maybe this 2012 "end of the world" thing isn't too farfetched after all?
Elections and politics are just a game like football. Yes I just said that. The picture that LuigiToilet posted this : http://abstrusegoose.com/strips/illusion.PNG

Truth my friend.
I find politics to be more crooked than a child's "chicken scratch" handwriting. That said, the pic posted does best illustrate the lose/lose situation that politics have been for so many years now.

Its quite possible it may not be the literal end of the world.
Just a drastic change in how we live.
But thats another threads argument.

I don't know about end of the world but...you know the theory that eventually the universe stops expanding and starts contracting back into the big crunch? Or maybe that was just in Solar 2...I feel like that's what's happening with the "social universe", A LOT of different things seem to be speeding towards collisions in our world right now. I don't know as though it will all hit the fan in 2012 either, but I do feel as if some serious **** is going down in the next 20-50 years, maybe less than that.
