I was thinking maybe discussing Halberd, but if you guys really want to do Japes, we can do that next...or Green Hill Zone? Nah.

I hate Japes, it gets a 1/5 from me.

The only good thing about this stage is the music.

Sure maybe you can take some characters like Weegee here who needs vertical kills more than you, but I still hate this place because the only characters I ever fight here are the ones that reap more benefit from this place than I do.

Maybe I don't see the good things about this stage, but I'm guessing Sonic isn't the only character who really hates this stage. Playing Ike, I d*** well know how much he hates that map.

But seriously If I can get the chance too, I will ALWAYS ban this stage.

Our great recovery is indeed a bit useless. Sad thing is, when we go in the water and we're almost offscreen, you can't do jump > SDHop > double jump > spring. You'll fall in the water is SD. also jump to Spring doesn't make it back to stage.

2/5 for me, because I just love the stage/music/background.

Yeah...any more last comments on Jungle Japes? Not too much really goin for Sonic here >_>

We'll be moving on to the next stage shortly then...I'm thinkin' Halberd, since it's one of my favorite counterpicks.

Japes sucks.

That's all you need to know.

/hate.

So is there a "best" option to use to escape out of the water? I'm thiknig using a delayed HA to bounce off a platform if you happen to be under one would be sweet, but I'm not sure if that's reliable in any way... but I'm thinking anything would be better than Springing to just delay your death...

Gah this stage sucks so bad for Sonic, let's move on to something I won't ban please.

I normally only use japes for characters with crappy recoverys and powerful up kills. Has anybody had any luck taking a snake here? :(

I hate JJ a lot... but the last time I played on it, I ***** on it... unnecessarily hard, so there was blood everywhere.

Hint: my opponent was Luigi!

That sounds like a good idea. i may try that. but then if he camps on the edges then what?
Yeah, I was just thinking the same thing. The Snake can just camp super hard...and it's not like Ftilt kills get any harder, they actually get easier.

Good thoughts though guys...thinkin' OUTSIDE DA BOX BOXOB BOXXY STEAK!

Hmm...I think I'm going to leave this up for more discussion. It's interesting to try and come up with things to make terribad stages not as bad.

Is there enough space for Sonic to travel underneath the main platform with a SideB?

Or maybe even the little platforms.

(Run off platform>SideB under>Jump Cancel>Uair sneak steak attack)

Eh? Eh?

Ok so I played a number of matches vs Angel, who plays a pretty solid Snake (), and both concluded that its definately a reliable counterpick option (I our opinions).

1)Sonic has a much easier time getting around than snake does
2)Snake cant really camp on the sides too well bc of the limited space. Also sharking him with Uair through the platform seemed pretty safe/effective.
3) Dthrow close to the sides of the middle section can set him up in a gimpable position, and if you're lucky maybe even a clap trap.
4)Weakens one of his best kill moves (Utilt)

The main con I found was that it was pretty hard to see his C4/grenades/explosives in general. =/

I mean, yeah, its an overall crappy map for sonic but I do believe that its an option vs Snake.

I still hate Japes, no matter who I fight on it with.

(Camal, I suggest you move us on to another stage, or I'll just be spamming up this thread with "Ihate Japes, /discussion.")

Curse you Kinzer.

Okay, Japes is done. I'll update this soon, then move onto the next stage.

Shall we go with Pokeymanz Stadium One then?

It's funny because the TO here in Vegas has Pkmn Stad I as a starter stage. He also had like 1 or 2 usual CP stages as starter stages as well.

I feel Sonic can really take advantage of certain forms of that stage.

Pokeymanz FTW, it was only eventually that we would come here.

So Sonic may be neutral or at an advantage when you take him here... however you might as well commit suicide when you bring Haunter to this stage.

BTW Camal if we're going to do Pokeymanz, please update the title... you can update Japes whenever, but I don't wanna come back here and forget we're moving on and make myself look stupid. XD

I'll give a more detailed opinion write-up on the stage sometime in the future.

Btw Camal If We're Gonig To Do Pokeymanz, Please Update The Title... You Can Update Japes Whenever, But I Don't Wanna Come Back Here And Forget We're Moving On And Make Myself Look Stupid. Xd

love the title.
hate the electric part of the stage. period.
other than that, i don't mind the stage too much. I think Sonic benefits the most on its ordinary form and on its flying setup when the opponent is at high damage (uthrow ftw).

oops.

that one is better than the brawl one, definitely. I wouldn't say that it's particularly a bad stage for Sonic, but the mountain stage kinda sorta messes up Sonic maneuverability. otherwise, it's ok in my books. i wouldn't know who i should avoid on this stage though.

fanboyism

Sonic doesn't run on the water. WTF.

Juzz dun fall for Ike/D3's grab infinite on the mountain section and you're G2G. Also the mountain part makes it all too easy to avoid people... even if you're in the infite area, usually you're opponent is too afraid to approach in there because you're basically proected on all sides... except the top part, but that can easily be taken care of with your Uair and junk. You're too slow spam also becomes very prominent on the mountain part.

Also if you look back to Sonic the Hedgehog 3 for the Sega Genesis, Sonic if he was running fast enough could actually run over the water in the second act of Hydrocity.

I know that. He runs over water in Sonic Advance 2, 3, and the Sonic Rush games. But in windmill pokeymanz stage, Sonic doesn't run over the water. wtf.

I <3 this stage.

Platforms for anti-spam, yet enough space for maneuverability. (lol real word)

Wall combos during the fire section are too good.

On the rock stage, the right ledge is actually a small raised platform that your opponent can't roll from.

As such, you can also SDR>(mini ASC) shield cancel.

That **** was maaaaddd annoying in Melee.

Like, sometimes I'd forget it was there.

I'd try to wavedash backwards to go for the edgehog.

Then I didn't go anywhere.

Well I did mention the wall infinite on the rock stage with Ike/D3 as an example...

Though we can write this off as one of Sonic's best "neutral counterpick" stages.
