Update Frequency vs. Update Quality

In a nutshell, would you rather have daily updates of questionable quality - or weekly/fortnightly updates which entail major parts (characters, etc.) of the game?

Me? Well - I can't decide. I would like a few more bombshells to be dropped, but I understand the need for secrecy and the ideas behind pacing of the provision of information. Plus, what Sakurai sees as major, may be insignificant to many players.
Also, I need constant reassurance when it comes to the development of projects that I am interested in (paranoid much?). Nothing worse than hearing nothing from a developer for months at a time.

In theory, Sakurai should have a few bombshells left that can be dropped, and I would like to see them - giving up daily updates for weeklies. However, I do enjoy the daily system - it is comforting and it's an honour to have developers that will do such a thing - as it is rare.

What are your thoughts?

Well, normally I'd say Quality above quantity, but now we have something to look forward to everyday. Remember how Dragonball Z mostly disapointed, but you were always excited for the next episode the next day?

Uh..

The way we're getting it now.

Decent updates, some less decent... some amazing..

This will turn into a "lets complain about updates!" thread.

That's like saying, would you rather have 6 ugly dogs or 1 beautiful Golden Retriever.

Err...
That's a good analogy :p I like it.

I'm hoping/assuming that anyone around who would do such a thing doesn't know what frequency is, and find it hard to read my first post. :p

Hmm.. You know, I actually only want a few, maybe 1 in 2 weeks, mind-blowing updates so as to keep the actual game fresh and new when it comes out and not have everything spoiled. Not like I'm a none-spoiler maniac, I just don't want the big amazing stuff to be revealed in an instant and be tortured until Brawl and during.

I thought most of the recent updates were great. They may not be bombshells or something completely exciting but it's always interesting to learn something new from Brawl.

Too me, alot of them were in good quality. Ones like "YOU MUST RECOVER" and "WIDESCREEN" are incredibly pointless. (Atleast widescreen had a double update)

Admittly...I liked the options update (it was decent to me, but yeah definitely not great). I've always wondered how the menu screen would look. :p

EDIT: Personally, I still beleive we should get atleast 1 bombshell update every week. I can consider things like "THE TEMPLE STAGE FROM MELEE RETURNS" as a bombshell. Stages are one of the most important things in Brawl aside from characters.

confirmed. Sending supplies.
Weekday updates. At least if you don't like it, you can wait for the next day's update and see how that goes. Plus, it's nice to see smaller bits of the game. We all know that they're including huge stuff in the game, but why not see what else they've put into it?

That actually sparked my interest - perhaps the updates also help to showcase lesser features of the game, to highlight their strong points.
For example, if there wasn't an update on the coin shooter, would it have generated so much talk about it?

I think you might be onto something.

I would way rather have better quality at a lesser frequency, i dont like staying up for updates all week just to find out there nothing special.
