Have you forgotten the most basic part of emotionally breaking your opponent? By pretending the opposition has a chance, they feel as if they can possibly win the battle, perhaps the war! Then when you play along and bring yourself right where they want you, you then proceed to skip the rest of the foreplay and display an outright comical amount of skill, strength and speed that they don't even get the time to think "What? How can one have held back this much? Am I nothing but a child's toy to her?"

Maybe it varies between colleges and degrees. But a thesis in one of the Bachelor's sciences doesn't surprise me. I think they don't make us have a thesis for literature because of the ridiculous amounts of papers we always have to write for every literature class. Funnily enough, my Master's program won't require me to write a thesis either.

Lucky. I have to write a thesis by the end of my senior year just to graduate.

At the very least I have a lab with which to do it. I'm better off than most of my peers in that regard.

If not, then you can just space out when she rants. Throw out an "uh-huh" or "yeah" every once in a while, nod a bit maybe to show that you're "listening". You don't even have to look her in the eyes or anything like that. She'll eventually tire herself out that way.
