I thought red and blue came out before the anime, I don't remember having the option to select Ash as your name in those games... if you did then that's weird.
Yes, you did

So Nintendo bends it's own rules?....... that's kind of deceitful, in a deceitful sort of way.
Sakurai =/= Nintendo
He's second party

And Pikachu got his popularity from the games, which is why he's Ash's starter in the anime.

While Sakurai is trying to stay away from anime popularity... Tyranitar is more popular that even more obscure peple... lets see.. generic pokemon = small, adorable, large eyes.. now Tyranitar= lrage,not so pleasing to the eye, but cool in the sense that he's a gigantic lizard in a sea of small, cute, fuzzy things, we need some large, powerful, Heavy pokemon, which Mewtwo didn't deliver. Tyranitar would take the "poke" from Pokemon, and replace it with "Sucker-Punch" making him a generic "Sucker-punchemon"!
Mewtwo is still powerful and incredibly cool. Mewtwo has strength as well, but in a different way. Tyranitar has brawn, Mewtwo has brain (and in the world of psychic Pokémon, that means much more than intelligence). In both the anime and the games, Mewtwo could destroy a Tyranitar.

Why should Tyranitar be a PC in Brawl?

I want GOOD reasons.
Well there are none really. Sakurai has stated multiple times that he wants this to be a game everyone can enjoy, and not 'everyone' will know what a Tyranitar is compared to Mewtwo or Lucario. Tyranitar really isn't that important. He would make an excellent Poké Ball Pokémon though, whipping up a Sandstorm and causing abrasive damage to other players.

Tyrannitar is alright, but theres more deserving pokemon, so unfortunetly its useless. Blazkiken and lucario should have more priotity.

Okay, I've had Lucario explained to me, but why the infatuation with Blaziken that I've seen around here? Is it really important in the show or some movie too?

If blaziken had a bit more speed... but tyranitar is too awesome and it pwnz blaziken eight days a week...
He's already fast. Looks like a good fighter... I think id take lucario over him tho, plus lucario is hella popular.
