Ok, you may now be thinking WTF WHO IS TYRANITAR WHY IS HE IN BRAWL WTF

Tyranitar is a 2nd gen pokemon, G/S/C's version of Dragonite and Salamence...

His page on the serebii pokedex can be found here.

Notes on it's physics:
Running speed: Definetely higher than bowsers, but not by much
Jumping: Tyranitar is HEAVY, and has a low jump height... but bigger than zelda's double jump... enough to get some recovery...

My moveset:

A: Jab. Quick attack
F-tilt: Semi-powerful punch. Short range, but gook knockback. Kills around 150-200%
D-tilt: Sweeping Tail. Hits opponent up, but may trip them.
U-tilt: Flip. Flips quickly and hits with tail. Can't hit to the sides, but juggles well
F-Smash: Thrash. Hits three times, dealing increasing knockback. The second hit brings the opponent in, third kills around 125%, super armor when hitting.
D-Smash: Ground breaker. Jumps about as high as Bowser's upsmash, and lands dealing a good amount of knockback. Kills around 130%, super armor when he is coming down.
U-smash: Rock Crusher. Pounds his hands together, creating a shockwave hitbox above him. While bringing his hands up, knockback hits into the shockwave.
N-air: Spike spin. Spins around, swinging his tail to the sides. A bit more knockback than the f-tilt. Comparable to marth and roy's nair
F-air: Head bang. Hits his head foreward, then up. Knockback at start is foreward, end of move is upward. Low knockback, but very quick
B-air: Tail whip. Same as mewtwo's
U-air: Spike spin. Similar to bowser's up throw animation, sucks them in and deals upwards knockback. DIing out results in being sent at a low angle.
D-air: Stomp. Stomps, giving almost no knockback, then whipping the tail down to deal huge knockback. Only the tail can be meteor canceled. Sort of an up-side down fox and falco uair.

SPECIALS:
B: Sandstorm. countdown timer, like bowser's new one in the demo. Sucks opponent in, hitboxes in a circle around tyranitar. diminishes with time
Smash B: Stone edge. Charges forward, like Ganon and C. Falcon's smash b. When it hits, Tyranitar pounds the opponent. Super armor during the pounding. Can be used to regain some horizontal distance, but distance gets smaller each time used.
Down B: Endure. Lasts about twice as long as roy's coutner, same lag afterwards. When in use, attacks deal no knockback. Opponents who hit tyranitar during the no-konckback time will be stunned til the lag of the move wears off.
Up B: Pursuit. Charges at the nearest enemy or ledge. If it connects, can be used again. The farther distance, the greater damage. Startup lag a bit less than ganondorf's up b. Range about 3/4 of zelda's up b.

Grabs & throws:
Standing has average distance, running has greater, but huge lag if misses.
A: Bites for 2-3 damage.
Down throw: Comparable to sheiks, but less knockback.
Up throw: Grabs with mouth, tosses upwards. Chainthows fastfallers at 60 %
Forward throw: Punts the opponent. KOs around 120%
Back throw: Like up trow, but instead throws behind.

Final Smash:
Sand Stream - Tyranitar roars to summon up a sandstorm
that drastically lowers the speed of all other charcters and Tyranitar will still take any
damage but no knockback. 9-12 damage per sec. 20 seconds long.
Please rate and comment. Tyranitar FTW! :item9:

Theres nothing much to support here, Tyranitar just seems a little farfetch'd(0_o i made a pun :psycho:)
And Pichu was super popular in Japan when SSBM came out so....
I just dont see Tyranitar as anything more than a pokeball

although Tyranitar is one of my favorite pokemon...his chances as a playable one is next to nothing...I would love him in though...

I'd love to see tyranitar in Brawl if that makes you feel any better. The reason people are
disagreeing is because it's unlikely. And just 4 fun, i would have a differeny moveset :

Height - *****
Speed - **
power - ****
jump - ***

B - Rock slide - throws a large rock about the size of a barrel straight forward.
17-22% damage

<-> B - Thrash - punches, kicks, and then pounds the ground with both feet, but takes a minute to use
20-26% damage

Down B - Earthquake - jumps and lands with a smashing eartquake all around it.
17-25% damage

Up B - Pursuit - Rushes upward towards the nearest enemy or if you're off the side of the
stage you'll rush back to the stage.
14-19% damage

FINAL SMASH - Sand Stream -
Tyranitar roars to summon up a sandstorm
that drastically lowers the speed of all other charcters and Tyranitar will still take any
damage but no knockback. 9-12 damage per sec. 20 seconds long.

I agree it would be pretty cool to play, and I can picture how he'd work a lot better than I can a lot of the unlikely suggestions, but unfortunately, he is one of those.

Pictures would be nice:

I don't know why people suggest obscure and non popular pokemons, just look at all of the ones that have been in Smash, they are either famous because of the anime or a movie, Lucario and Darkrai are really the only pokemon with a chance of being playable.

LOL.

I LOVE TYRANITAR! GREATEST POKEMON EVER!

But I doubt he'll be playable; he just doesn't have the proportions. I see him more as a pokeball, in that he uses Sand Stream to whip up a blast of dust from his mouth and spill caross the entire field.

While Sakurai is trying to stay away from anime popularity... Tyranitar is more popular that even more obscure peple... lets see.. generic pokemon = small, adorable, large eyes.. now Tyranitar= lrage, not so pleasing to the eye, but cool in the sense that he's a gigantic lizard in a sea of small, cute, fuzzy things, we need some large, powerful, Heavy pokemon, which Mewtwo didn't deliver. Tyranitar would take the "poke" from Pokemon, and replace it with "Sucker-Punch" making him a generic "Sucker-punchemon"!

Just look at the pokemon that have been in the series so far:

Pikachu = Popular for the anime
Jigglypuff = Popular for the anime
Mewtwo = Popular for the movie
Pichu = got in for being just an alteration of Pikachu
Squirtle, Charizard and Ivysaur = Popular for the anime.

Now, why is it safe to say that Lucario and Darkrai are the best choices, because they both have movies.

Pikachu's in the anime cause he was uber popular in the game
Jigglypuff was uber popular in the game IN JAPAN
Mewtwo was popular in the game
Pichu was a 2nd gen rep
Squirtle,Charizard,Ivysaur: popular in game, also, squirtle is first form of blastoise, ivysaur is second of venusaur, Charizard third of Charizard, ordinarily they'd put in bulbasaur, but he doesn't fit that pattern.
they're in the anime becase they're popular in the game, and a few of them are the starters for pete's sake, they're popular in the game too!

Oh dear god, are that naive to say that? it's obvious, that is because of the anime, not for the games, they wouldn't be in Smash if it wasn't for the anime, Pikachu is the most important pokemon because of the anime.

Pikachu = Popular for the anime
And for being the starter in yellow...
Jigglypuff = Popular for the anime
Mainly in japan, not as much in the us...
Mewtwo = Popular for the movie
And being the uber in R/B/Y
Pichu = got in for being just an alteration of Pikachu
Which is why he will probably be removed, an now we need a 2nd gen representitive
Squirtle, Charizard and Ivysaur = Popular for the anime.
And from being starters in R/B and challenges to get in yellow...

apparently quite a few people are naive enough to say pikachu is in the game thanks to it's popularity. unfortunately for you, you, in my eyes, are fighting a losing battle. Pikachu, over a sandshrew, or a weedle, why is Pikachu the starter Ash gets? why? Because Pikachu, was, popular, in, the, game

yellow is Nintendo's representation of the anime, ash had to work for bulbasaur.squirtle, and charizard

Which further boosted pikachu's popularity... My first actual video game was pokemon yellow...
If there was a Pokemon yellow was because of Pikachu's popularity because of the anime, why are you guys even arguing this? The pokemon in the Smash series are popular because of the anime, all the games came out after the anime, thus, they include the popular pokemons of the anime.

I thought red and blue came out before the anime, I don't remember having the option to select Ash as your name in those games... if you did then that's weird.

AHEM! ONE game came out of the anime. The anime, IMO, is frikin demented. I think sakurai said something about using more VIDEO GAME characters than anime characters.

anyway Sakurai said NO ANIME CHARACTERS just like that, not less, just no anime characters, most likely the way to bar trashy characters like a certain blond ninja, I'm trying to figure out what made Pikachu so... (wait a minute... vesperview if that's true Pikachu originated in the anime, and your arguement is useless...) if not... special over pokemon who are plenty smash worthy, you can't say you didn't like busting people up with Mewtwo. Pikachu has no more fighting ability than Sand(Coffin)Shrew. ... really the anime started first.. then... IT'S TOO LATE, PIKACHU IS THE FACE OF POKEMON AS WE KNOW IT. I dislike SSB64, and all it's anime loving madness.

You forget that Nintendo has a lot of involvement with the anime and they own it, is not like it's Naruto geez.
