Turnip Flashing

Sup guys, I'm a ROB player that recently discovered an item tech for ROB that also applies to peach. With turnip in hand and grounded, you jump->within a frame or two, hit z->2 frames later waveland in any direction. I haven't explored the exact frame data for peach but it's something like this. The end result is a slow wavedash with the turnip hitbox flashing for a frame. Really nice way to hit someone with a stitch and still retain it afterwards. Probably good with normal turnips too.

This is a nice find.

A normal turnip only does one percent of damage when used this way, winky faces and dot eyes a bit more. It's unlikely that you would get superimposed onto your opponent randomly in neutral, so this is definitely not a good approach option.

This might have potential uses as an OOS option. Done perfectly, the hitbox comes out two frames faster than a nair, so if your opponent hits your shield and is right on top of you, coming out with a turnip is (sometimes) a bit safer than coming out with a nair.

I did some rough hitstun calculations using SB's calculator, and it turns out that at higher percents, you still have the frame advantage after your wavedash ends. At lower percents, there's a possibility your opponent will be able to react before you even finish your wavedash. At very high percents where your opponent has enough hitstun for Peach to jump and Z-drop again, this might even be some sort of turnip waveshine against opponents that don't know how to DI it. It'd definitely be surprising to perform such a thing, but such high percents are already WAAAAYYYY past kill percents that such a thing would be pretty much swag-tech.

I believe z-dropped stitches have equal or maybe slightly more knockback than z-dropping regular turnips though. I dunno... I would never z-drop a stitch. lol Sounds like nice tech though.

Z-dropped Stitches in PM work properly (they still do crazy amounts of damage and knockback), unlike in Melee where their properties revert to those of a normal turnip; I think that's what you're thinking of? Z-dropping a stitch in this case would be totally fine.

This is neat!, i'll have to play around with it in the lab when i get a chance but sounds like a neat tool to catch people off guard.

I see this as more a defensive option if someone is running towards you with stitch in hand.
