I've chosen to organize this thread in two ways: by player and by character. This way all of a person's videos can be found easily, but all videos vs. a character can also be found when someone needs to study the matchup.
  • In the "By Player" section, videos are organized alphabetically by Olimar player, then by opponent character, then by opponent.
  • In the "By Character" section, videos are organized alphabetically by character, then in reverse chronological order.

These are the guidelines for posting videos that you would like added to the OP
  1. When posting a video, please include whether the game was a tournament match, a friendly, or a money match.
  2. Do not suggest videos that are older than six months. (Initially there will be a few 7 month old videos posted, but this is just a transition phase.) Feel free to post them just for us to watch though :p
  3. Videos will only be added to the OP if the opponent is a player of adequate skill. No videos of 3 stocking a noob Ganondorf.
  4. Don't be afraid to post videos of Olimar losing, especially if it's in a mu that is not currently listed in the thread. As long as it's a video showing Olimar playing the mu well, it will be considered.
  5. No wifi matches (I figure that's a given).
  6. I will only accept videos of Pink Boots Olimar. (Ok maybe, not. But it doesn't hurt ;))

There is a lot of content in this thread (and I'm sure there will continue to be), meaning a lot of things to manage properly. I am human and I do make mistakes, so let me know if you notice something that needs fixing :)

In the future I will be adding a "Current Videos" section, an idea I'm stealing from the DK video thread (one of the nicest video threads on SWF imo, though ICs gives them a run for their money); it will list the newest videos added to the thread.

As far as updating, I will most likely update when new videos come in and no longer than two weeks after new arrivals at the latest.

I hope you do, especially if it's in an unlisted matchup - I hope that someday we can have videos for all 31 other characters :) (I'm on the fence about putting in dittos, but if some good videos arise I probably would.)

And thanks for nominating those videos but I don't think they're quite good enough; Denti may be a good player but he does not know how to fight Peach properly, at least from what I can tell in these videos.

Alright, I'm fond of breaking things down in list form; it helps remember things easier, so here we go.

1) SH pikmin throw is your friend :) It's a good thing to throw lots of pikmin as Olimar, but you need to SH if you're going to throw them at a safe range, at least in the majority of matchups.

2) Try to grab a little less. You grabbed quite a bit when Diddy was far away from you; at times like those, it's better to SH throw some pikmin.

3) Sit in your shield less. Olimar needs to constantly move and, generally speaking, sitting in your shield in one spot for more than a fourth of a second or as necessary is a bad idea. A lot of the time, it's a better idead to move further away to throw more pikmin or move closer to land a fair/usmash/whatever. This is a problem I had for a long time, so I know how much it can hurt ^_^

3) Don't stale your kill throws with non-killing pikmin when your opponent is at kill percents. I saw you use a yellow fthrow (non-kill pikmin) at 1:56. Moments later, you used a blue fthrow (kill pikmin) but the Diddy barely survived. If you hadn't used that yellow fthrow, that blue fthrow just may have had enough knockback, so you always have to watch out for this. One thing that helps with this is always paying attention to which pikmin is next in line when your opponent gets to kill percents and knowing how best to kill him with it.

4) When Diddy has only one banana, you're sure he's going to throw it at you, and he's a fair distance away, just shield it. The majority of Diddy's will immediately dash in after throwing a banana for a dash attack followup, so grab immediately after the banana hits your shield and voila - the tables are turned, and after you throw Diddy you've got a banana waiting to be used at your feet. This isn't as safe when he has two nanas, so just watch out.

5) I forget who it was, but someone gave me a key piece of advice regarding Diddy's bananas - either A) use them against him or B) place them in front of or behind you and punish him when he goes for them. When you start to think of bananas as tools into forcing a certain action from Diddy, you get a lot more opportunities to hit him because you have a better idea of what he's going to try to do next.

Those are my pointers for now :)

I don't think I could give much advice on this one because this Luigi doesn't know how to play Luigi v. Olimar. Besides, I'm no Luigi expert in the first place - that's Logic territory and he aint talkin :)

One random thing not related to the OP, yes sh toss is good, but dont say you should ways sh your tosses - grounded tosses are way less punishable, and grounded yellow and white toss are usually better than short hopped ones

And I know, but he barely SH threw at all so I figured I'd start him off there :) What Jane said is true though, and as you begin to SH throw more, you will get a better feeling for when your opponent is going to move in to punish it. And really specific side note: SH throw is fairly bad against Samus, just throw from the ground unless you like zair to the face

edit: In retrospect, Greward's avatar kind of makes that first funny because I hear Kermit saying it =)

Sounds good to me. I kind of like having the M2K games up though because of the hype, lol. But I do agree that having the clearer videos is definitely important when they're available.
