I want to re-emphasize the debate topic I posted earlier. Reading the stage discussion thread in the other room, I see a lot of people justifying things based on character balance, and a lot of people ignoring those arguments because they disagree with the premise of that argument. I think people really need to discuss whether we should be adjusting the stagelist for balance as opposed to adjusting it based on what skills it tests independent of character. We cannot resolve the issue until everyone understands everyone else's POV in this regard.

Definitely make the list for what tests skill independent of character, though stages that overcentralize the game (one or two characters are clearly the best choice by a large margin) do not test skill independent of character.

I'm inclined to agree with you, but not everyone does, which is apparent when people argue for a certain set of 5 stages for striking based on it (not) having X character's 'best stage.' Then the discussion gets sidetracked to what X character's best stage actually is, and so on, when for you and me, it's a moot point.
That's not to say that I'm 100% convinced of that side, but we all need to hear the arguments from both sides.
