as if u have psyduck on at 50/50 but u dont even have ness on this list.
he still has a good chance of being in brawl
Ya, I should realy get Phyduck out of there, I really just mean another pokemon

And Ness is gone, "apeared in smash games up untill now", and why would they change his moveset only to give his old one to Lucas, face it hes gone.

Does everyone else know Sakurai said 2-3, I just don't understand why so few?
It came from an interview with sakurai (I belive samuraipanda translated it.) where, one question asked "how many 3rd party characters will there be?"

sakurai went and said something regarding 3rd parties, and said something among the lines of "perhaps 1-2 more, maybe?"

and likewise, brawl overspeculators went and said "ZOMG, THERE MUST B ONLY 1-2 MORE!!!!111"

anyway, I say there'll be perhaps up to 5 3rd parties. that seems to be the most logical number IMO.

Because Smash Brothers is not a general game character fighting game, it's supposed to be "Nintendo's All Stars." While characters like Ice Climbers seem to sort of negate that, the rest of the Smash Bros characters are basically major game characters, specifically first party Nintendo characters. Sonic is a welcome addition as well due to his long history against Nintendo, and recent history on Nintendo consoles. Snake... well, Sakurai was begged, and probably made a few dollars off that deal, so he was added.

Characters like Mega Man are probably the only ones who have a shot due to their long Nintendo histories. A lot of people pull for third party characters that just had a small cameo on a Nintendo console, but honestly, they don't have a chance over third party characters who's entire history was built on Nintendo. Mega Man was just an example, since he was exclusively Nintendo for a long time, regardless of being made by Capcom.

push up Olimar, Megaman, and ballon fighter. Push down Bomberman, Geno, Paper Mario, and Midna and I would say that this list is accurate in likeliness. Oh one more thing, take out young link, that aint happenin any time soon.

Well I certainly hope for 5, and the Sonic Franchise is really big, and Tails if anyone from it should make it in.

To be honest most of the Pokemon I picked don't have any hope, I just think there will be more pokemon, so I picked some I thought would work well, as for Psyduck, ya I need to rethink that.
but as for mike, do you think hes important?, Im not to sure who he is
More important than Psyduck for sure. XD

Erhem... now, joking aside.

StarTropics had two games. The ONLY reason why it did NOT become popular was because it was not released in Japan. It was intended for a western audience... The japanese learned from their mistake and never again made a franchise exclusively for western audiences (until perhaps Pilot Wings).

Anyway... why's it important?

Well... Mike is a MAIN character, and not from one game... from TWO games on the NES.

Sure... they're overlooked, and not popular... but since when did popularity affect how good games are?

I'm not just randomly spitting suggestions here... It's time for this game to be represented in SSB somehow... Perhaps they didn't give Startropics a single trophy in Melee, fearing some kind of uproar, or something.. Because this game beats the 2 original Zeldas in so many ways it's not even funny...

Sidenote: Startropics was made by the same man behind Punch Out, just so you have a clue of what type of mind worked on it. ;) (he also made the save chip used in Zelda for the first time).

Why the hell do people keep on bringing up Twinrova on character lists? C'mon, they're twin witches, who were bosses in OoT, they are way too minor to even be considered.
Well the whiches were in alot of zelda games before they fuzed together, and she was alsoone of the last bosses in the orcale of Seasons and Ages, but if it makes you feel better, I really dought she will make the cut

It is.. Hopefully you'll get to see it when it comes out for the VC (regardless whether he joins Brawl or not)

I wouldn't mind if he even makes it in as a regular trophy.. but a sticker would be insulting for such an awesome game.

Phoenix Wright is kinda like Tom Nook, Hes popular, but he isn't wright for a fighting game, I could be wrong, but like picture him going up to Bowser and saying, "I would like you to know that what you just did to that plumer was a federal offence", Good bye Phoenix. I can see him making it as a AT, because they have more Joke kinda guys there like Dr. Wright who summons Sky Srcapers
Possibly, but I think Brawl can make Phoenix, Tom, and other characters that weren't normally fighters into Brawlers. After all, it's not a serious fighting game of Scorpions, Mitsurugis, Ryus, and Ayumis. This is comical battling, so non-fighters becoming fighters seems to fit the scene.

At least, in my opinion. I just think Phoenix deserves to at least be on the list because he's really popular, has several games, and is 100% Nintendo.

You should restrict Zelda characters to protagonists and important supporting roles such as Midna, Tetra and Sheik, then only the other supporting villains like Zant and Vaati are really worth mention or the OoT Sages like Saria or Darunia who I think were on the poll on the Melee days.

Oh, wow, DeMille got up there! Awesome-sauce. I also noticed "Klonia" on there, might be me having some wishful thinking but was that just a typo of Klonoa?

Also, Mike Jones deserves a spot (others have said this, just supporting it). He's a really neat character, if only because his games only came to the States (and later to Europe), which is unique.

Nice list. I don't know why I love speculating over characters so much, I just do. Heck, that's what Smash Bros was all about in the first place, right?

EDIT: Just to talk about Phoenix Wright... Don't you remember him smashing through a a barred door? "...No match for the PHOENIX" is what I believe he said later about it, hehe.

I like your new list, it's quite a bit more realistic.:)

Except Ashley does not have a good chance. I think we're lucky (well, not really. XD) that we even got a song from her. That may be all of the representation she gets.

Why would Wario, a NEW franchise to Smash, get 2 characters when some of the original franchises still only have 1 characters?
Well, some franchises do not have a good enough second characters. Think of:

•*Kid Icuras.
•*Ice Climbers.
• Yoshi's Story (most everyone belongs to Mario Bros.)

Besides, the new franchises deserve to have more than one new character, who knows when the next SSB game will come out?

I don't see why Wario Ware needs another playable character. If it does it will most definitely not be Ashley. Pick somebody more important to the games.

lol @ Marth being very likely.

...anyway, this list is pretty sad. Marth and Roy are both in the "good chance" category? Ridiculous - Marth should at minimum be very likely, more accurately a shoe-in, and Roy is definitely below 50/50.

I'd like to direct you to the thread linked to the Marth icon in my signature.

Wario is not deserving, of all the franchises, to get a new character.

F-Zero probably is

Why does Ashly have so much support anyway?
I believe mainly it's a trend. A trend that (mostly) started with the song update of hers.

I don't know why that gave the fans hope.

Because DK is Nintendo 3rd best selling franchise maybe?

...AND DKC was an awesome game series especially.

DK needs his villain and deserves more reps...More than lesser selling series
But hes just so stupid, I mean hes a Fat, ******** Looking, Crock wearing a Burger King Crown, can't they have someone else from the DK series.

I mean he was just Rare's pathetic answer to Bowser

Lol at anyone who thinks Marth is anything below very likely.

He is the iconic Fire Emblem character, and generally a cultural icon in Japan, in spite of the gap between now and his games.

Ultimately the attitude of the game's creative team is Japan-centric, and people have to remember that, what's popular in America is not as important as what's popular in Japan, and while most of you don't know this, Marth is very very popular in Japan, definitely a lot more so then any more recent Lord.
