It appears Nintendo is very distrustful of future, game-inspired films/series after the Super Mario Bros. movie that was released many years ago. With that in mind, it would be important that whether it is a televised series or a Hollywood film, it must be 'smashing.' Otherwise, it would probably not be difficult for discontinuation to occur.
