Considering Bthrow does 13.2% raw (before freshness, or staleness)
Uthrow > Uair does 16.8% raw, but becomes much less reliable at higher percents.

Furthermore, mario's ability to pressure people recovering low is... Well, low. He can't go very deep without risking losing stage control, or even his stock from stagespikes, or reversals when he's used his DJ.

He does however, have SUPERB options for covering high recoveries. With Fair, nair, fireball, fludd, he can reasonably cover every option besides going low.

Bthrow does guaranteed damage, and creates a frame trap for fireball. If they DI in/onstage, they can either be hit by fireball, or put their shield up JUST as mario is approaching. Enabling free grabs at times, though generally frame traps. (Grab to beat shield, dash attack for spotdodge, uair for jump/roll since the lack of endlag lets us just bair when they roll in)

To avoid the fireball, they must either jump, or DI out to grab ledge.

A jump can be intercepted/read with aerials.
DI out can be punished by fludd, or just more fireballs and preparing to just cover their ledge get-up options. (What fthrow likely would've done in that situation)

Here's a good example of what I mean.

Furthermore, staling bthrow isn't a huge issue since it only kills roughly 4% worse per staling. And it does at least 3.6% more than any of our other throws. And can reliably get damage with fireball, or opportunities for even more reward.

It should also be noted, Dthrow only does 6%. Dthrow > Uair does 13.1%. Meaning unless it nets a stock, even just bthrow alone is usually superior.

Some caveats:

*Obviously, some characters CAN be reliably pressured and edgeguarded off Fthrow. Some are also obligated to DI in due to this, making mixups with Dthrow viable too.
*Some characters have better options for dealing with frame traps via bthrow. To the point it may be easier to just throw them offstage. (though I doubt it, cause damage)
