Having a hard time finding nice Kirby gameplay in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate? Well do not fear, the Kirby Theater is here! Whether it's tech, tutorials, tournament gameplay, or your own Kirby gameplay, this is the place to share and discuss it! As long as it's about the D'Kirb it's good! And knowing how it can be tricky to find, I've personally already gone out of my way to get a Youtube playlist with a lot of great Kirby footage. Check it out here:

I've also created a Dailymotion video playlist for good Kirby gameplay that can't be uploaded to Youtube. Check that out with this link:

And I'll be updating both of these playlists frequently so be sure to always check in! There's also good streams you can follow for Kirby content too.

Recommended Streams:

Probably one of the most prominent Kirby streamers atm, we have Vernias! : https://www.twitch.tv/vernias_
He's probably the most active Kirby streamer out there atm and is pretty smoking with the Kirb. Give him a follow for sure!

Consider watching SuperGirlKels Twitch here: https://www.twitch.tv/supergirlkels/videos
She often uses Kirby on here streams and can be rather clean with him. Be sure to check her Twitter to know when she'll be streaming.

Another good Twitch channel to follow is JuggleBoy's here: https://Twitch.tv/juggle_boy
He made a handy competitive tutorial for Kirby in Ultimate streams Elite with him. Be sure to check him out too!

Then we got RK, a big contributor in the Kirby community: https://www.twitch.tv/tng_rk
Notable Kirby player from MD/VA who's quick active on boards gives a lot of good insight.

Also consider Guapo's stream: https://www.twitch.tv/guapo__0/videos
Streams a lot of fun and interesting Kirby gameplay.

For a cool, up and coming Kirby streamer, give GreenCord a check out!: https://twitch.tv/greenchord
He streams battles arenas and the like and is quite active.

There's cool Kirby streaming name to be looking at is KitsuShadow A.K.A the Gonzo!: www.twitch.tv/kitsushadow
This dude really helped kickstart Brawl Kirby's meta back in the day and helped Chudat become the success he was and is now back to help take Ultimate Kirby far! Definitely someone to watch over time!

Another one of our cool Kirby streamers is BlazerKirbeh!: https://www.twitch.tv/blazerkirby
Also a pretty frequent streamer with fun content so be sure to check him out as well!

Recommended YouTube Channels:

First starters, we have my Kirby Smash Ultimate Competitive Vids: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCyaNmh14dOBCXdinTxsDB4w
A lot of good Kirby gameplay gets streamed but sadly isn't put on Youtube. Thus I made this channel on a spare account to help players get their gameplay into a place that'll last as Twitch streams usually expire in 2 weeks.

Next up, we have the kirbypwndyou: https://www.youtube.com/user/kirbypwnedyou/videos
This channel is owned by Kirby Discord owner SK and he occasionally uploads gameplay and helpful vids. Check it out for sure.

Moving on, we have the Youtube channel of one our top Kirby labbers, Phan7om: https://www.youtube.com/user/ItsPrinceMarcus
This guy is a Kirby tech guru. From Ability Combos to Ledge trap techniques, he covers a lot of advanced stuff that can be a boon to your play. Definitely look over his juice.

Another good channel to get key Kirby information is from our good man, juggleboy: https://www.youtube.com/user/pokemonrules9/videos
He creates lots of helpful tutorials to wrap your head around Kirby's meta and the game as whole

Following on is Vernias who maintains a cool Youtube channel as well as Twitch stream: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCilSiavYe9s2XZ66NAbQw3A
The channel has its own share of sweet stuff to watch so browse it if you can

Supergirl Kels is also a channel to consider keeping your eyes on: https://www.youtube.com/user/kelsmed/videos
She's a Sonic main and makes a lot of general fun game content but Kirby is one of her secondaries and she occasionally puts out pretty neat stuff him.

And if you're interested in Japanese Kirby gameplay, Mukyu's channel is one you can check now and then: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8ivGS4hIRROJT3OKarJbTg/featured
He comain's Kirby and does quite of lot clean stuff with him. He has begun streaming via Youtube and sometimes showcases clean stuff with the Kirby so keep an eye on him.

For another strong Japanese Kirby Youtube channel, I'd suggest also watching Tadahan Tada.: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCbYWDpOkXX4LL_WhjCkRM_w/videos
His gameplay is pretty sharp and he's even been innovating unique damaging racking and kill setups and testing them out.

Notable Players to Watch:

And for big names to look up in general, look out for the following players: Ferretkuma, Supergirl Kels, RK, Jesuischoq, Mukyu and Komota. Other good names to look out for include Sillody, Dream/Meden, Guapo, Cobblemaniac, CakeAssault, Kam, Konokururu, Kumataka, and more. These are some of the best Kirbies out there right now and are good names to look up online. Also consider looking up names from the Tournament Data thread! And for our most notable and documented Kirbies, we have individual playlists to help you study each of their styles and how they tackle various matchups:

And with that, let's get sharing!

Are there any other Kirby players/mains in tournaments?

His representation in tournaments feels like nonexistent.

Have you seen my Tournament Data thread? https://smashboards.com/threads/kirby-tournament-data-for-super-smash-bros-ultimate.472075/

I plan to do an update soon but we have a bunch of Kirbies doing decent at local and regional levels who report on Discord. Also look in the playlist and you'll see a variety of names in there besides the big guys I mentioned.

Although the player switched to Mac to switch up the gameplay plans/alleviate Kirby’s problems, I found a humorous 1-800-Kirbycide in the beginning of the video. Played Kirby for the first 3 games.
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=T7STUdCxClI
Found this to be quite good of a set. I think Kirby’s way better than his Smash 4 incarnation from the traction’s he’s gaining, and he might even have a shot to be near mid-tier. He’s got issues, of course, but this video’s perfect for me.

Links/Inkling are also pretty bad matchups for Kirby. Might consider putting Inkling at a 35-65 rather than the old 40-60. Toon Link: arrow arrow boomerang bomb bomb boomerang heya heya heya arrow arrow bomb heya heya bomb (Just joking but Toon Link's pretty good at keeping Kirby away)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzoSzcz8hL8
(While the player played Pikachu 2nd game, I feel that Kirbs' is at a 35-65 disadvantage with Luigi due to the fact that Luigi's combo game is much more reliable + higher in damage output, can eat up Kirby's combo games, has a way better grab setup, more range, and that with the fact that Weegee can keep our boi away, I'm not too thrilled with this.

I own that Youtube channel with those vids actually. lol

I use it to upload tournament vods for your Kirby players that won't get put on Youtube otherwise. I have been meaning to add a reference to it in my thread but keep forgetting. Will definitely do that before the end of today. I also plan to make unique playlists for the sets of our strongest players to help people specifically find their gameplay.

Also Jesuischoq has been able to deal with the various Links. They can be tricky but I think it's doable. Check out this tournament where he beat Otakuni several times:

Luigi can be tough but Jesuischoq has displayed prowess there too:

Supergirl Kels also has displayed how you can play around of a lot of Inkling's tricks:

All these MUs can be annoying but I feel they all have room to develop particularly when it comes to utilizing abilities. Just further incentive for me to keep helping people find these examples. That said I don't have those in the playlist so thank you for sharing.

I DEDEDESCOVERED DEE K o m o t a playing a doubles set!
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=mKZWSBEoIVw
First round: Kirby + K. Rool vs. Double Dong/Double Donkey Kong: Winner for Komota and Lunicktmm/Kirby + K. Rool

Second round: Isabelle + Bowsur vs... Double Dong: Winner: Isabelle + Koopa King

Think the Kirby matchup is actually favorable (60:40) vs Dong. Since Dong’s a big target for comboing, and the fact that Kirby can crouch under a lot of DK’s attacks, the pink puffball might score another matchup victory.

Even more qwertz

Also am I the only one who's seriously posting this thread?

Seriously, I really, really want to push his metagame by raising awareness of competitive vids.

Feels like I’m yelling inside a well.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1z7tUx0IVf0 (Prism 192 - Losers Semis)
EvilGoku at a local. Believed he had a competent Kirby from Smash 4, and punished Falcon quite frequently for standing too close to the gumball. Adapted the set quite nicely and finished with a nice descent to the blast zone game 3.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C1nRMYoX0G4 (Winners Semis, Throwdown LX64)
Dred at another local. Man I'm still shaking my head on how an up throw still doesn't squish a Peach at 150. Keeps bruising her with rage, but not enough to KO (and the brief Ike switch wasn't enough to shake the opponent off). Peach somehow doesn't die against Kirby and can live up to weirdly hefty percents.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JkIIBQz9IdI (Losers Semis, Throwdown LX64)
Dred at the same local. Shulk vs. Kirby doesn't work for Kirby. Ike was the right decision to go along with the whole time, though it would've been interesting to see him pull out the Star Warrior in the C. Falcon games.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3lMjZ7EB_Tk (SSBU Battlegroundz Round 2)
Played decently at the Pokemon Trainer part, though Ivysaur is just misery.

Peach might take forever to die because of her extremely low gravity. You see, gravity from Brawl onward adds on to the knockback formula, meaning characters like Fox and Dedede get launched slightly further than they would normally to compensate for how fast they start falling. This way, knockback is overall more fair across the cast (though this same formula is applied with a negative multiplier when it comes to meteor smashes- that way, they don't affect high-gravity characters quite as adversely.) Peach is on the heavier side of the lightweight characters and has extremely low gravity. Therefore, the up throw is disproportionately weaker on her- If she and Fox weighed the same, Fox would die sooner due to his higher gravity.

Sorry for the long explanation, just wanted to help out a bit there.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wCanyYc1JQQ (Summer Games 2: nT (:ultfox:) vs. Komota (:ultkirby:)
Komota had it rough at the beginning of Game 1. Fox racked up a lotta damage rapidly and got upsmashed to the blast zone early in all three stocks. Second game looking better with the edgeguarding, taking two stocks with the nice down air. Up smash is still a problem. Komota adapted well by taking Fox offstage pretty quickly by reading his options nicely.

Switchfest 2019 Pools- Lord Bahamut (:ultganondorf:) vs. BriefCasey (:ultkirby:)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=I_ZRAiuc128&t=68s

Whoever has the better matchup experience and patience wins. Either side can screw each other up pretty hard if any side doesn’t know what he’s doing. In this case, Bahamut, the Ganon, has explicitly played more tournament games than BriefCasey, the Kirby. :ultkirby: Shouldn’t go offstage as often. :ultganondorf: Almost caught him with some absurd 2-frame attacks (up tilt/fsmash), which shows that while they can be punished Kirby shouldn’t fall that close to the blast zone. Almost used all midair jumps and barely caught the ledge Game 1. Kirby should let the Ganon approach more often, as Ganon has worse mobility ground and air wise. Crouching, shielding, and more down throws should be used more often. For crouching, Kirby can duck under moves like a nair, Wizard’s Foot (point-blank), and a Boot/FTilt. BriefCasey also didn’t shield as often as I hoped to, which could’ve shaved off several hits and allow the games to last longer.

Big AL #8 (Winner’s Semis) - Komota (:ultkirby:,:ultisabelle:) vs. Darkshad (:ultken::ultshulk:)
https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=paRaxsIofro
Komota blowing up Darkshad’s first stock game 1 with mostly up tilts/aerials! Nice to see :ultkirby: take a Dair to negate Ken’s blue projectile. A bit relieving to see the Shoryuken not KOing the big Pink at 91%. Also sweet to see Komota go offstage to Bair :ultken: to the blast zone...at only 40%! A nice finish to Game 1 with a ftilt to fsmash. A nice, clean first game :D
Game 2 has Darkshad switching to the :ultshulk:. Looks like Shulk isn’t really so nice to give Kirby a chance for copy abilities. a game of tag, except Kirby is always “it”. Shulk using his arts to outspeed and outrange the puffball doesn’t turn out too well.

Game 3 has Komota switching to the :ultisabelle:. An unfotunate upsmash first stock ends the dog’s stock unbearably early. Misinput costs Shad a stock...and actually takes another one by using the slingshots and rod to take him off the stage! It evens out though due to Shulk’s long, powerful slash. Komota loses his last stock due to the second time :ultshulk: uses his lengthy stick.

Big AL #8 (Grand Finals) Komota (:ultkirby:) vs. Darkshad (:ultjoker::ultshulk:)
Game 1 goes to Komota who nicely plays around Arsene (would’ve stalled as much as possible on the invisibility platform to run out Arsene).
Komota loses 2-3 :( Shulk is such a jerk :(

Ah...Kirbycides. EvilGoku you never fail to make me annoyed, laugh, and beg for mix-ups.
Disrespects lead you to lose Game 2. Monthu just...couldn’t figure out how to deal with inhale (jump over and punish)
(Edit 1: I’ll post the title of the vods and some analysis)
