Yes.

Well, not AFTER you shoot it in the way you can control Pit's arrows, but when you shoot it you can make it go left or right.

That "combo" looks pretty good, but this dair is simply techable. i have to try it, too :D

The secret is to mix it up with F-Air -> footstool. The speed disparity with their fall often throws them off, giving you the ability to U-Air downward. The falling U-Air causes a reset, which allows you to follow up (ideally).

Here is my 2.6 Ivy vs Metaknight/Mario. I missed the jump cancelled grab at the end of the second match (and several other various rushed inputs, adding to my saltiness) but it was pretty close. Btw, my tag is Skimchee, I'm working on changing the name jawn for my smashboards account thing and stuff. This was my second time playing competitive outside friendlies, but 4th at a 12-person Xanadu tourney isn't that bad for now :D

I just found some videos from last week's SMASH @ Xanadu in MD of an Ivysaur player Skimchee who was doing some really interesting stuff with Synthesis to charge Solar Beam

idk if it's the quickest method, but it seems like the safest.

Are you talking about the SHFF nB? If so that probably is the safest way to do it.

I'm Skimchee (name still in the process of being changed on Smashboards). Yeah, I use the SHFF method because it has pretty much no commitment. It doesn't charge as quickly as if you stand still and hold B, but it is definitely safe and keeps your Ivy mobile. Seems like it also has high priority because I actually started using it to break the D-air pressure in the Mario matches (wish I found out sooner though). Hopefully I'll be back this Tuesday to show some other techniques I've been messing with :D

EDIT: Make sure you pay close attention to your charge light, it's easy to fire a solar beam prematurely when you are using this method.

EDIT #2: Bad news. I can't make it to Xanadu due to some errands that I need to complete before I head back to college. However, I plan on getting a capture card to post friendlies and junk, so I will hopefully be able to start contributing more Ivy to the thread within the next few weeks or so. Live long and Solar Beam!

i see a lot of you guy using the upair belly meteor in your game and it seems like your still getting your second jump afterwards and i keep suiciding with it so now iv just started using dair and bairs instead, or making sure im in range of my tether when using it. what the deal with this?

Like any move, you have to wait until the animation ends in order to do another action out of it. It sounds like you're just trying to jump too early.

You used a lot of get up attacks from the ledge. Are Ivy's get up attacks just way better than I realize or was he missing punishes? I play Marth in melee so I'm used to NEVER using get up attack from the ledge...

I only find get up attack useful for close edge, high % gimps on recovery due to invins frames.

All around you should be using Ivy's diverse and nearly unstoppable edge game.
