I'll be putting the best examples of Ivysaur play in this thread. You can also post vids of yourself if you want critiques.

I'll be looking through Youtube periodically to find videos to add to the OP. If you find anything that you think should be in the OP post them here and make sure to tell me you want it in the OP so I know it's not just a request for a critique.

If you see anything in the OP that you think doesn't belong there just let me know, if enough people agree with you then I'll remove it.

Yeah, in the vids that I got from wifi yesterday I SD'd a lot from Up B'ing too early.

I'm going to blame the lag though

despite me going on and on about healing, it's not something that I'm used to doing yet, so i miss a lot (and I mean A LOT) of chances to heal, and sometimes i pick the wrong times too.

There were a couple times against Peach where you Dthrew her and she DI'd directly above you, and you jumped up to go for a Uair and got punished. In those situations I think it would be better to stay close to the ground and shoot Seed Bombs at her instead.

And when you were running away to heal, you were getting punished with Turnips/Lasers, so I think it would be better if you focused on a more up close game against Characters with Projectiles, and use the run away and heal against characters without them.

Yeah I realized how little I actually used Seed Bomb in the MU, which is something I really got to use more.

I just never end up thinking about seed bomb and never think it's going to kill lol.

Against both there were quite a few good seed bomb opportunities but you already commented on that.

I feel like where you could use the most improvement, at least in the peach match, is your edge guarding when you're not able to get off the stage. I saw you using FTilt for it a lot or just getting so close that you got hit by her Up-B. Stand a bit further back and try to DTiit at low percents or DSmash her. If you time it right DTilt will actually stage spike people and if not you'll get a combo and can knock her back off stage.

When you hit somone's shield with a low aerial try to keep the pressure on with F/DTilt and mix it up with grabs. It seemed like pretty much every time you hit a shield you backed off.

The only like legit pressure option I know off is AC Uair > Follow up lol.

The more pressured the opponent feels, the more defensive they tend to play, the more healing you can get in. ;]

Not to mention pummel heals off grabs. Oh, that reminds me, often you took an extra pummel instead of throwing them. Not sure if that was on purpose or just overestimating how many pummels you could get, but you'd be better off throwing them for the extra damage then just healing a tick or 2 with synthesis if you're doing it for the healing/charging.

It's usually on purpose, because of how Ivy's grab break works. When the ground break, they are still within range of Ivy's ground normals, but Ivy is usually out of range of their normals, so a lot of the time you can still follow up with stuff and start pressuing.

K so I was talking to JCaesar about vids of Vwins' Ivysaur from Apex and he said that he was hoping to have them up by Monday, so there's something to look forward too :D

He also said that Reflex's Ivysaur was "Siiiick" but he didn't get anything recorded of it

I decided to try it out before posting a response and while I don't personally like it, I can see the appeal. I just prefer the damage and putting them above me/off the stage.

Can't wait for Apex vids.

WHAT! I haven't seen any Ivysaur using Seed Bomb as often or as effectively as you were, also that Vine Whip -> Solarbeam combo was godlike.

It looked like Vanz doesn't really know how to play ROB so I wouldn't use that match as a good metric. He did pretty well vs Vanz peach though.

@4:50 I like the defensive seedbombs when you're above your opponent. That's what I use to get down. Also you use Vine Whip A LOT which is awesome. Good conditioning the person even if it doesn't hit. Nice stuff.

I played friendlies with the best Melee/PM player in Columbus for a while. He mains Mario and messes around with a few other characters. Not my best work, but, experience will only help me improve. As a player, I tend to have trouble against constant hitboxes.
