The "Subspace Emissary Movie" video should be played at theaters between trailers...

Seriously, it would be a great move by Nintendo. Not only would it bring Smash Bros. to the public's attention when they might not have otherwise paid it any mind (going with their whole "draw in the casuals" idea), but it would make the hardcore fans happy because they get to see high-quality footage of the game on the big screen.

Anyone else think this would be totally awesome?

-1 for the kim possible sig.

+1 for the good idea. But realistically, (or w/e) I don't see it happening. Perhaps a commercial though. I haven't seen any Brawl commercials on T.V.

:We created a movie introducing one of the game’s modes—Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary.

Enjoy it like you would a preview at the movies!
ZOMGCONFIRMED!!!11!!!!
...is what I would say if I blew that quote out of proportion like some people on this forum do.
I would see it opening night if it did happen though.

lol I think some people are misunderstanding what he was talking about. He was saying to play the SSE movie that Sakurai put on the Dojo in theaters as a commercial/trailer. Not a full blown SSE movie.

I think that's a good idea btw. But highly unlikely. D:

The question is, do you know where you are? HMMM?
Um, I remember seeing a trailer for Kingdom Hearts on a DVD I rented once...I think the movie was Breath of Fire...so it's not impossible.

What movie would advertise it? It would probably be a movie slightly geared more towards younger audiences, that will be showing in early/mid January.

Would it necessarily have to be for a younger audience? I mean, the game is rated T. I figure it'd fit well before something along the lines of, say, Pirates of the Caribbean or Transformers. Something that appeals to the action crowd without the over-the-top blood splatters.

I think it would be a smart advertising move, but I don't see Nintendo doing it.

Smash has always had amazing sales (first one was ~5.5million, Melee as 6million+) and with a little more of an offensive advertising campaign, it can easily beat out Halo in sales. But Nintendo is doing horrible advertising their individual games.

When it comes to advertising, Nintendo is either foolish, or stupidly overconfident. I guarantee you won't see an even remotely agressive advertising campaign for any of their games.

Unless they realized their mistakes with Galaxy. We can hope, I guess, since it'd be a real slap in the face to see Brawl flop too.

I think I saw a Wii would like to play commercial in theaters once. Or I'm probably just thinking of the SMG Wii would like to play commercial.

Yeah, I can see it happening. But non-gamers or non-fans wouldn't understand it much.

I'm going to see the new National Treasure movie today. If I don't see the SSE video during the previews, I'll be disappointed.

When Nintendo and advertising enter my mind, the only thing I can think of is "Clean is better than dirty...", and that is all you need to think about to know that Nintendo wouldn't actually do some cool advertising bit like this.

They played the adds for Wind Waker in theatres way back when, so it's not completely impossible. Would deffinately be cool.

If they do have an ad, it will be a Wii Would Like to Play commercial, but someone will get hurt if they don't change the "play" to "brawl".

Just to clarify since some folks seem to be misinterpreting: I don't mean that I want SSE to be turned into a theatrical movie; I mean that I want the video from Friday's update to be shown during movie trailers as part of a SSBB advertising campaign.

A SSE movie would admittedly be interesting (though difficult to pull off), but that's not really the point of this topic...

Second time this has been said. Just goes to prove that people don't read the topic.

But yeah, I don't see why the audience wouldn't understand. I mean, what's to understand really? It's a game advertisement. What else do they need to understand? They've seen the Wii would like to play commercials on television. If they understand that those are game ads then they can understand a Brawl ad in the theater as long as it says "Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii. February 2008." With the game box at the end of it.

About the SSE trailer playing in theatres. It might confuse people into thinking Brawl is now called the Subspace Emissary.

Hmm, that's true. I guess what I meant to say was not the same audience as Halo or something like that. Speaking of which, was there a preview of Halo in theaters?

Also, perhaps it won't be -that- particular movie clip.... Eh, I dunno. *ponder*

Well they show commercials before the previews, so I could see it happening.

Off-topic: By the way Blu-Ninja, Carlos Mencia is a horrible comedian

Yes there was a Halo 3 commercial that played in theatres. I saw it before the movie started, it was the "Starry sky" one or something like that.

They might put together another "Wii would like to play" commercial featuring Brawl since they tend to play in theatres quite a bit. At least in my theatres.

That'd be sick to have it in theatres. I think it'd widely increase the sales of brawl. Kids wold wonder what it is and want it just because there's pikachu and mario in it.
