I wanted Ridley as a playable character ever since I saw him in the Smash Bros Melee cinematic intro.

I believed his size and appearance in that intro was perfect for a playable character in Smash.

I don't think his chances are great of getting in, because, well.. of Sakurai's view on it.

It would be nice to not only have a version of Ridley playable, but also another homage to Melee.

Project M did an alright job of implementing Ridley, I don't see why Sakurai/ Nintendo couldn't make it happen.

At this point I see Ridley's exclusion as a creator bias/ preference and not an actual sizing and formating issue.

So something ridliculous happened to me today, after maybe at least a year or so I finally realized I hadn't worn my Chozo Puffs shirt in years. Was searching for some new shirts online and found it to remember I had one somewhere, turns out it was slightly buried under some other clothes I had. Though some days it feels like we'd get Spyro long before Ridley. Not that I'd complain about getting Spyro mind.

This. A lot of people lost hope after that fateful day he was revealed as a stage hazard. The list of petty "I told you so"'s didn't help on the same day.

He still got a decent amount of votes to a certain degree from what I remember, which under his circumstances was pretty good. Maybe not enough to warrant a Mii costume but either way, it's harder to picture that for him than K. Rool even. On the other hand, it'd probably have better textures than what we got of the stage hazard (the K. Rool costume actually had pretty damn good textures).

Ehhh I wouldn't say he'd be number one in the voting. Perhaps he could make the top 5, but number one would have probably been a character like King K.Rool or Inklings. I hope he had enough votes in the ballot for Nintendo to have a second look. He seems to be in Nintendo's radar at least, what with his inclusion in Miitomo's Metroid 30th Anniversary event, which I might add only contained him, Samus (and her Zero Suit version), and a Metroid. No-one else. AND he was featured as part of the reel for Uniqlo competition video, alongside Bowser, Ganondorf, and Dedede. That says something.

Ridley not getting a mii costume isn't a good indicator of popularity. He doesn't really have a design that would fit the bipedal miis.

A ridley mii costume would look weird as **** compared to say K rool who fits perfectly.



Although he most certainly scored poorly in the ballot. Large hatebase dissuading potential voters+ people thinking he doesn't have a chance + all the people who jumped ship after deconfirmation pretty much guarantees scoring lower than some of the more popular characters like KK rool, Inklings, or Wolf

And even then, Bayo was never deemed popular and "won" the ballot so we don't really know how accurate our polls were

Yeah, I could only picture like a head, wings, and tail prop for a Mii costume but not much else, though thought it might be worth bringing up for something else to discuss besides the usual.

Of course he didn't score as much as those that had more going for them, but he seemed to do okay for awhile otherwise, though yeah, a number of factors like those kept him from getting as much votes as he could've sadly. The timing of the ballot was simply the worst possible for him.

His supportbase for Smash may never fully recover or make a comeback in fact and become the next Geno or something as far as that.

Brawl's and Super Smash Bors for 3DS' sales numbers), which seems a bit... small... Either not many cared to bother voting, or people were't informed enough, or something else. I voted for Ridley in the ballot, not in the mind of DLC for Smash WiiU/3DS (I doubted he'd get in for those games anyway), but in mind for future Smash Bros. games, and showing that I still wanted and supported the character.

Someone on the First4Figures club on Facebook, who I'm assuming works with First4Figures, posted a teaser for the Meta Ridley statue. Perhaps it'll be the next statue/figure shown after giving the Solaire statue attention. Imagine if they did an exclusive edition of the Meta Ridley statue, where the eyes and wings glowed like they do in Metroid Prime. I'd so buy it.

Another restatement of Ridley's popularity wouldn't have ended any different since it's not Ridley lack of popularity keeping him out. Sakurai has noted the demand for Ridley since Brawl. It's not like, even if Ridley had placed first, Sakurai would've thought "if only I had known he was popular I wouldn't have made him a boss".

Admittedly, I was expecting at least around 3 million. This number just shows how many are actually dedicated to the series. Even then, not all are into the whole competitive scene or play it actively either. I voted, but I'm not bothered about the competitive scene, and I haven't played the games in years.

Yeah, 25th December. They've shown a teaser for a mock-up, but not the final product. Other statues revealed after it have had their final products shown, and are available to purchase already. I contacted First4Figures, and they said they're still working on it. Recently, there has been another teaser for it on the Collectors Club, but more close up to the extra details on the mock up. Hopefully we'll get to see the final thing soon. Looking at what other statues have had, there's a regular edition and exclusive edition - the exclusive editions tend to be able to glow or have something extra to add more detail to the characters. The Solaire statue has 3 editions O_o

I remember seeing a rumor or idea of a playable boss mode being added which would make ridley, master hand, etc playable. I think that could be interesting although im not sure i see it happening and that is the only way i see it happening at all unfortunatly.

Well, either a "first to gain interest" or a "best for last" kinda thing. I'm thinking more of the former, though. Make no mistake, they'd have to buckle down and make a "Made for Smash" version of Ridley just like they did with Pit.

Anyway, I think a smash design would be the best thing for Ridley. It works for guys like Roy and Pit, and would work perfectly for Mr. Awkward himself.

I think if they shortened Ridley's legs a tad and made his arms much longer, while retaining his smaller wings from Super Metroid, while also making the head slightly smaller (but still quite large in comparison to the rest of his body), and have his twig neck a bit more folded...I think you can make Ridley compact enough. That's really what it's all about, not so much resizing Ridley as to adjusting his proportions to make him more compact and fit into a box more neatly. Charizard's tail extends into the "background" of the stage in 2.5D in order to conserve space on the screen. I think you'd take a similar approach to Ridley. Though Ridley can adjust how large his tail is when using his tail spike attack...

Ridley can work with a large size.

His wings and tails should not have hurt-boxes. Any attack on them could knock them to the side on the Z axis. His neck can double-back on itself or be coiled in an S form, as if the war-lust dragon is consistently in strike position, ready to dive his maw into Nintendo flesh.

If they did make Ridley playable, I guarantee he'd be among the first we would see. Just like we were lead off with Meta Knight, Pit, and Wario in Brawl as well as Megaman and Villager in Smash 4. Well, either a "first to gain interest" or a "best for last" kinda thing. I'm thinking more of the former, though. Make no mistake, they'd have to buckle down and make a "Made for Smash" version of Ridley just like they did with Pit.

I don't recall any notable complaints that Pit didn't turn out more like this:

I mean, my memory's not perfect, but calling it selective, especially when bringing up those characters, is kind of ridiculous seeing I would have loved nothing more for all of them to be top choices even back then.

I know Ridley was popular (not sure top 10, and definitely not 5) back then, but I distinctly remember all those characters becoming really popular towards the waning moments of Brawl's release, and after. But pre-reveal? Not so much.
