Oh wow, I didn't think they'd do it but they actually are making a spiritual successor to the Stadium games with presumably the nat dex and all battle gimmicks.

Not sure how I feel about it being also being a mobile game but hopefully that doesn't hold it back too much.

As for Pokemon Legends Z-A...my first gut impression is that I don't like how the trainers look, but the pokemon and environments look fine at least. I am interested in how the new gameplay is going to work. I'm really concerned about the whole game taking place in the city though. Isn't half the fun of an open world game exploring new places? I hope they find ways to make the environments more diverse then they should in the trailer, but I'm having doubts.

I remember when PLA got its first trailer and my mind was blown.

My mind was very much not blown by this first look. And I mean this is a sequel 12 years in the making (**** I'm old) and we went a year from the announcement seeing absolutely nothing, so... yeah. I'm somewhat disappointed.

The combat in Z-A looks fun, but I just don’t get why they’re going with the SV art style . SWSH wasn’t a good looking game either, but the character models and shading looked way better than this semi-realistic thing they’re trying to do now.

Yeah the SV artstyle coming back is interesting. I think that game looked beautiful is some areas but muddy in others.

But also they showed almost nothing about Z-A. Dynamic Battles with precision and timing looks to he pretty fun, probably go crazy near endgame

I think the game looks very interesting. But unfortunately, after a year of hype, this trailer didn’t really knock my socks off.

There’s a lot of cool concepts here but they didn’t make an amazing first impression. I feel like they needed to show just a little more, but it’s clear from the release date they’re saving the big trailer for a summer Presents. Also, and this is really just a personal thing, but I think the starter selection is kinda weak this time around.

Like I said, I’m still interested. But I’ve gone from “unbelievably, perhaps inhumanly hyped” to “I need to see more.”

Tbf, the fineprint or whatever you call it mentioned that not every mon will be available at launch so at the very least, NatDex battles will still be done on Showdown assuming it doesn't get taken down. Not to mention Showdown is incredibly popular due to how convinient it is comapred to breeding and training mons every time you want to try a new team

Nah we are back to the good old days of the hype train.

Expect month or bi monthly trailers like Sun and Moon. If the Terra leak said this game was almost finished last year, that means they are taking an extra year to work on this game.

Which means it has to be filled with content. I would expecting regionals, megas and honestly regular evolutions are fair game now as well. They is probably a lot going on with this game and Gamefreak is actually proud of their work. If they are holding back, I think they have a good plan for showcasing the game over the coming months.

He’s probably working for Quasar or still the professor. I’m betting it’s the former because Dexio and Sina make way more sense as the professors. Especially when they were monitoring Zygarde in Sun and Moon.

Also this might be a real leak, it’s not crazy specific, but it also got being set in the present right, so if true, Sycamore is back.

Honestly if I’m Nintendo, I’m putting a new trailer in the switch 2 presentation. Get people excited that the next mainline game is coming to switch 2, even if not made for it by default.

Was hoping for new megas to be revealed too but that’s okay.

nothing else in the presents really interested me much besides maybe Champions, but I don’t care very much for it either tbh. At least ZA looks great so far, hopefully we get a bit more info in the summer or sumthin since this trailer was a little lackluster.

On the art style…I like it personally. I maybe prefer the Gen 8 and prior style or Arceus’s style a little more for trainers at least, but I like the S/V style too + don’t mind either way for the Pokémon since the more detailed style is pretty cool. It would be disappointing if the old art style never returned, though. If I had to guess, maybe they changed it for this game since it’s more modern?

also the starter choice is odd but I don’t dislike it. If I was choosing, maybe replace Totodile with Piplup or Popplio, and keep Chikorita and Tepig.

As for the starters, since there’s two Johto ones, it’s hard to say if it’s regionals or megas. Regionals make sense because they were in Arceus, and then we would have a full johto regional set.

However, I don’t see them putting two Pokemon from the same region as starters if it’s regional forms. It would make sense to space them out, because otherwise they could have done all 3 in legends.

So I’m going to bet it’s Megas. But then you also have Tepig, which makes two Unova starters with regionals if they do them. So maybe that’s their goal.

We have Torchick, Finnekin, charmander, ****ing CHIMPCHAR

Be it a mega or a regional form I do think there's a high chance we'll be getting the Grass/Fairy Meganium form a lot of people have wanted. But who knows, maybe Gamefreak is going to throw us a curve ball and make it a Grass/Dragon.

Anyway I think I'm going to go with Totodile as my starter of choice, but I'm unsure. I've always been a fan of the 'Dile but I think Feraligatr is a pokemon that looked a lot better in 2D then in 3D. Maybe they'll make it work this time.
