I've got a few hours before work, so I'm going to try playing Shin Megami Tensei 3: Nocturne. The game seems to actively be trying to keep me from saving my progress after the second Dante fight (I beat him twice, but I was killed by normally-inaccurate instant-death spells on my way back to a save point), but third time's the charm, I guess.

I might also play Guilty Gear XX, to get an idea of what the characters are like. So far, I've only really played as Sol.

I loved his Sephiroth presents reactions and how he was going off about Advent Children and **** before Sakurai even said anything.

I find it funny how there's some characters who use that plot line in media since Mewtwo's introduction. Shadow the Hedgehog and Ryuko Matoi are some others, though those two are protagonist anti-heroes that still get angsty over it.
