Mario is more of a cartoony branch of anime. Like, I honestly would equate it more to Doraemon if you're gonna say it looks like any anime. Which yes, is an anime franchise, but it heavily leans more towards what people would describe as "cartoony", and a bit more western with it's presentation and overall setup.

It's kind of like how Pokemon is anime, but a lot of it's gags and representations lend itself to western cartoon styles. This is a huge reason why Pokemon and Mario characters always look so good in western styles; Their home franchise is already clearly inspired by cartoon styles, so they can be both anime and cartoony.

You're saying that since the new DK will be made in Japan, DK will be all anime, and thus you don't want any Japanese devs touching funny monkey games and that's why you want western devs to only touch it. Because you believe that made in Japan = automatically Anime.

Anyways, I'm going to provide my thoughts from my earlier post on the leaked roster of the rumoured Marvel fighting game which is speculated to be in development with Netherealm Studios. I'm going to say that since the source took the details from 4chan, it is at best to take this with a grain of salt.

Whilst I can understand several main staples such as the likes of Iron Man, Captain America, Thor etc are guaranteed to be in the roster, some of the obscure characters made me question whether they could had chosen other recognisable characters from Captain Marvel, Loki, Dr. Strange, Thanos, Ant Man etc in their place?

Japan's not always anime but there are different styles of eastern and western animation. Take Sonic Boom; that game was intentionally designed to appeal to a western audience. I bet a lot of people didn't like the new designs. I didn't like the new designs. Similarly Teen Titans was made to look more like anime.

Does it look overly anime to you? It doesn’t to me. In fact it looks more western than anything.

Also, DK Jungle Beat was made by the Galaxy team. And say what you will about the gameplay, but it doesn’t look too anime to me.

And also also, I was talking about gameplay. Odyssey controls like a dream, not that you’d know. You didn’t play it. And the creative levels and characters only lend to it. I think the Odyssey team would do a great job with the DK series. 2D or 3D.

While non-canon, it has been officially stated the manga takes place between Super Metroid & Metroid Fusion, though Metroid: Other M also takes place between those games (Samus & Joey ended 5 years before Other M released). If I had to choose, I'd say Samus & Joey takes place after Other M.
